Hi ive got a question about fines I think i got snapped by a speed camera last sunday at wollongong no more than 10 ks over probaly 5 or less really which is a 4 demerit loss for red P's so my question is today i just got my green P's which means i have 7 demerits am i safe from being suspended or will it count as a red P offence becuase i was on my reds at the time.

being a P plater the rules are still rather fresh.. You have since progressed to your greens which means the fine was not finalised if infact u were pinged (RTA is notified of infringments as they are processed by police etc).. So you will be keeping your licence because they would of informed you at the test that u had a outstanding offence that has not been served..

If you were pinged for less then 5 I doubt it would go through as they have a 10% margin for error. I have a friend who is a cop and thats what he told me. OR u can play the innacurate speedo crapola if u can still do that??

Hope that helps put your mind at ease.. If you dont recieve anything over the next 2 weeks then your safe for sure.

Cheers,

David

^^ Lol lucky birdman

Last time i did the innacurate speedo thing it failed...even with dyno proof and a stat dec letter...but it did delay the fine process for about 2 years :D

I had an offence on my red p's that carried over onto my greens a few years ago. I didnt get the running out of points suspension but i did get the 3 month 30-45 one.

I'd say youre gonna get the suspension unless you were under the 10% margin of error.

Thanks for the replies it seems we are thinking along the same lines if i got snapped it looks like a suspension if i do get the fine i can ask a few people to take the point for me

it just seems a bit harsh if i get done for 5 ks over and loose my licence but thats life i guess lol.

Thanks again for your input.

My sister got done and was going to lose her license I think she took it to court because that would delay it enough that she'd get some points back so you may be right now that you're on your greens. And if you have 4 demerits I thought you could still drive until you got booked again i.e you really have to lose 5 points to be disqualified?

Accumulate 4 demerits on reds and you're out.

Also, the 10% thing is a crock of shit.

Most HWP will give around 10KM/H on 70+km/h zones, but they don't have to.

ADRs are written such that the 10% is no longer +/- but it is now that the speedo can only read 10% higher... IE, you're travelling at 100KM/H, speedo can read from 100 - 110KM/H

years ago it used to be able to read from 90 - 110KM/H... Not any more.

If you were only 5 over, you're probably safe, I've been through most of the cameras in WGong 5 over and never been done.

"If" you do get done it may be on your greens. I'm only saying this because a bloke I know got done for dui on his p's and the cops said to him if you get your full licence you may get less for being on your blacks...

All else fails ring rta...

Actually the speedo only needs to be accurate within 10% to 40 km/h to meet ADR's. Above 40km/h and its what the manufacturer specifies.

.

You used to get 4 points on your red p's now you get 3, so to be disqualified you need 4 points, on the old system that meant 5 points to be disqualified from driving.

    • Hope you aren't too sore after that one, might take a day or 2 to notice yet and I guess it is a loooooong drive home. On the bright side, tube frame front end is a thing at superlap, right?

    • The chart of front pressure to rear pressure (with one being on the x axis and the other being on the y axis) is not a straight line on a typical proportioning valve. At lower pressures there is a straight line with one slope, and at higher pressures that changes to a lower slope. That creates a bend in the line at that pressure, called the knee point. If you do not change the proportionng as the pressure gets higher, you will suffer excessive pressure (at one end of the car or the other, depending on which way you look at the proportioning action) and then get lockups at that end. The HFM BM57, from my memory of previous discussions, is based on the BM57 from a different car (to a Skyline), with a different requirement for the location of the knee point and the distribution of pressure front to rear, and so is not a good choice for an upgrade on a Skyline. Here's a couple of links to some old posts, one from here, one from elsewhere. A lot of it pertains to adjustable prop valves, but the idea is the same. There are plenty of discussions on here about this issue from al the many years of people wanting a cheap/accessible option. https://grassrootsmotorsports.com/forum/grm/learn-me-brake-proportioning-valves/236880/page1/ https://grassrootsmotorsports.com/forum/grm/learn-me-brake-proportioning-valves/236880/page1/
    • Yeah dunno why johhny posted that here with no context, just post on FB/insta bro where he put it up?  Laine had an off at T4 during Thurs prac, he's ok, car is less than perfect, they are done for the weekend, he can fill in the rest. Bando also binned it like 100m up the road.
