Currently have a surge setup with a Carter Gold lifter - 2.5lt surge and 2 x 044 Bosch fuel pumps and Turbosmart rising rate reg.

Full braided lines and speedflow fittings, 4 Indy blue 1600cc injectors. Motec M400 running gear.

Just looking for peoples experiences in running methanol using these pumps, whether its a 50% mix or a 90% mix and information would help.

This system has handled E85 (15% 98RON) ELF branded ethanol but looking for a different option as right now as meth is alot easier to aquire in my area, that and the fact that ANDRA have banned E85.

Have been told to upgrade to a magnafuel pump but not sure which one, reccomendations?

Thanks,

Gary

Just double check that your braided lines are ok with methanol.

and depending on your power level you may need another pump, most methanol big power drag cars run a big mechanical pump becuase the electric pumps cant flow enough unless they have half a dozen pumps in the boot.

If you are running methonal and have a check valve after the pump I believe you have to make sure it is meth compiant too. I got a Speedflow check valve and was instructed to change an O-ring in the check if running meth, it is supplied when you buy one.

Fair enough, anybody had any experiences?

I'm talking about straight meth yes, not a water/meth injection etc

Have a look at what all the Pro Turbo cars start and idle on. They have an 044 in line for this purpose.

Just doing some thread mining about methanol, I will be getting a E85 tune done on my new engine and was thinking about what extra gains I would get running on methanol.

Im running 2x 044 pumps so I guess that would be the limiting factor when using methanol as they wont flow enough...?

quadruple your fuel system for meth from 98.

your gonna need 2400cc injectors for 850hp, base on your 475rwkw figure i reckon 550-600+ on meth

so 850hp @ 88% duty with BSFC of 1.4 works out around 2360cc

I have 2000cc injectors now so would need a few more pumps then.

Just thought meth would be a cheap option over drum E85 and C16 type fuel

Also, will the 044 pumps handle methanol..?

    • So either way it is gearbox out and look what is wrong?  I know about the input shaft bearing. Even before swap/new clutch the it sounded exactly like this: So is that inout shaft bearing or the other was installed backwards?  And can some please tell me the part number for that input shaft bearing? The gearbox is small box from R34 N/A and number is FS5W71C. Thank you
    • I am yet to see anyone ever regret a quaife or helical. ...other than drifting/skidpan duties. I kind of want to upgrade my factory helical with a Quaife (but really it's not ultimately that different, and is a MASSIVE UNDERTAKING), that's how good the hype is about them, that I want to try them 'just to see'
    • D2 and Ksport are essentially the same thing and basically just generic Taiwanese manufacture. Better than ChinaBay crap, but... not top shelf. Öhlins have got to be some of the best dampers around, so likely to be a good option. It's going to get to the point though where I suggest you buy from Oz. We have at least 2x excellent options here. If I were you though, I'd be talking to KW about doing something for the R33. There's bugger all difference between that and the 32. In GTR land, anyway.
    • KW only offers a set for the R32 GTR. Popular options are D2 racing, Ksport or Öhlins. I have a D2 Racing coilover set, though I don't know for sure which one.
    • Well, the good news is you have more than one very good option for new coilovers in and around your country. Worth the drive over to KW to talk about GTR stuff.
