I play on the console so i have had BF:BC for the last year or 2 to play and that was much more fun the BF2 even though there were less vehicles it was more fun being able to destroy walls. Got so put off going back to play BF2 with a guy hiding behind a thin concrete wall and i couldn't kill him with my tank found it so annoying now that i am use to destructible environments.

I have dled the demo on xbox 360 and play that a fair bit atm and have had the limited edition version of full game pre-ordered for a long while now

I missed first Bad company.. Played the demo on the ps3 tho. was pretty sweet.. but had a BF2 addiction for a while.. I recommend you get BC2 on PC, Its better. Can't play FPS games with a controller.. but each to their own i suppose...

  • 4 weeks later...

Not watching. this game come out in 24 hours or so.. dont want to spoil it. good find tho.

Steam have failed to Deliver the game on time in the U.S... bastards.. hope that doesn't mean Aus get a delayed release!

Not too any Aussie servers, 3FL, Game Arena or anything like that... I CAN however auto-connect... But every server I get on has a ping of around 500'ish and if I don't get booted, it is just unplayable anyway...

Whats the gameplay like? Anything like Call of Duty or better?

It plays like every other Battlefield game, different to CoD, where as CoD is arcade Battlefield is a half-arsed soldier sim. Like if someone at IW really really liked vehicles so they had to make the maps bigger and if there were actual bullet physics. Oh and the unlocks were WAY further apart and made even more of a difference.

This guys basically sums it up.

Saying COD or BF is better is impossible because they play very differently and you may prefer the one style to another. I personally love how BF games play might be a bit slower but find it more rewarding and fun where in COD you seemed to rewarded for next to nothing which kind of lessened the actually feeling of achieving anything.

Or COD4 was about playing and winning on an easily obtainable even playing field where as I can out snipe new snipers with an M60, 4x scope and magnum rounds in BC2 while I heal myself and point whore off some poor bastard that's getting shot all the time. BC2 is all about point whoring. You see it with nearly every single server having a stacked team at the end of the round for the bonus. The weapon stats are wierd and the scales in the game are a lie. These are the real ones.

There is also no PB on many / most servers so cheats are undetected. The new #1 player has 16000 kills and 200 deaths, nothing sus. Yes that's right that'a KDR of 80.

OK completely over this game as soon as I finished all the unlocks.

I've figured it's because it tries to be everything without getting anything right.

It's a crap twitch shooter, crap tactical shooter and a crap soldier sim. Put them all together and you have pretty much every battlefield game ever.

Also it's now been admitted that the netcode they use is PERMANENTLY out of sync BY DESIGN. wat?

    • Yep, totally get that. However hooking in for Generator back up is only a few hundred bucks for the wiring. You could put a couple of those in (for different circuits explicitly) and run a couple of baby generators. Bonus, you can balance them across different circuits, and now have backups in your backup. I'm looking at buying places that won't even have water etc, and I don't mind the idea of getting off the electric grid either, even with everything you've said. This country already has enough power outages that even the mains grid isn't that reliable anymore. I do agree though on spending a bit more to get better gear, and to add some extra redundancy in to the system too.
    • You can set hard reserves on your battery system, and it can't be discharged past that.
    • That sounds like an excellent idea. But total self-sufficiency means exactly that. You have no-one else to blame when your system faults out and you have no power for a week or two while it gets fixed. You'd have to go the whole hog and get a diesel genny and all the switchover gear, to get you through such times. And, despite the fact that over 20 years, my system has been pretty reliable**, I have seen so many inverter explosions (or less dramatic deaths), panel and roof JB fires, and so on, over that time, to know that the stuff is the same as any other bulk Chinese manufactured stuff. The failure rate is well above zero - both on the equipment and on behalf of the meth addled installation labour force. And then..... warranty and means of redress against the supplier you bought the gear from. Best I can tell is that only a handful of solar companies are still around within 5 years of starting their advertising pitch. They disappear and phoenix like crazy. So, as per 1st paragraph, I suspect the only way to is go balls deep and spend maybe 2-3 times as much as you might think, so that you have every base covered. Plus, know and understand your gear intimately, so you can diagnose problems, sort them out yourself, etc, etc. Plus, probably have to consider upgrading various parts as the years pass, to maintain compatibility with newer stuff, performance and reliability, etc, etc. Whereas, remaining attached to the grid has an ongoing cost that keeps going up even if you use bugger all power from it. But it does provide the fallback in case of the worst case with your own gear. You either pay up front or as you go, I suspect.
    • Add more solar panels to the array. Call the electricity company and tell them you're moving out... Live off grid electric wise
