Haha so that footage came from the last NS cruise did it?

Seriously though, last year it was a VL, this year it was a Silvia, I bet it was set up; who's that skilled at driving yet that f**king stupid to leave their number plates on and make the footage publicly accessible in this day and age?

Thanks for the beat up ACA you bunch of narrow minded f**kwits, it makes me want to punch Tracy Grimshaw in the f**king face. Rubbish like this, Today Tonight, and the tabloid newspapers are the reason WHY the heat is on everyone and there's an increasing trend towards a nanny state.

I wouldn't be surprised if it was all set up purely for the story, surely there'd be a breach of privacy thing going on to broadcast the guy's numberplates

Just read that article, you have to be KIDDING ME! someone should send that link to Today Tonight LOL (I would say Media Watch but no-one watches it!)

That's what I thought straight away, that its set up purely for the story as 'hooning' is huge at the moment.

LOL at your comment about Tracy and punching her, I say bring back Gordon Ramsay to fix her up.

Agreed, it should still have been done in a controlled and safe environment.

Just watching that video and seeing this Silvia drifting up a mountain climb, looks familiar....ah yes, looks like the place where my bro died.

To further add to the insult, the writer of that article, Beau Jones, decided that there was a way out of the blame in the hooning this particular driver was doing (on public roads), and that is to change the subject and talk about what's wrong with ACA.  What crap, what arrogance.

That driver just demonstrated the best places for drifting in a highly modified Silvia, and even left his marks in some of these places.  Nice job, how much do silvias go for these days?  Thanks asshole driver  :):P

And lastly, thanks for showing people that driving on public roads in "quiet" factory areas is not going to hurt anyone if you have another bloke holding a camera and calling it a controlled situation  :)

I did email today tonight.

I dont expect they will help the guy out, but, they might make ACA look very shoddy, unprofessional and sly.

Which, TT and ACA seem to like doing to each other.

Not really missing the point at all.

The point is as such.

1. Illegal

2. Public Roads

Whatever else is involved is utterly irrelevant.

If said person was stupid enough to apply for Top Gear doing retarded shit on public roads, and sent in footage to a news station - what did he think would happen?

rocklee if you think ACA has a SHRED of journalistic credibility you're a fool. This isn't an emotional debate, don't turn it into one.

Reread my post and that article. It is merely pointing out that it is an edited video TAKEN OUT OF ITS ORIGINAL CONTEXT and uploaded by TOP GEAR AUSTRALIA. Therefore without further investigation who was to know that it wasn't a cordoned off section of road? Surely Top Gear Aus wouldn't upload a video which they knew to be promoting illegal road behaviour.

RBPOWA-TJ: maybe they are more realistic than those on here about fighting a pointless battle that can't be won; though they do tend to have more of a rep as a 'hoon' club.

I can't even stand reading the Hun anymore, it's just so full of see through bias, irrelevant human interest rubbish and celeb gossip. When people quote shit out of it without any more research I want to punch them in the face.

Andrew Bolt is a dead set shit stirrer, thinks he's Alan Jones or something.

Strongly agree.

Particularly in regards to Andrew Bolt who i find racist and intolerant.

ACA have clearly provided a very very different context for the video but in both videos a few things are clear.

The car has plates, it is running poorly and in breach of EPA and should be off the road until fixed, whilst the stunts/driving is being performed the road appears at all times to be closed so it might not be as bad as some people have made out. If you have watched Targa or other Rally events they used public roads that are closed nothing special and most of the time there are no barries just road no different to this one.

I am in no way interested in drifting but the drive appears to have some skills even though he is an idiot for a number of reasons.

No helmet, plates on the car, incorrectly tuned/most likely used a performance shop/tuner that doesn't know what they are doing and using what appears to be a public road that may or may not have been closed in a legal fashion for the making of this video...

lol @ Andrew Bolt comments.

At least the guy has the balls to say what the rest of the mainsteam media refuse.

They mainstream media will not/have not reported correctly on...

1. Climate change

2. The "stolen generation"

3. Hoon laws

4. Realistic reasons for "apparent" racial bashings

As just 4 recent topics, there are plenty more. Not one news paper or media outlet in Australia has reported anything other than lies and infactual bullshit about all of those topics.

At least the US news is getting stuck right into the bullshit that is climate change @ their Gov't.

    • Even more fun, leave all the ADAS stuff plugged in, but in different locations, hopefully avoid any codes!   And honestly, all these new cars with their weird electronics. Pull all the electronics out Duncan, and just shove an aftermarket ECU and if needed a trans controller in, along with a PDM. Make it run basic but race car styled!
    • To follow up a question from earlier too since I had the front bar off again (fking!) This is what is between the bumper and the drivers side wheel And this is the navigator side, only one thing but its a biggy! So basically....no putting coolers in the wheel arches without a lot of moving other stuff. Assuming I move to properly race prepping this car I'll take that job on and see how the computers respond to removing a whole bunch of ADAS modules
    • So I prepped the car for another track day on Wednesday (will be interesting to see coolant temps post flushing out and the larger reservoir, with a forecast of 3-14 being 20o cooler than last time I took it out). Couple of things to mention; since I am just driving the car and not taking a support vehicle, I took the rear seats out and just loaded the back up Team Trackday style. Look at all that space! To cover off removing the rear seat....it is weird (note the hybrid is probably different because it wouldn't have folding rear seats) Basically, you remove the lower seat base, very similar to a r series but it is a clip that pulls forward to release the base rather than it being bolted down. Easy Then, you need to remove the side section of the rear seat on each side. There is a 14mm head nut at the bottom of the side piece, the it slides upwards off a hook at the top to release; you also need to unhook the seatbelt from the loop at the top. Then the centre piece is weird. You need to release/fold the seats forward with the tab in the boot on each side From there, there are 2,x12mm headed bolts holding the rear of each seat to the folding bracket, under the trim between the rear seat and the boot (4x christmas tree clips there, they suck). The seat is out but you can see where the bolts attach to the bracket
    • As discussed in the previous post, the bushes in the 110 needed replacing. I took this opportunity to replace the castor bushes, the front lower control arm, lower the car and get the alignment dialled in with new tyres. I took it down to Alignment Motorsports on the GC to get this work done and also get more out of the Shockworks as I felt like I wasn't getting the full use out of them.  To cut a very long story short, it ended up being the case the passenger side castor arm wouldn't accept the brand new bush as the sleeve had worn badly enough to the point you could push the new bush in by hand and completely through. Trying a pair of TRD bushes didn't fix the issue either (I had originally gone with Hardrace bushes). We needed to urgently source another castor arm, and thankfully this was sourced and the guys at the shop worked on my car until 7pm on a Saturday to get everything done. The car rides a lot nicer now with the suspension dialled in properly. Lowered the car a little as well to suit the lower profile front tyres, and just bring the car down generally. Eternally thankful for the guys down at the shop to get the car sorted, we both pulled big favours from our contacts to get it done on the Saturday.  Also plugged in the new Stedi foglights into the S15, and even from a quick test in the garage I'm keen to see how they look out on the road. I had some concerns about the length of the LED body and whether it'd fit in the foglight housing but it's fine.  I've got a small window coming up next month where I'll likely get a little paint work done on the 110 to remove the rear wing, add a boot wing and roof wing, get the side skirt fixed up and colour match the little panel on the tail lights so that I can install some badges that I've kept in storage. I'm also tempted to put in a new pair of headlights on the 110.  Until then, here's some more pictures from Easter this year.
    • I would put a fuel pressure gauge between the filter and the fuel rail, see if it's maintaining good fuel pressure at idle going up to the point when it stalls. Do you see any strange behavior in commanded fuel leading up to the point when it stalls? You might have to start going through the service manual and doing a long list of sensor tests if it's not the fuel system for whatever reason.
