Anyone keen to go to the Showdown this Sunday? Game kicks off at 4:10pm.

Prices are for adults are $38.85 undercover; $35.85 from 50m arc, along the wing to other 50m arc; or $26.50 behind the goals.

Prices for concession are $29.15 undercover; $27.65 50m arc to 50m arc; $20.35 behind the goals.

These games are generally tight and the Power won the round 6 game this year. I wouldn't be surprised if the Power turned their fortunes around and squashed the Crows' finals aspirations.

Let me know if you want to go as I'd like to book tickets either tonight or tomorrow at the latest.

I would love to - however I cant fit in the seat aisles!!! not enough space for my long gogogadget legs, makes it extremely uncomfortable.

by half time Im in a world of hurt. Just isnt worth it for me tbqh.

yeah right Dave :(

History has shown that ladder positions and previous form count for very little in Showdowns and quite often the favourite loses. Overall the Power lead 15-13.

Since the 'Ultimate Showdown' semi-final in 2005 the results have gone:

2006 Rd 06: Crows

2006 Rd 21: Power

2007 Rd 03: Crows

2007 Rd 18: Crows

2008 Rd 03: Crows

2008 Rd 16: Power

2009 Rd 06: Power

2009 Rd 17: Crows

2010 Rd 06: Power

2010 Rd 17: Power

so, WB sacked Jason Akermanis

what a failure of a club (my opinion).... there goes this years premership opportunity

it's guys like Aker who make footy clubs like they want to be - ie successful, talked about, feared, hated, loved....- WB knew this 4 yrs ago and know this now, so what has changed?

they thought he would pull his head in after Brisbane sacked him, now they have learnt that the guy will never learn! I dont mind Aker, and hes a good player, but if he would just stop trying to be so controversial, hed be so much more popular.

"However, it's also the case that over the last 18 months, Jason has been involved in a number of incidents in which matters confidential to the inner sanctum of our football department and players have been the subject of inappropriate disclosure on their behalf outside the club."

- David Smorgan, WB President

Sounds like hes been warned before.

I feel sorry for Aker but he's his own worst enemy..........I don't ever recall a player having ever been sacked from 2 clubs.

The guy unfortunately doesn't understand all the "C" words: club culture, comradery, conduct & code......if he was an outlaw biker, he'd be dead man walking.

Aker refuses to look past his nose at the wider picture but would rather argue tit for tat about little issues cause he knows he'd win the little arguements rather than see that 1 player is never bigger than the club.

Sam Newman took his side cause he felt obliged after dropping his name in when he shouldn't have and managed to suck in the whole audience with his eloquent speech......Gary Lyon was the only one there that was credible by offering his views from the perspective of an ex champion player, Captain, and true club man.

Aker needs to wake up cause the world doesn't revolve around him even if he was in the top 10 best players in the AFL........which he's not by a long shot.

I've heard the arguement that if he was in the top 10 best players in the AFL, that they wouldn't have sacked him........maybe not, but they'd be barely putting up with him. Sure he had a big say in the 3 Lion's flags but that was almost a decade ago, now he's extra baggage with more of a liability than an asset to the club.

Footy??!

Meh.......I'm so over it :P

yer i see the magpies are needing to raise another $250k or something around that ballpark to remain in the SANFL - wtf are they doing over there with all the money, buying all the crystal meth from ben cousins ex dealer?

-D

Hmm, no more Bocky and nothing in return for him...........if I was Crow supporter I'd feel really ripped off just like West Coast will at the end of the year when they get the wooden spoon but no 1st round or extra picks.

Struggling clubs are gonna really hate the 2 new teams!

    • I used to do that (sills with rubber jack block).. ... then I got side skirts, and there's no way for the jack to actually work there, the jack pad itself on the jack is too big. Is the answer to use a... smaller (?) jack? Hmmm.
    • I have too much trauma from every skyline I've ever seen having crushed jack points/pinch welds lol.    Yep, works 100%, it's what I use when I'm using the quick jack. Don't know why I can't also bring myself to do the same thing when I'm using a jack. I blame the skyline PTSD.
    • The pinchweld is fine, even with a trolley jack, so long as you're not actually pushing on the pinchweld itself. More to the point, we shouldn't talk about lifting or supporting on the pinchweld, we should talk about using the sill "jacking points", which just happen to be adjacent to the pinchweld. I just have dense rubber blocks with grooves in them for each of the chassis stands and the trolley jack, that I use at the sill jacking points if/when I have to lift/support there. They put all the load onto the steel pad of the jacking point and not the pinchweld. As intended.
    • Makes sense.  I would do something different if I felt like there was a better option. Generally the only other area I'm happy to jack on is where I want to put the stand. The pinch weld is not an option for me for either the jack or stands, so very limited options overall.  Plus never having had an issue with doing this, has kinda reinforced in my mind that it's fine. I'd do it on any car without a second thought these days lol.
    • I know on some cars it's explicitly endorsed in the service manual but a lot of them it isn't which is what gives me pause. I know a lot of cars also have you jack up the car by the radiator core support which is a lot easier to get to than some crazy deep section of the front subframe. I'm just reluctant to find out if any of that is really safe to do if not listed in the service manual. The FK8 has even the R-chassis beat in this regard, the front subframe jack point is almost fully behind the front tires and is surprisingly recessed into the car.
