Hi all,

I have a standard 1983 Series 2 R30 white sedan for sale in Adelaide. It looks just like mine but belongs to my son who can not afford to run it due to no job. We have spent countless hours on it polishing, cleaning etc. It is quite clean and tidy with only one fairly minor rust spot next to the right hand rear tail light.

Pictures are coming!

New g/box mounts

Dual fuel

New VL injectors about 12 months ago

New exhaust technology 2 1/2" system (P plate friendly noise)

Brakes have been overhauled in the last 12 months

15" mags from an R32 non turbo so its 4 stud

Front tyres have done 400km from new

Faults:

Hi,

Looks in good condition. Most R30's I've seen are either 3sp auto or 5sp manual. Are the grill and tail lights the same as other ('series 1') R30's?

Approx 337,000 kms (I have to check that)

How many kms has it done?

What's the condition of the interior and seats?

Hi.

It has done 348,000kms, but starts and runs very clean. It always starts on petrol and then goes to LPG. The body is pretty damn straight, and the paint is better than my own car!

Rear lights are the same as series 1 but overall there are a number of small mechanical and electrical differences between the two series. This is definitely 4 speed with converter lockup, so it is a fairly late box.

Interior is reasonable with the usual scratches and stuff, but the heater control panel looks like brand new. If I could, I would swap it with mine but mine has been modified too much. The seats are ok but could do with a bit of TLC if you were going to keep the car for a while.

I actually just put some Autotechnica seats in mine from Repco. Got them on special at $300 for the pair!

Nice R30 there Rob, unfortunatly the asking price for these old birds are pretty sad these days. i couldnt sell my MINT hatchback for $2000 last year, and that included about another $2000 in spare parts (as well as a full turbo setup, manifilds, injectors the lot).

Most commonly they go for $500 or so, give or take.

the Import L20et powered 4 door HR30 sold for about $2500, that was a record high price so far!

Sorry this is off-topic, but those seats sound interesting. Did they bolt on to the existing rails? Any problems fitting them?

Now back to it... a very nice 4-speed auto, series 2 MR30 is up for sale...

I believe I am being realistic as a couple of friends in the auto industry have actually said it should have been a higher asking price. The proof will come regardless one way or another when/if it gets sold.

As an aside I have been offered over $12k for mine, but just do not want to part with it.

I made up new mounts using 25mm (high) X 40mm (wide) tubing and mounted the runners directly to them. The drivers seat is now a bit too high so I will replace the back tubing with a bit of 10mm X 30mm bar to try to tilt it back.

I'll try to get some photo's to upload but I'm not sure this is the forum for that. Let me know where I should post it.

    • ok so if i wanted to go 18's i would go for 8's  in front 30+ or 32+ off set at front and the back 9 would be ok? what offset should i aim for.. then can i do some  hunting for wheel rim choices..    If i get this - will this fit all around: Size: 18 x 8.5 +37 - n what tyres size tyre should i get for front n back?
    • Absolute f*cking nightmare. I had to take breaks constantly, and I was always pissed off when I got home. The line split in Italy on day 2 (we drove from the Netherlands), lol. Driving any narrow European town was... well, sh*t.   Appreciate it man. Here, I'll just drop a favourite from the load I took on Saturday.   I'll update here when things happen with the car, the thing is, with stock power and almost everything chassis-wise taken care of, there really are no problems. 268,000kms now and counting.
    • Ah! I actually managed to snag a lightly used set.... that aren't so suitable for me right now. They don't work on a GTT without some cutting or creative heat moulding. I thought about reselling them myself cause I didn't want to murder them, but it looks like I'm probably going to attempt to murder them/melt them because I may as well. @GTSBoy @PranK can somebody close this thread?
    • Hey mate,  I have a set, one is slightly damaged but wont be noticable once installed.  Shoot me a message if your still after them
    • I couldn't wait But, the black constant tension hose clamps were too thick and there wasn't enough clearance at the T/B and I couldn't get it to seat properly, so I had use a silver one there I also added some 3" silicone over the alloy bit that goes through to hole on the radiator support as it looked like it was sitting on the edge of the hole in the radiator support, I never noticed a rattle or anything, but there was a witness mark It is basicly done, and I can live with the silver hose clamp at the T/B, I will get a black clamp for the head vent though where it is attached to the bulkhead fitting  It never stops...LOL, only issue now with the shock tower brace is it slightly touches the under bonnet liner now, if I leave it it will either wear some paint off the brace where it touches, or damage the liner, so I removed the liner to see what I have to work with, with the liner removed I have about 20mm of clearance, but sadly the middle part of the underside of the bonnet is only dusted with paint and looks crap, so I cannot have that, but.... as I have a roll of Carbuilders premium under bonnet insulation in the garage laying around that is only 5.5mm thick (we were going to use it on the boys Patrol, but he crashed the front of it a few months and it was written off, hence why he now drives my old Honda Accord Euro), I'll use the OEM liner as a template and get the Carbuilders stuff fitted up to cover that dusted paint up
