Hey guys n gals,

I've got a rear R33 skyline garnish that i've modified so that the SKYLINE letters light up red, im sure alot of you have heard/seen them. Thought i was purchasing a R33 but never went through with it so i have it sitting in my room. It is primed black and ready for you to spray it the colour of your car.

I've attached pictures but they aren't the best because was taken with my phone. It still has the tape over the letters, took the S tape off to show how it will look for photos (obviously still needs paint and clear coat), but have put tape back over it for sale.

Any questions please ask. will post anywhere in Australia.

umm for moderators sake ill put price of $300 ono

Thanks,

Mitch

Sorry mate, 300 is crazy...

I did mine for 60 bux worth of bits from Jaycar... U did a good job, but I would think this thing should only go for 100-120...

gl if u get the price want!

like i said, i put that price up just for mods sake.

good on you for making it that cheap, but it actually cost me from scratch, garnish lights wiring paint etc. Cheers

Really? wow I didnt want it to seem rude, If ur selling it just to get ur moneys worth back on it,

But i did it from scratch too...... how expensive were the lights/wiring and paint for you?

My LED strip for the back was 50 bucks, wiring and switch 10 bucks, I got my panel beater to paint it and matched to my petrol tank cover for free as he owed me, I sanded the letters back myself and I had some silicon in my garage to waterproof it....

Mine cost a butt load to make... but it's a bit more advanced then most

To be honest, there's a hundred different ways to do it. If you just use an LED strip or something like that, it's cheap. If you build the strip yourself, the electronics for it add up to about $80 alone... then there's the cost of the actual facia, the wiring, painting and sometimes installation.

I've sold a few for $300, I didn't think it was unreasonable... but they were 2 colours...

ive seen a few of urs doof, they are always excellent... I just seriously want to know how it cost 300 for this guy to make essentially wot I did for 60...

with multiple colours and moving lights etc etc I can see how the electronics can get alot more expensive, but this just seems basicly the same as mine.

I didn say it cost me $300 to make mine.. i dont know what they are worth so $300 is just whats popped in my head, like ive said im taking offers. plus id like to make some money for the time and effort that i put into making it

  • 15 years later...

I also built one, for a bit of a laugh. Pretty happy with it.

Basically, obtained a clear garnish, painted it sanded back the paint off the letters, clear coated it. Inserted a 3cm EL strip through a slot I created in one end and sealed it up.

    • I've looked up the parts number (41011AL501). It's around $700 OEM. Usually our Infiniti G35 here in Canada have interchangeable parts with my Stagea but the parts number are not the same. I have looked around and it seems the JDM 2005 V35 Skyline (which is the same as our G35) has the same caliper but I cannot confirm. And I can't find a repair kit. The inner brake pads drags on the rotor, seems to be rusty piston. Thanks for the info by the way
    • This coupled with 6-9 speed autos with ridiculously short gearing is why these modern shitbox cars always seem so fast off the line. If it wasn't for those things, Raptors would not seem fast. The problem we have is there is a driveability gap between a more gentle take off and a wheelspinning sideways launch. The difference between ankle flex required to achieve one and ankle flex required to achieve the other is about 0.5°.
    • Yeah I think I'm also with the opposite here. It's 'hard to keep up with traffic' because in the real world I'm accelerating with 15% throttle and they are pinning it. It feels like I'm being an overt dickhead at anything above 15% throttle, so the car sounds like I'm being an overt dickhead to keep up with/get ahead of traffic when I'm really just trying to drive with traffic. There would be no issue 'keeping up with traffic' if we used the same level of throttle input/aggression to drive around. People really do just drive around with their foot nearly pinned in econoboxes.
    • To be fair it's the other way around. 300kw is boring in a modern Golf or BMW. They are so competent / well-engineered / devoid of emotion that you have to go stupid fast to feel anything. Whereas the <300kw RB still makes all the right noises and it feels good to drive. Can pull off at the lights with the turbo whooshing and the blow-off pssshing and feel like the coolest kid on the block. Just don't look to the side where you'll see the bored housewifes in their shitbox Yaris/Corolla/Camry that kept up because you didn't go fast at all
    • 300kW is so boring in a Skyline, you'll get spanked by someone's mum's Golf with Alibaba pipes, and an email tune.
