mate do your research on this i did this in one of my bommadores and all it takes is half a coil to much and your car will handle like a heap of shite

maybe start by doing half a coil at a time to se how much it affects your handiling and spring rates

either way its gonna get stiffer and lower and it will either handle nice or like a boat

also wat sort of shocks are you running (lowerd or standard)

i think lowerd have less stroke and will not bottom out as easy

pretty sure your standard shocks will bugger out fairly quick if you cut the springs because they will bottom out due to length off the stroke and destroy your seals

and make sure you get your car alined afterwards

hope this helps some

Cut cost by cutting springs........in your daily driver. Sorry man but this is a really dangerous thing to do. just spend the money and buy a set of lowered springs.Cut springs are downright dangerous, Not a nice experience to have one pop out at 100 kmh over a bump or dip in the road

I can't believe people still do this. Fair enough 20-30 years ago i could understand it. But to do it nowadays when a pair of aftermarket springs is $150 max, you gotta be shitting me.

Chop it Daddy.

Well we have all done it. I did it in my old 31. Only took out one coil. It did stiffen it up, but if you do it to the point wherer your spring isnt captive then you are asking for trouble.

You can get Kings or Kmac for about $120 a pair. Better than slamming into a tree.

Just get off the piss and smokes for 2 weeks, and bang there is ya cash.

chopping springs will make them a higher rate but the last thing it will do is make it handle like a boat, must of been the holden. in fact it should be more stable with less boaty-ness but the ride wont be as smooth

do it. if you dont like it get another set of stock ones or what not

like has been said springs are cheap enough..... but if ur going to cut just dont cut off to much , maybe 1 coil and smooth off the top so it sits flush.... or just take the springs out ride on the bump stops like most commodores. haha

    • Unsolicited advice? Keep the engine as close to stock as you can. Nothing wrong with adding some boost and making a little more power, but given where you are, you really don't want to try to make it into a monster. I can't imagine the roads are up to it, and the lack of locla support when it grenades will be a ball ache. FWIW, If there is a dyno around that you can access, then brand new injectors are a good idea, which will lead you to (at least) putting a Nistune in it, which will allow you to put an R35 AFM on it, all of which will make it possible to make it much much nicer to drive and live with.
    • List all of your mods. It sounds like an aftermarket ECU hitting rev limiter. Like a valet mode, or a cold rpm limiter?
    • @Kapr Haha yeah thats the one. I missed that you had a built up engine, I wouldn't want to run it on there either then. It was good in my situation just to replace the original turbo on a stock engine. @MBS206Yep definitely not a replacement for anything name brand
    • You are selling this? I have never bought something from marketplace...i dont know if i trust that enough. And the price is little bit "too" good...
