Hey guys,

I did a quick search but couldn't really find anything that detailed what needs to be done to fit GTR bov's to my R34 GTT engine.

From what i understand, GTR's use a twin bov system, which means i would need to get some custom piping done. Basically i just wanted to know if anyone has done this before and what was involved, or if not, if someone knows what exactly would need to be done to fit them?

Cheers,

Martin

Oh, really? I thought they needed the twin setup to work properly? Although to be honest i don't understand why...

So you can just use one and they fit straight on to where the RB25 one was? Still sound the same as they do on a GTR? Sound isn't important, i just think they sound awesome, so if they sound the same then thats a bonus

the hose can be "made" to fit..

needs more lube and pushing

Are we still talking about the bov?

Lol, thanks guys, so i can use a single GTR bov and it is a straight bolt on replacement for the RB25 one, no modification needed?

What diameter piping does the GTR bov use compared to the RB25 bov, do you know? Don't have the new engine yet, so can't go measure for myself :)

Hey guys,

Just wondering if running a single GTR bov will produce the same sound as running the twin set up? I just absolutely love the sound of the GTR bov's, but if it's not gonna sound the same with a single bov then i want to try and get two working...

This is the sound i am after:

that 2nd youtube video is great but they arent stock bovs. the stock ones wont give flutter.

I've been told that's not actually flutter, it's the turbulence created by the air flowing from the two bov's into the single return pipe. My mates GTR sounds exactly like this and the bovs are definitely stock on his car

GTR BOV's will "teeter" off each other etc, however one will cleraly not do that on its own.

This is what a single will sound like if the BOV can't quite pas all the air (this was a single on mine, it was ok, tiny flutter)

Ok but that still sounds quite similar to the twin setup. I'm not really after the flutter effect, just the sound of the bov. Does your bov sound like that all the time, or just under heavy load?

Say i wanted to install the twin setup on my car, what would need to be done? Is it possible? How would it differ to the single setup?

Hi Guys, sorry to hijack the thread but are you using GTR bovs on RB25DET's just for noise or is there another purpose?

Will the standard RB25DET one handle 300rwkw?

MOST people don't use them just for the noise, rather the fact that they are a very very good bov and can handle a lot of boost. I personally love the sound of them, i think they are the best sounding bov you can get. So i'm going for the upgrade, but really want the sound as well seeing as they sound so good.

Whats wrong with your GTT bov? When does it max out power wise?

Honestly i wouldn't know, engine will only be going in next week sometime :P

Stock GTT bov would be more than capable for me at first, i will only be running 12psi when i first get it back. But once i get the new turbo i will be running 18psi+, so i would like the GTR bov to have the peace of mind handling that boost.

If you're not after the sound then really i wouldn't worry about upgrading unless you are having problems with your bov.

    • Hello, first of, I’ve looked at many threads on this code but none have helped me, if you know one that will help me feel free to post a link.   Now to my problem. Recently I was driving and noticed the check engine light came on. I went home and did the test to see what code it gave. I got the 21 code but everything seems fine with the car, no misfire, idle is good, acceleration is the same as when I bought it. I mean no signs of obvious failure. If no misfire is happening I can rule out the coil packs right? Which is about 98% of posts saying it is. If anyone has had this happen and found the issues let me know please. No other lights are on.   The car WAS due for an oil change. I since then changed it so idk if that triggers code 21. Either way it hasn’t turned off.
    • Your both right, it may hold a bit longer then.  Soon I need to change the synchros, should I fit the billet plate while I'm at it? Or just a waste of money?
