Can someone cast some light as to why cops in Perth have nothing better to do than pull over performance cars for the most piss weak reasons and continually harass the drivers of these cars for no apparent reason as well.

Long story short, was driving along in East Vic Park doing the speed limit and what do you know, a marked car goes past and instantly turns around to pull me over. Their excuse - my window tint was too dark, what a load of f**king bullshit!!

As I don't have to say anymore, they stickered my car.

I took it over the pits at Welshpool and as I expected they picked the shit out of it. Just some of the faults they reckon are -

1. Too low - need 100mm clearance, which it has but the exhaust can is a little lower by 15mm WTF?

2. No load rating stamped on the 255's on the rear

3. Front mount Intercooler installed and as a result I had to remove the front bumper support. The intercooler is like a structural member and much stronger than the piss weak piece of flat steel that it replaced.

4. No battery box for ventilation

If anyone knows of a mod or a bracket I can fit so I can keep my front mount Hybrid Intercooler would be great.

Ok enough whinging

If it has Tyres or Tits

Its gotta be FUN!!!

Im not suprised, my car got a yellow for only 1 reason - the lowest point on my car (my dump pipe) was 90mm off the ground, only 10mm off the legal limit

funny thing was, i gave way to him as he passed me at a round about and then later down the road, around 100m, he stopped at a bus top, waited for me to pass, and then sped up behind me, right up my ASS.. then sirens come on.. im thinking..... wat the f**k man, ur kidding me.....

then hes like, this is a random license and breathaliser check, im like bullshit! (in my head ofcourse) acted all nice and polite, and he still slapped on a yellow

some cops really have their priorities ALL WRONG, anyone who challenges me on this should be shot!

I love these.

1:

The lowest point of your entire car and ALL of its equipment must be above 100mm.

This is not just to stop you from looking like a jack-ass, but its practacle.

2:

What cheap ass brand tyres are they ?

3:

Sorry buddy, but your intercooler is NOT stronger than your crash bar....your intercooler was probably installed for aesthetics and power you don't really need. The crash bar is there to save you, and your car. Again, don't do shit the cheap way - install the intercooler properly without cutting / shutting, and you have no drama's. If you need to cut the bbar to get it in there, the intercooler is too big. You don't need an intercooler too big to fit in there without structural modification.

This is a simple ADR ... no comment.

Hmmmm, battery box? Now I have to admit, this one has me worried and a little confused. What does this actually mean in the context of having the battery in your boot? Mine is just sitting on a plastic dish (the one that came with the car) and clamped down (like it was when it came with the car). Is this stickerable?

R33's came with special batteries which allowed a tube to be plugged into the battery. This tube then went down thru a hole in boot and out under neath somewhere. This allowed the battery to ventilate. If you have changed your battery to an australian one, then i doubt it came with this modifcation on the battery.

There is also vents in the boot it self, bottom drivers side in the corner.. Take a look. Im sure that these are there due to the battery being in the boot.

I am running a jap spec battery so ive managed to keep that tubing. IF i was to go Australian type battery, i would just get a dry cell which doesnt need ventilaton as far as i am aware... =)

This.

why do tools like nic comment crap like that?

its like total cop talk

Legality says the car has to have 100mm clearance...which it does EXCEPT for the exhaust which is 15mm low. Sooooo it actually doesnt have 100mm clearance?

All tyres have to have load ratings on them.....his tyres do not.

To cut or modify a main structual part of the car is not allowed. Never has, never will....so why is it a problem that they picked that?

Not sure why you thinks its 'total cop talk'.

+1

Keep your car legal, it's not that hard.

15mm difference in height isn't even noticeable visually, but it is illegal. So just get your car raised 15mm, it will look exactly the same but will be legal. Not a big deal

If your car doesn't have 100mm clearance, you won't make it over the pits, literally.. there is a lip on the edge of the pit you have to clear. Stupidly low cars are silly anyway, best thing I ever did to the skyline (other than the 3L :)) was raise it up off its' balls. Handles better, better bump steer characteristics and no longer had to fear speed bumps.

    • Seems like a decent result for a modded JZX110. They are bulky in comparison to the 100 and 90 models (which I'd prefer myself) but they are getting very few and far between here in JP these days. Thanks for the detailed review and the import process into the UK. I also have a car which I'm hoping to export from Japan at some stage so it's good to know if someone from the UK was interested in it. By the way the corrosion underneath is par for the course for cars which were located in/near the mountains or along the Japan sea coastline. They get huge amounts of snow every winter and the sodium chloride is used on the roads. Many cars have some kind of rubber like treatment underneath but they tend to limit it to the wheel arches underbody and fuel tank. Suspension arms and sub-frames will have similar corrosion to your JZX110 which is a common sight. See it all the time and car dealers here generally don't even mention it unless asked.
    • If the sound goes away when you clutch in, the 1.5/2 way diffs are just shit, and you are a normal person. The diff is likely "fine" but driving at anything under 30kmh is a violent horrible experience. It would be exaggerated with solid diff bushings and subframe bushings if you have those.
