sup guys

i know some clown (or maybe many) will probs try to flame me saying shit like "just dont speed dickhole" "buy a skyline" etc etc, but anyways, here is a heads up about speed cameras over Easter, and maybe beyond which i just found

so drive safe :D

Covert speed cameras will be deployed on Queensland roads for the first time from Thursday, coinciding with the traditional Easter holiday break.

Descriptions of the three unmarked vehicles containing the hidden cameras are such closely guarded secrets that not even the Police Minister knows what they look like.

In all likelihood they will not know until the letter arrives in the mail. Not that I condone speeding I just don't believe that this is the way to fix the problem. They claim it all for the road toll but if you actually look at the % for fatalities on QLD roads its quite... sobering =P

Two unmarked police motorcycles will also join the war on speed, with officers dressed as normal riders to catch unsuspecting motorists.

From what I've heard there are two white Gen 2 Hayabusa's in Bris..

they have very small police markings on windscreen & rear hump

*rolls eyes* Definitely not the way to solve speeding problems. Hidden mobile vans etc.. don't make people slow down unless they see them. Yes they shouldn't be speeding, but a mobile radar that is "out of site" isn't going to prevent people speeding and "apparently" reduce accidents.. it's simply a cost effective way of raising revenue whilst having little-to-no effect on the rate of speed related accidents.

There are some roads that are very easy to speed through, some of which can be a bit dangerous to speed on because of the level of intersections on the road. Put up a fixed speed camera and people won't speed through there! oh but then they won't make money....

It wouldn't piss me off so much if they approached this problem better.. but hey it's a bit hard to fix the problem when the problem is making them money. At least put the money back into the roads like they apparently do... i've been driving over the same pot-hole since moving to QLD nearly 3 years ago!

If they really wanted to improve driver behaviour (and by this I don't simply mean speeding), then a greater police presence on the roads is what they need. I'm sure most people when they see a Police car on the road, they pull their ass into line and do the right thing! Undercover police cars are much the same thing as hidden radars in my opinion...they simply catch people of guard, whereas a known police presence ensures that people behave on the roads. Once again though, having a greater police presence on the roads costs money and doesn't make as much revenue as a van parked many meters from the road, much like the one I saw yesterday.

The only issue with that too though is that drivers tend to overreact when they drive into a Police lineup with cameras. You can almost always tell when there's one up ahead as traffic almost comes to a halt!

Of course for drivers of modified imports, a greater presence isn't a good thing either, as lets face it, majority of the time you get stereo-typed and unfairly targeted. Double edged sword I guess.

I think the Australia Government needs to take a page out of other countries to see how they handle these issues. Take a look at Germany for example... this article here pretty much sums up my argument: http://www.caradvice.com.au/60110/fast-is-safe-in-germany/

    • It is a kunfine Android screen . Does anyone know the wirering diagram of the fuga ??
    • just an update to this, poor man pays twice  Tried sanding down the pulleys but it didnt do the trick. Chucked another second hand alternator in the na car which I got for free off my mate and its fixed the squelling. Must have been unlucky with the bearings.    As for my turbo car, I managed to pick up a cwc rb alternator conversion bracket + LS alternator for 250 off marketplace, looked to be in really good nick. Installed it , started the car and its not charging the battery.... ( Im not good with auto elec stuff so im not sure if this was all I needed to do but I verified such by using a multimeter on the battery when the engine was running and I was only getting 12.2v )   I had to modify the earth strap for the new LS alternator , factory earth strap was a 10mm bolt which did not fit the bolt on the LS alternator which was double the size so I cut it off , went to repco bought some ring terminals that fit, crimped it onto the old earth strap and bolted it up to the alternator , started the car and same issue. Ran like shit and was reading 12.2 at the battery.  For a "plug and play" advertised kit thats not very plug and play but alas.  My question is , am I missing something ? Ive been reading that some people recommend upgrading the stock 80 amp alternator fuse to a 140 amp but I dont see how that would stop the alternator charging especially at idle not under load.  Regardless ive pulled it out and am going to get it bench tested by an auto elec tomorrow but it would be handy to know if ive missed something silly or have done something wrong.
    • My wild guess is that you have popped off an intake pipe....check all of the hoses between the turbo and the throttle for splits or loose clamps.
    • Awesome, thanks for sharing!
    • To provide more specific help, more information is needed. What Android screen? What is its wiring diagram? Does the car's wiring have power at any required BAT and ACC wires, and is the loom's earth good?
