Just got back from the movies tonight and at some stage during the 2 hours or so we were in there someone nicked the number plates of my mate's car... front and back!

Must've taken them a few minutes and I was (still am) completely dumbstruck that someone could stop in a shopping centre car park (sunnybank) and carefully remove both number plates from a car parked in a very visible spot without someone interrupting them.

Anyway, we stood there for a few minutes totally stunned by all this, then discussed whether he should call the police to report it. Ended up deciding they wouldn't be able to do anything much anyway so we both got in our cars and left... just as we were leaving the carpark a police car was coming in - first time I've ever seen one cruising around there. It chucks an immediate u-turn and pulls my mate over... yeh, no-one's around to see the plates get nicked but the police turn up after we'd gone less than 100m!

My mate wasn't too worried about the plates, even though they're unique (6-letter) personalized plates - he's confident he'll get a replacement set for little or no cost. He was just glad they didn't key the car in the process... Plus, at least the police ended up knowing about it, so the thief will never be able to use them on a car (trust me, they attract attention - a little too much)... they'll probably just turn up on ebay, or the thief will just try to impress his mates/boyfriends with them.

Dude, report it to the police !!

Just imagine if they have a car simular to yours, same make, same colour, and decide to put the plates on and have some fun through some red light cameras or speed camera's !!

Or do something worse !!

if your plates go walkies you need to let the department of transport know so they can give you a bit of paper for it. Mate had his stolen.

So they use the plates and a lookalike car for an armed robbery.....then make a clean getaway while a bunch of nervous heavily armed cops are surrounding your house.... Best of luck mate.....yeah it's not worth reporting to the cops

But yeah, that carpark is hopeless. We put a carboard/excel bodykit on our mates sigma there one night, took us a good 15mins, no one said a bloody word. And it wasnt a small cardboard kit either... Just dont park at GrandPlaza for more than 5mins.

hahaha dangerous, good call about the plaza. Parked my car for under an hr there and got 2 small dents. And that was at the back quite part of the park.

So what were these plates named? Then maybe we could keep an eye out for them perhaps ???

Sunnybank carpark! You just said it in one go...my GF works at the centre..she had her car keyed the other week.

It just takes too much effort to watch your car while picking up the GF and make sure the trolley boys aren't ranskacking your stereo. It plain sucks in that place!

i never leave my skyline at shopping centre car parks. I always take my gf's old rusty mazda. Its great peace of mind not worrying about it all the time. Too many jelous pricks out there that cant hack that other people can afford shit and they cant
