Hey Guys,

I just got a r32 and am pretty new around here.

just wondering about a good alarm to get and who can install them?

any ideas? i;m currently leaning towards a viper 5901 because ive had one in the past....

1st thing is to join the SAU VIC club and be a paid member.

Then approach this car alarm guy called Ben. He did alarms for heaps of SAU members. Not too sure whether he still does it though. Maybe some one else can fill us in on his status?

where do you join up and how much is it?

In the Vic section there is are forms http://www.sauvic.com.au/files about $50 a year for renewal after the first signup.

In regard to Ben, call him on his mobile :/

Yeah it is a "members only" deal, so hence the first link does not work :D

Basically with the amount you save on the supply/install of the alarm is more than 1st year membership...

Add in then you can get other great discounts, priority notice for DECA's, cruises/BBQ's (all subsidised), door prizes @ general meetings and so on... its just a constant win for your money if you are a person that likes to see value for your money :/

Of course i am incredibly bias being I am President :/

yea i trieddd.. "Sorry, the link that brought you to this page seems to be out of date or broken."

That's because you ARE a registered SAU forum member, NOT a SAU VIC member....

And since that link links you to the SAU VIC members only section, that's why it won't work you for :(

So once you join up SAU VIC and paid for your membership ($70), then you will get a purple tag like the rest of us under our forum name, THEN you click on the link, and BAM! that link will link you to BEN! and his number :(

You call Ben up on his mobile and ask for quote, then book your car in :(

Also i notice that no one is mentioning his price, so in the end you HAVE to join SAU vic to get his number to find out what his price is, im not a trusting person and all of this sounds like the ground work for a scam.

    • Nah that is not actually a lot. Just painting my GTR frontend and the little bits to make sideskirts/nismo flare pieces work correctly/fit on the sedan/mount up correctly came to about $7000. Is it a lot? Sure. None of this is economical. Economy would be shelling the car and buying a 2010 Corolla to commute in. The perspective of all of this is different.

    • I don't see any issues here. I've been saying all along this is a big job, the price reflects that.  When the car comes back perfect I'm sure it will feel like money well spent.
    • Remember, take original quote. Double it. Then add a bit more. It's how any project goes.
    • So, I started this repair and got as far as "fixing" the holes with some fibreglass. God all those years working on boats came back quickly. I decided I'd reach out to some rust guys just to see what they would say about it. I came across a guy about 40 mins away and went to see him. He said the windscreen needs to come out, that there might be some more bits around the windscreen and he'd quote them at the time. But his quote was $300 to remove and replace windscreen and $3k for the damage he can see. He said he could respray the roof for $1200 and the bonnet for another $800 (somebody has previously rattle canned it, its horrendous). This is $5300 + any small additional bits. It's a lot, I get that and the name of one of my fave youtube channels 'Not Economically Viable' comes to mind.  I'm not being financially rational, but I've taken him up on the quote. He's opening a new shop in November with more room, so we're waiting for that. I'll leave the currently missing headliner out until then. I'm looking forward to it being fixed and having the paint looking nice again (lots of clear coat issues on the roof too). / flame suit on.
