Hey guys was just wondering if i were to modify my v35 what would i have to do to get around 200rwkw, would i need to do any major mods or are there light modifications i can make that will give me significant power gains? is there anyone on the forums that has made this kind of power without needing anything like a turbo kit/super charger?

Proper pod cai, plenum spacer, plugs, headers, high flow cats, catback exhaust, ecu flashed or piggybacked and possibly stage one cams. You may try to skip cams and do lightweight flywheel and underdrive pulleys.

You'd get similar "feel" if you change the final drive gearset btw.

No worries. Defintely attainable. There are some unopened de's going around with 190rwkw. You're just gonna need to do the last bolt ons available or pop in some drop in stage one cams so you won't need to touch the valves and springs.

It's what I was gonna do but alas I'm selling my v ATM.

I'm curious how it'd be with 200rwkw+ and swapped final drive gearset =O

Perhaps on a very happy dyno.

Also, the final drive WILL change the dyno reading, beacuse it is a reading of the power at the wheels (not the engine). Its the same as doing it in a lower or higher gear. So i'm not sure what you mean by "feel"?

I now have Extractors and Grounding kit(I don't now if this gives you any more power but when i bought the kit it claimed 5hp) and i'm hoping to get 190rwkw with these new mods. Next is Exhuast and a Dyno Tune. Fingers crossed i get the 200rwkw.

Agreed. On a VQDE rolling a dyno dynamics dyno in shootout mode you will be hard pressed to make it to 200...maybe if you do everything and a 4.9 final drive. I've only heard of one VQDE making more than 200rwkw in NA, and it was an expensive exercise from what I hear, involving high-comp pistons and upgraded valvetrain.

The final drive mod won't affect the kw atw reading too much. I've had runs done in 3rd and 4th in one of my previous cars and the kw reading was honestly about 3kw difference or so iirc.

When i said "feel" i meant the acceleration rate/g's pulled should be close-ish between a V35 with bolt ons and a V35 with mostly standard stuff and a final drive gearset.

I think full bolt ons and cams should just touch 200 but i may be wrong of course!

I've hit 182 on a dyno dynamics and that was with stock headers, cats, y pipe, airbox (but with ztube and panel filter) and pulleys still. Plus the y back exhaust i had was more tuned for sound than flow/power. Add headers, metal cats, y pipe, lightweight fly/pulleys and it should hit near 200 imho, drop some stage one cams and it will be there or over in my mind.

To the OP, just remember weight is the mainy enemy in the V. Look up Amuse 350z to see how the vq35 goes with bolt ons and much less weight..

Oic well if bolt on mods can at least get me close ill be happy i wouldnt say the power of a stock v35 is lacking just wouldnt mind having a bit more there for a little more fun i was under the impression an exhaust doesnt make too much of a difference but had planned on getting one for the sound anyway but if it does even better!

I totaly forgot..... I have Light Wieght Underdrive Pulleys aswell :P So i'm sure i'll get over 190rwkw. I'll see if i can get a dyno run next week.

I pulled a 14.5 up in Townsville in summer with a full tank of petrol and everything in the car "spare wheel jack etc" with 35 profile tyres pumped to 40PSI

Id say with less than 1/4 tank of petrol no crap in the boot and the stock wheels/tyres with a lower pressure as i did get wheel spin "lazy diff" perfect launch and a good reaction a flat 14 would be acheivable at around 170 to 175rwkw

Thats what I thought too after running a 14.85 sec best run last Dec with a totally stock (160rkw dyno dynamics shoot out mode) car. However experimenting with 1/8 tank of fuel and no boot contents (spare etc removed) has only resulted in shocking axle tramp untill tyre pressures are below 30psi and then dont seem to bite off the line. Will get new data next Sat from willowbank but 'seat of the pants' testing hints at slow hole shots from too light a rear end set up.

Reason I cited a 13.9 pass was that an aquaintance with a 200rwkw coupe got this time from his best run of the day a couple of years ago.

I have personal experience against a stroked (3.7 litre) coupe that could only manage a 15.50 sec pass same run as my 14.85. His was auto and a free wheeling diff (no lsd ) so attribute the slow time to traction issues.

Just got home from the Dyno and i got 191rwkw. Mods Popcharger with Z Tube, Plenum Spacer, light wieght Pulleys, Extractors and a Grounding kit.

I Dyno the car stock when i got it and had 163rwkw. So about 28kw of mods. 9 more to go :rofl2:

    • So.... the K&N air box thingo was too big, ended up gifting it to a mate, well, by gifting it he actually supplied food and beer at the pub,  which was nice, as it will not sit on a shelf in the garage for the next 10 years I did trim up some of the existing stuff to neaten it all up and gave it some wrinkle paint, unfortunately it currently has a used and abused mish mash of different types of hose clamps, 4 big fat T bolt type (shit), and a few normal clamps of vairing sizes and brands, but..... only until the 6 constant tension black worm clamps that I ordered from EFI solutions turn up next week Currently the current hose clamps are triggering me hard, LOL Is this the final version, probably not, I really want just 2 silicone pieces, a straight bit of silicone from the filter to the MAF is easy and will happen as soon as I head into Just Jap tomorrow, the problematic part is a 30° silicone bend from the MAF to the TB that I can connect the engine breather from the head, I found that there are bulk head fittings for boat bilge pumps that should work, but until I can get a 30° silicone bend the alloy pipe, and the 11ty thousand hose clamps, are there for the foreseeable future 4 hose clamps are golden, 6 are grudgingly acceptable, the 8 currently holding it all together is just taking the piss    I've also ordered 60 more retaining wall blocks for the front yard, I mis-gonculated the height that was required to get above the base of the Photinia's (red robin's) that are the hedge behind the front fence, currently it is 2 blocks high, and about 1/2 a block short, so going 3 blocks high will be above the base of the red robin's, and allow some room for mulch
    • It is the stock air box with the panel filter. Everything else is stock except the exhaust at this point, as I also went back to the cleaned 270cc injectors. I will check the RPM when the IACV is unplugged and report back.
    • As MBS suggested if this is happening when the engine is cold you're going to want to remove the intake air regulator and verify resistance + that the shutter is physically opening and closing. At -20C should be fully open, 20C half open, over 60C fully closed. At 20C should be 70-80 ohms. For AAC valve testing using a Consult cable see if you can raise and lower the idle by commanding more or less AAC duty cycle. Hopefully it's pretty linear as well, shouldn't be like 30% AAC valve is barely idling and 40% is 1500 rpm.

    • Not sure yet.  Was considering speedtek because it was rated to 800hp, but when I did some research about him I don't think I will go for that🤣 So maybe giken gear set, but I'm afraid it won't be strong enough🙄
