Hey, i want to do some work on the ol' stag, but am a little worried about this attessa business,

I want to do an Auto Flush, Replace both diff oils, and do the transfer, what will require a bleed,

And if none do, how do i replace the attessa oil,

I believe the Auto is castol Transmax E

and the attessa is dextron 2, will 3 work, or better yet will transmax work,

Need help from someone who knows alot about the autos in the stagea as i have a fluid leak at the back of the box, i believe its from where the attessa fluid goes into the box, and i need to know if its a common leak, and what parts are required if so, will post up a pic, thanks in advance

You need a 20L container of a good synthetic atf which you can use in the Atessa, auto and power steering.

Do a bit of searching there were full instructions on changing the Atessa fluid not long ago.

Trans oil should not leak from back of box.

Shouldn't leak but it is faily common. There is a flared fitting that goes into the back of the xfer case from the attessa pump....first thing would be to back it off a turn and then tighten it again, making sure it seats smoothly.

I would use transmax in the transmission, transfer case, attessa pump and power steering, good stuff and keeps it simple. expensive though.

I can't help with the auto trans but for the rest:

power steering - disconnect the lowest line at the steering rack and let it drain. do it back up, fill up the PS resoviour. Start the car and turn the wheel from full lock to full lock a few times, it bleeds itself.

transfer case - undo the filler plug, it is half way up on the driver's side. Always make sure you can open the filler first (although if its a manual you can fill via the gear shifter if you measure the amount). Undo the drain on the bottom, let the fluid drain out. Do up the drain and fill via the filler until a little fluid trickles out, then replace filler plug

attessa - remove the line at the back of the gearbox and let it drain. a little lithium grease or similar on the threaded fitting then smoothly and carefully do it up again. Make sure it seats firmly. fill the resoviour in the boot to over max. rear of the car up on stands, out of gear, start the engine. crack the bleeder at the gearbox just above where the line goes in - it should pump fluid out smoothly. when no bubbles close the bleeder. Sometimes this does not work/is not enough, if not there is a second bleeder up near the diff you may need to bleed the same way.

Thanks all, cost of fluid shouldnt be an issue as my workshop just changed from dextron3 to transmax. Will look into the gearbox leak further, just wanted to check the waters as most problems cars have are a model fault and they all experience it at some point, but maybe mine has been played with previously. thanks for all the input

    • Agreed, I've never seen a 260RS specific manual. As GTSBoy said it will mostly be stagea other than the engine loom https://www.hgeconsulting.com.au/stageaservicemanual.pdf
    • You'lll likely have to make do with R33 GTR for engine/tranny stuff, and Stagea for the body. I don't know that there's even been an actual diagram seen in the wild.
    • Haha, i kow right? Could have bought so many cars for the same amount of money (or less) but driving Unicorn gives you at least +1mln to style 😅. Like wise man said "life's to short to drink cheap wine and drive boring cars" 😉
    • Newbie here, proud owner of an Autech 260RS. I'm on the hunt for wiring diagrams specific to the 260RS, particularly S1. I've ran my eyes through R33, R34 Diagrams, there are some similarities, however continue to find incorrect wire colours and pins on connectors in the 33,34 diagrams.   I was hoping someone could point me in the right direction? I'd be happy to pay for the originals in Japanese. I can translate them, at least they would be accurate.   Any help please would be greatly appreciated, never heard an RB26DETT before let alone driven one, and I've got a spaghetti monster of goodness to sort out.   Cheers Benny
