lol i didnt mean it would take 20 years to learn to build a motor, but to build a motor to the same standard as the likes of rips or red r etc probably would because of all the experience they have gained in that time. this guy seems to think he can master building a high hp engine with a few weeks of tutoring. unlikely.

if theres anywhere you can go to do a course on performance engine building then it would probably be in japan. even so, he would have to go and learn a new language first

Wow its a crazy world we live in.

I didnt ask for a high spec engine i wanted a normal rb26dett.

I agree building a motor like this isnt for me and i wont attempt it.

But i will make sure i am not going to be in this position again.

so im going toi start learning on some shitty corollas and other cars.

Thankyou for your advice and true to the fact i wasnt being realistic and i guess you have explained it really well.... was an idiot to even think of attempting it.

But i guess the easiest approach here would be to eithersend my engine to japan or new zealand or even uk.

or buy another engine which i think im actually going to do .

Any one with some Brand new Nur spec engines for sale .

Im also looking for a some garrett gt2860 -5's actually i am looking for some Nur spec N1 Cores cause my bearing cores are shot.

If not is there any one out there that can give me a really good price on some Garrett Gt2871R's -10

Thank you all

kind regards

Adam

Give it up...

It's obvious you just want to feel sorry for yourself.

As harsh as that sounds - you said you don't have the money etc to send it all over the world - yet:

- You own an R34 GTR Nur

- You have already spent $15k USD on the car.

To me looks like your doing ok... If you just did it properly the first time, you wouldn't need this help and the money would have been well spent.

This engine building stuff is just silly - RIPS has offered - you haven't done anything. I wanted to learn how to build engies - so I did a course I read book after book and learned how to do it.

Sorry if this is rough, but am I the only one seeing this go round in circles? (BTW Where are these magical pictures...)

my first engine failure where the arp bolt failed after a very well known tuner in south africa rebuilt my engine not sure if i can mention their names on here would love to as he has caused my nothing but hell and wont compensate me for possibly a overtightened bolt or undertitghened.

i spen 15k over a period of three years so 5k a year roughly saving hard .

i bought the car and put down 10 000 usd and am paying off the rest over like 5 years .

so basically i am not rich i loved the car so much i worked my butt off to get it and now i have a long way to pay off and still no engine 15k later ts rough especially knowing rob has quoted me 15k to build a bottom end thats fully balanced and forged with a good used 33 block not even my n1 block ??

so i still have to add a good head and some good turbos and a clutch assembly .

a brand new nur unit from rhdjapan is 11 000usd .

a nismo fine spec is 13 000usd

turbos 3 000usd

clutch and clutch cover and flywheel 2300usd including shipping.

the costs all add up and it would be better for me to pay shipping from one way outside in then both ways as its adds even more costs.

I really want to feel sorry for you mate, but - Do it once do it properly.

RIPS quoted you 15k for a bottom end because its not going to break! He has a very good track record and his prices reflect his knowledge and workmanship.

GTR's are expensive.

    • Does it also misfire equally when revving?   Josh is very correct in what you should do. The coilpack harness wiring loom itself is a known problem due to its age and the number of heat cycles it has gone through. Throwing parts at a vehicle to diagnose the issue isn't a smart or good way to do it. Secondly, you may have a bad coil pack, you pop replacements in, they fix that issue, but messing with the harness breaks it, so the issue persists. So now you think "well it wasn't the coil packs" and have to continue chasing your tail, potentially swapping back in your shit coil packs and returning the good ones (yes, I've seen people do this because 'it wasn't the problem' and they want to save money). And suddenly, you've got two issues with the same symptoms...   Diagnose, don't use the spare parts shotgun.
