After searching for the last 2 hours reading through old threads ive given up!

Im thinking about making up a oil cooler and relocation kit from earls as they dont seem to sell them in kits?

Has anyone done this and know exactly what they used and how much it ended up costing?

I might just have to stop being lazy and measure everything up but would be good to know exactly what other people of done i want the biggest cooler i can fit in a 32 gtrs duct (dont want one between cooler and radiator)

cheers!

I run a setup of all Earl/Speedflow bits, Earl's & Speedflow -10 fittings, Earl's -10 steel braided lines, Earl's 19row core, Earl's relocator in my R32 GTR, boostworx installed in the passenger duct and they said they barely made it fit.

Do you know how much all those bits cost? just wondering if its easier to go a jap brand kit

Some of the high end jap cooler kits are actually just all Earl's bits and pieces (from what I understand, and are actually better than the jap stuff) that are made to the correct lengths and fittings required for that specific model of skyline and mounting location, mine was a Trust kit meant for a R33/R34 GTR to be mounted behind the intercooler.

I needed extra Speedflow fittings because I added a B&M in-line oil thermostat, plus needed extra -10 hose to run it all the way to the passenger side duct.

The most expensive part by far is the fittings.

Made a mistake too, it was a 16row not a 19row core

honestly it will be easier to just get the trust R32 GTR duct mounted kit. it goes in the passenger side duct (no room in drivers side with factory BOVs), it includes the right lenths of earls -10 hose (all pre-cut and assemlbed), it has all the right earls fittings, it comes with brackets to mount the core, it comes with a good quality engine take off plate (complete with sender ports), it comes with remote filter mount which has a built in thermostat and more pressure and temp sender ports and the brackets to mount it neatly too. plus they have a very good quality core (not earls). only the fittings and lines are earls, everything else is trust specific (core, take off, filter mount, etc).

yes they cost money. around $1000 but you get a lot for that money and they are a snack to fit compared to having to measure and cut lines yourself. plus it doesn't take many -10 earls fittings to work up a few hundred bucks just in those (kit has 8 fittings in it average about $40 each).

I used a serck speed core in the driver's side (deleted BOVs). $300 or so.

Thermostat + filter mount where battery used to be. $50 or so.

Pirtek braided lines x 4 (2 block <> filter; 2 filter <> cooler) ended up using 4-5m of hose and 8 fittings. Allow another $300 or so.

Figure out where you're going to put the core, drop in to your local Pirtek and ask. They will make the hoses to fit and charge you for what you use.

Cheers,

SW

    • A few small updates since the previous post and lessons. I decided to do a little interior light upgrade on the 110. I quite like the iilumo items, even if they're a bit of a premium over other brands. You'll also note the Stedi Fogs, that will go into the S15 fog lights as I needed to match the bulbs since I got the new ones earlier. I hope they fit as the body is quite a bit longer than your normal bulb.  Annoyingly, I managed to trip the fuse, which normally wouldn't be an issue until I located the fuse. I can't say I've ever come across this. I had lucked out that someone nearby had a spare, but oddly enough Toyota dealerships seem to keep this in stock. I ordered some to keep in my stash and as luck would have it, someone else nearby tripped the same fuse so I passed on the favour.  I also did a little service on the 110 ahead of some additional work coming up. It's been annoying that Goleby's stopped carrying this particular HKS filter for the 110, so now I need to keep them on order from Japan. I also took the opportunity to install a bash plate and number plate riser. The plate riser is such a cheap but nice fix to help really tidy up the car. I'm tempted to now also replace my headlights, on this car. Both items were from Project Aero.    I also needed to replace the rear tyres on the 110, and after trying to get it aligned learnt that I need to replace some bushes in the front end, so that's next.  Closing out this update with a nicer picture as always!
    • Yeah mate, never miss it.
    • Any going to watch World Time Attack at SMSP this year?
    • Appreciate the correction on the "ground", that will make a huge difference to looking at this. That makes complete sense about AF70/AF71 which is what I had come down to being the issue, one of these. I'll have another look in the ignition wiring when I get a chance next week. I'll also make up a jumper wire for running that AF73 test.  ECU is fine, relay itself is fine, pump harness is fine and the pump itself is fine. I am going to upgrade the Walbro 255 anyway with a DW300 I have since I need to replace the fuel sender and I'm going to upgrade the FPR with my chasebays kit ready for new plenum/injectors/dbw, but I'll get this working first. That's why this is so frustrating.
