Was just thinking.. (yes it hurt)

where the hell is everyone.

When I first started whor..uhh posting here we had heaps of people around sydney, the cruises where big and the threads allowed one to waste a whole day.

Now days its so small, the community has shrunk. No one comes to meets, dinners etc.

So come on people of 2002 / early 03. Come along to the steak night for old times sake!

i think the segregation of australian states within this forum is hurting the synergy of australia wide skyline owners. imho, we can't afford that with such limited knowledge of skylines.

if you look at the victorian section they have almost 3 times the amount of hits to nsw and double the amount of threads.

that is all.

:word:

your right franky, as the NSW skyline community has pritty much died now days. Not that I miss the whoring that much but the scene has dried up.

Well I wasn't here back then and surely I'm a big enough wanker to make up for about ten of "them"?

Hasn't skylinesnsw taken a few people?

I had a look there for a bit it just seemed to be full of (insert your own adjective here).

no no, you miss my point - this has nothing to do with SNSW and SAU....

it has to do with the sections on this forum most commonly read and they are, General Discussion, The Wasteland, NSW, VIC, QLD and Forsale sections....

If you've ever browsed in the other states sections ie. VIC, QLD, WA etc etc the majority of the things they discuss aren't really particular to that state. it could go into general discussion for instance...?

i guess it's comfortable to know you are posting to an audience who you feel closer to, but i think there would be healthier topics discussed if it was infront of a larger audience where the depth of knowledge and idea generation could be potentially much richer.

for instance a person who regularly browses NSW and seldom visits the VIC section may add value into a topic that was brought up in VIC. and conversely someone in NSW who also seldom browses VIC may have been interested in that topic of discussion but missed it because they seldom visit?

i look at PerformanceForums discussions and i just think the calibre of them are sooo much richer because the audience is soo much larger. General Discussion, for instance, boasts something like 350,000 posts and over 15,000 threads - imagine the types of discussions they would be having and the potential great knowledge shared?

I was about to say something like that.

At one time it was NSW vs. Victoria in a tag team whoring session.

I look at the Victorian group and I honestly feel a little bit jealous or bitter even (if that makes sense).

There's such a sense of community that used to be evident here. I also think that unless it's truly parochial in a NSW/Sydney local sense it shouldn't be here.

I wonder if it's because in many ways NSW did it first and like any sort of 'sensation' it's died down a bit.

I hope that everyone makes an effort to do something like we used to in the coming year.

/pokes his head in

i really miss the old days but i seriously do not have the time to read so many posts. and as far as events go, i've been absent from any north shore cruises because my car has been off the road for a long time and when it's on the road i have to take out a loan to quench it's thirst if i cruise north of north.

Is that what you're drinking in you're avatar Carlo???

Nah... Carlos drinking "Dakara", a wierd sweet amino drink thats supposedly good for your heart... well if Carlos drinking, it probably ain't 100% Dakara.

Franks,

I think i can see your point. Really its a case of the NSW forum only being as strong as its members are close. Maybe if we pimped some NSW meets in a big way on the main forums (refer them to here of course) it might be possible to make the community a little tighter and there for the forums more active. That said i'm new here so i'm probably a fair way off the mark.

All i know is that i'd love to get more involved in the scene, theres alot to learn from other members and alot of fun to be had aswell, it just feels like a matter of motivation.

Or maybe we just need to foster a little friendly rivalry between ourselves and the other states.

Heh, i got an idea, a competition, i'll even fund it myself if i can, dont know what kind, or what prize to offer, but it might be a little shove in the right direction, people need a good reason to start frequenting here again.

Scatter brained thoughts as usual, but you never know, i might come up with something worth while one day.

u post.. its too much.. u dont post.. its not enough....

there once was a time when we had a community here carlo.. we had pics with 50+ ppl in it.. were good times.. but every dog has its day.. just like our forfathers egroups and then sdu..

ive come to the conclusion that forums and the communitys that arise from them are just doomed to failure.. those of us who have been around long enough to know exactly why.. just look at snsw!!

isnt that right franky!! u were the cause of a big rift in the egroup days.. what like 4/5 years ago now hahahahh

I reckon there is still plenty of healthy discussion on SAU as a whole, for instance there are more postings each day on SAU than on Performance Forums....and we are meant to be a one model forum (let alone one make!)

We just need to keep events alive...same problem we have with the club itself....then everyone pops by here to talk about it.

Its a damn shame most of the snsw ppl dont drop by any more, but its not like anyone there has ever been discouraged from coming along to sau events

Like Carlo said, get along to the dinner / track day / drag combat / show n shine - theres plenty coming up in the next 4 weeks.

    • Maf is a question mark but TPS  I have set at 0.47, the fact that I’m getting proper voltage range out of it with the key on leads me to believe it’s functioning properly. I’m getting proper voltages on basically everything. I still need to look up voltage ranges for z32 maf and test that
    • Honestly no not at all, but it’s a very basic tune, it’s stock injectors q45 tps and z32 maf. Other than that it’s a completely stock base map. The file is from nistune and from my understanding if it was tune related I would be able to unplug maf and tps and it would still start even if it was a really shitty start. I have tried starting it with coolant temp, maf, and tps unplugged none of those 3 togethor or individually changes anything

One of the things that really sets our club apart is our commitment to being true enthusiasts. • What does it look like with highway driving? And yes, I had a similar thought as Duncan. It looks quite similar in my Stagea and I have made myself accept it as normal. Might have to look into it some day   Highway gets as low as 10l/100km on my end so I'm not as worried about it being a mechanical issue. More likely just the tune on the haltech.
    • While I was waiting for the new parts to come in for the charge pipe and radiator I decided to do some turbo modification. The drive pressure (exhaust backpressure) was a lot higher that I thought it should be. For 32lbs of boost drive was 55lbs. The turbine housing is a 1.10AR and my turbo builder has suggested to go to a 1.25AR. To test if a larger AR would do anything to reduce drive pressure AND not spend any money I decided to hog out the divider in my current housing. I removed it from the inlet and the whole way through the housing.  After reassembly and testing it doesn't look like this modification did anything for reducing drive pressure or requiring more fuel (making more power). Oh well, it was worth a shot. We'll get some data at the track if it makes it past the 60ft. I also machined a $7 shift knob off Amazon to fit my Stillway shifter since I didn't like the Stillway shift knob. Next on the list was the radiator replacement and fabrication of a new intercooler tube that had no silicon coupler. No pictures of this - I was short on time each night after work to get this done and didn't stop to take pictures.  Next was to get the clutch disks out and replaced. Previously when installing the dogbox I had ordered a set of the same sintered iron disks I had been running because I switched to the 26-spline input shaft. I thought it was odd that they didn't have any markings or brand name on them like all my old disks had but installed them anyway. At the track I could not get the clutch to lock up using my normal strategies. After two track nights I reached out to the clutch manufacturer and ask their thoughts. They said they had to switch the material out because they were having trouble getting the original material and that this new material would not take to being slipped very well.  So out with the first set of 26-spline disks and in with the correct material 26-spline disks. While I had the trans out I added an inspection/service hole. I've wanted one of these for a while. Now I can have a look at things and change the front cover shimming when needed (clutch wear). I hustled and got the clutch change done in a few hours on a Saturday. Hopped in the car and drove home. On the way home I did a 1-3 pull. When shifting from 2nd to 3rd the core plug in the back of the cylinder head popped out and dumped all the coolant. Thankfully I was only 30 seconds from home and coasted it there. Datalog showed nothing unusual and 2.5psi of coolant pressure. That plug has been in there since 1992 but I guess it worked its way out. Pulled the trans AGAIN and replaced the plug, JB welded it in, and made a brace. Also deleted the head drain I had added in during the bearing issue fiasco.  I am currently changing my boost control plumbing to make it cleaner. After that is done I'll make another attempt at getting past the 60.
