WHAT THE FUUUUUU!!! That's like buying another GTS-T...

What about fish oil or rust dissolver? Would they work?

I think rust is one of the most underrated problems with Skylines.

This is the cheapest way - and probably the most satisfying...

BTW Alfa Romeos always had a reputation of being worse - much worse.

But cars in the salted roads of USA are just as bad.

Cars in provinces of Canada where they use nail impregnated tyres aren't so bad

nope. if I added a set of floor panels at $3k then it would be a part car.

given your thinking on the amount I posted earlier you would still end up with a rust bucket.

rust dissolver - not in the case of these cars.

Chris, if you haven't bought sills yet, have a look at RHD Japan.

I'm allmost certain I saw RHS and LHS for $253.00 Each.

Rust in mine is minimal so far, If i pull the seals out will that give me more of an idea if its gotten into the window area ?

yes BUT, the lower sills are 4 pieces. I have bought them and they were that price locally. the window areas are a different matter and I would look at it VERY well before pulling it apart. some things require removing a LOT of stuff (and we are talking sheetmetal here.) to access them.

questions , pop past and have a squiz at mine.

Depends on the amount of rust. If its just a little bit of surface rust then just wire wheel the area and use rust converter however if it's rusted through it will need to be either have the holes welded up or a new patch welded in. Fish oil/ rust proofing will only help prevent rust not stop it. I fixed the rust in my R32 2 weekends ago took me a whole weekend to do but lucky i am a panel beater so i had a workshop full of the right equipment to fix it properly and then got the painter to paint it during the week for me. I had to weld new patches in the inner and outer wheel arches

My rust was cause by the old owner in Japan putting on to big of a tyre and hit a bump and dragged the wheel arch down. It would of been an easy fix for him to get done but he must of left it like that for about 10 years spank.gif for it to rust as bad as it was but is all fixed now and the car looks great with all the rust gone biggrin.gif

+1 fpr RHD japan. I got qouted around the 1k mark for front and rear window mouldings and seals.

I just picked up the front one for about 200 bucks. Gonna put a generic on for the rear window when it gets put back in. Very helpful guys to with fast shipping

I must be on a different pricing tier to you locally then.

I do not pay anywhere near that. as for RHD japan, I deal with nissan japan on a lot of my stuff. shipping is the only issue on BIG stuff as that sits on a boat for 6-8 weeks.

    • CTIS (Central Tire Inflation System) has existed since the 80's. I'm looking into buying a Hummer H1 and they generally included it.
    • My idle is set at 950rpm though - Moving the timing around 20 degrees is not really what I'd call a calm idle. That said... neither is chop, by definition. The LS ECU likes to adjust timing to hold idle as opposed to air. It'd work, but generally speaking there'd be a discrepancy in the base idle and the IACV would want to move the timing around anyway to maintain said idle. I think I'm just going to keep the timing steady anyway. Preserve my engine mounts.  My aircon is now officially regassed. As the guy was reversing I noticed my reverse lights do not operate, along with my reverse cam. This is a bit distressing, because 100% of guides talk about which wire to connect to backup cams as "the goes with the [other color] wire". Often when doing conversions. Unfortunately the R34 colour wires aren't documented Unfortunately I had a T56 Magnum gearbox with it's reverse switch, which also isn't documented. Unfortunately there's definitely not documentation for people with both of these in the one car. Unfortunately I forgot. After many hours of this, I have a reverse cam and reverse lights again. The wire going through the trans tunnel to the reverse switch had broken. Upon inspection, it looks like this one wire had about 7 spade terminals and extensions in it.. for reasons I cannot possibly comprehend. I also spent the 750 hours required to clean up the wiring behind my head unit which now looks like this: This is a monumental improvement relative to what used to be there WRT triple gauges, head unit, traction control, wideband controller, and whatever the f**k OEM stuff still exists there in various states of connectivity/needed. Next step is to check in at the Exhaust shop to see/confirm how much clearance I have, to decide what mid mufflers or 'resonators' (which are just straight through, narrower mufflers) I can add and hopefully cut out a lot of exhaust leaks, pinhole, v-band or otherwise. But first step will be to 'take a look' before the next step.

    • Still haven't put the injectors and R35 AFM in so we can tune the bloody thing for the HG highflow it got mid last year! I think I can forecast the upgrade path to a bigger twin scroll, external gate, Haltech, flex setup, Samsonas, dis dat, etc will be .... a while away!
