sheet, thats *this* saturday. Yup.. BP coomera sounds good. 8:30a is an early start, but I think I can make it :P

I'm staying at my mates place down the GC this weekend, so heading down that way anyhow. After DC i'll just head back to the GC.

I am out, picked the line up Friday and one of the turbos decided to shit itself, has been sent to Townsville for repairs but we are out. Feeling a little depressed so have decided not even to spectate.

Good luck to all those racing and make sure you take ALOT of photos of the bikini contest (as well as the racing).

Who is still coming to meet at Coomera tomorrow b4 heading off?

I am still up for it.. but the heat looks like it could put a huge damper over the whole thing if its the forecasted 41 degree heat ends up being a reality!! I know i'd never drag my car in that heat.

If the car turnout is going to be low due to the heat don't want it be a whole waste of time and trip. It seems quite likely ??

Can just save the money and spend the time in my mates pool instead :)

I reckon they should post pone it. If not for the attendees but for the drivers... **** sitting in a car with the windows up and no aircon on with long sleeves, long pants and shoes...

Yeah, seems stupid to be honest. There will be dramas somewhere. But guess you can't just "postpone" a large event like that for those coming from all around QLD and possibly interstate.

blk: by that theory get there early in the morning :) later in the day everybody could have given up and gone home. But no idea !

The postponed it last time it was one. I personally don't think it's such a big issue with this one as compaired to the last one. Last dragcombat was the only event for the whole country. This year they are taking it to nearly every state. But yeah, they postponed the last one, even if it was only for one day :D

Also, I've been watching the trends of the heat lately through the BOM website and it's actually the hottest in Ipswich/Amberley around 2ish in the afternoon, then it drops. So either early morning or late night is the way to go :)

They postponed it for one day last year because of the heavy rain.

So ...it's going to be hot, it might be less humid out there than in Bris. Cancelling would cost them a fortune and is simply not on,

We are taking the car out there ....and we will run, doesn't look good for 12's though.

Any of you guys make it out there, don't be shy, come and introduce yourselves....you might even get a cold drink. Look for a tatty maroon Rangerover with a silver 4 door beside it..shouldn't be hard to spot the number plate....51JAY, nice of him to let me drive his pride and joy

Anyway Ithink we should make the effort to support Drag Combat and we'll be doing our bit See you there

    • Yeah, it's getting like that, my daughter is coming over on Thursday to help me remove the bonnet so I can install the Carbuilders underbonnet stuff,  I might get her to give me a hand and remove the hardtop, maybe, because on really hot days the detachable hardtop helps the aircon keep the interior cool, the heat just punches straight through to rag top I also don't have enough hair for the "wind in the hair" experience, so there is that....LOL
    • Could be falling edge/rising edge is set wrong. Are you getting sync errors?
    • On BMWs what I do because I'm more confident that I can't instantly crush the pinch welds and do thousands of USD in chassis damage is use a set of rubber jacking pads designed to protect the chassis/plastic adapter and raise a corner of the car, place the aforementioned 2x12 inch wooden planks under a tire, drop the car, then this normally gives me enough clearance to get to the front central jack point. If you don't need it to be a ramp it only needs to be 1-1.5 feet long. On my R33 I do not trust the pinch welds to tolerate any of this so I drive up on the ramps. Before then when I had to get a new floor jack that no longer cleared the front lip I removed it to get enough clearance to put the jack under it. Once you're on the ramps once you simply never let the car down to the ground. It lives on the ramps or on jack stands.
    • Nah. You need 2x taps for anything that you cannot pass the tap all the way through. And even then, there's a point in response to the above which I will come back to. The 2x taps are 1x tapered for starting, and 1x plug tap for working to the bottom of blind holes. That block's port is effectively a blind hole from the perspective of the tap. The tapered tap/tapered thread response. You don't ever leave a female hole tapered. They are supposed to be parallel, hence the wide section of a tapered tap being parallel, the existince of plug taps, etc. The male is tapered so that it will eventually get too fat for the female thread, and yes, there is some risk if the tapped length of the female hole doesn't offer enough threads, that it will not lock up very nicely. But you can always buzz off the extra length on the male thread, and the tape is very good at adding bulk to the joint.
    • Nice....looking forward to that update
