Messiah
Guys, I've had my line for a few months now, loving every minute of it. But something has been baffling me since word go. on the back shelf there is a small (maybe the size of a 1ltr ice cream tub but flatter ) box with a few leds and whirring fans, when i asked the previous owner what this was (just after i had bought it) he shugged and said "a dehumidifier" i quizzed further and i was told that it came stock with his import. No problems there, but the thing that is baffling me is none of my mates lines have one, or didnt when they bought them. Have i ended up with the ultimate rice accessorie option (pointless and electronic) or would some one have fitted it after purchase? Cecam
Those air filter / ionisers have been around for years, I've seen them factory fitted into 1984 Bluebirds for example. Yours stopped working properly ages I would imagine, I think they have some filters in there you can change and might get some use from it... Red Sky II
Messiah My Series II has one also and is constantly on - can't seem to find an on/off switch. My Mazda 626 Coupe import had one also (way back in 1990) that some kids stole out of it thinking it was a sub or something. They were called air purifiers from what I remember - was your car a smokers' car in Japan as they seem popular with smokers cars. Don't seem to do much though apart from use up power and take up space. 0HR-30T
Aren't these called negative ion generators? The spose to remove dust, smoke, etc particles from the air,by making the air "heavy" then all the bits of grit in the air fall. Good for keeping the parcel shelf/rear seat area dirty. Messiah
PVA, Pretty sure yeah, it sits well clear of the rear window on the back parcel shelf. not rigged into anything mechanical in the space next to the battery, just power. Sounds to me like it is a dehumidifier/air filter of some type, heh now the curiosity is why i have one but most dont. Makes me feel all special.
