have all the intercooler stuff mocked up. ordered new rubber grommets and the crows foot that holds the return pipe and cooler in place on the bottom. waiting on the invoice for those.

question for those with 'northern' cars - can you pull the mirror control out and get a part number off it please. I have found a set of northern mirrors and need that switch. these are heated units and with out the switch the heaters do not work. I already have the harnesses.

fully stripped 32 GTR subframe - filthy from years of dirt and leaking axles.

thanks to whizzn for this.

lines - all intact and DEFINITELY reusable - if I had to buy them new there are $1200 worth of lines there.

of all that I cannot buy the power steering pump line..

these get cleaned up and reused with new retaining clips (which I already have.)

steering rack. this came with the GTR subframe. going to get a quote to rebuild it back to original. not a lot wrong with it at first glance.

I will find out once i get a chance to run it over to driveline services in brendale how bad it is.

my original needs boots and I dare say rack ends. easier to fix this one.

gurney time. that was taken at the virginia car wash the fellow that managed the place kept watching what I was doing.

when I told him what it was out of he gave me a blank look and walked off..

heat shields - nice and shiny. my original is missing the smaller one.

All cleaned up. that took 6 abrasive sponges and a 1 lt tin on thinners to get it to that point. I still have to clean the lines and the mounting tags up.

it will be a pity to sit an engine on top of this.

this one has a MINOR bend on the front line support- I can fix that with two big wrenches.

once I get the lines cleaned up I will reassemble the whole lot and set it aside for when the body comes back.

I want to do the same with the rear subframe as well. that will be a fairly big exercise though.

bought a GTR bonnet , bonnet latch/support and a grill off ebay - now this is starting to look like something.

panel shop cost is a doozy though :P

hope the girl that gets this car appreciates it. (this is for my daughter for those that didnt read earlier)

going to drop off the radar after this for obvious reasons - locals can track me down if you want to look at it.

I may do text updates but no images unless I can do them in such a way that is doesn't show where the car is kept.

those in SEQ probably realise why I am doing this now instead of later. this thing will owe me a 5 figure sum and I wish it to remain int he condition I built it and not burnt or stripped.

Dang it, will have to email you to get updates Chris.

I finally managed to get some time off work Mon just gone and send you that fuel bracket support, cut it a lot larger than what you probly need but it should help you out hopefully

thats sort of the reason I am doing this. you guys are watching this as are 3-400 others. I do not know those people and any one of them could take a liking to the car :)

as I said I will put up text updates but thats probably it at this point.

100% Understand where you are coming from, open forum and all.

ordered new door mouldings last night for it. (the ones that sit on top of the door and butt up to the glass.)

Part Numbers:

80821-04U03

80820-04U03

I had to order a set for a customer so I ordered two sets.

found a source for the destroyed oval rubber boots that are in the doors. N14 pulsar has the same boots and given the number of these things in wrecking yards they are fairly easy to get.

the part is no longer available new. (considering that nissan went to body plugs in 95 or so I know why.)

Well that's a bummer, I was enjoying this build up :( You're an anal bastard like myself :P

Completely understand where you're coming from though, my biggest worry with my S14 build up is security. I have an unopened garage, and I'm shit scared of someone finding out where I live and knocking off something.

Keep up the good work, mate. Can't wait to see the finished product.

Found a BETTER source for the body to door harness boots that the door harnesses have on them

the originals are:

24256-41L10. (35mmx50mm oval boot) - fits into the door

24256-41L01 (50mm round boot ) - fits into body cavity

374218_3026602267309_1330376598_33294150_1767116373_n.jpg

these are for a 2 door obviously (no idea on a 4 door)

405680_3026602547316_1330376598_33294151_1204152110_n.jpg

where to find BOTH of them cheaply:

late 90s J30 Nissan Maxima. they are on the door harness and usually in good nick. I have 4 sets as I want two spares. wrecker gave them to me at no charge :)

just bought this:

000.900_LCD4CHL_PI.jpg

that will fit nicely into the GTR cluster that I have ( the tach is coming out.)

this in conjunction with a garmin GVN53 and HKS CAMP2 should bring this car into the 21st century quite nicely

already spoke to a speedo cluster repairer as well about making me an overlay with a clear area for it so it all looks factory.

only oversight I had was the amount that a sheet of the material makes - 5 overlays. so once done I will have 4 of them up for grabs in the factory grey instrument color.

    • ok so if i wanted to go 18's i would go for 8's  in front 30+ or 32+ off set at front and the back 9 would be ok? what offset should i aim for.. then can i do some  hunting for wheel rim choices..    If i get this - will this fit all around: Size: 18 x 8.5 +37 - n what tyres size tyre should i get for front n back?
    • Absolute f*cking nightmare. I had to take breaks constantly, and I was always pissed off when I got home. The line split in Italy on day 2 (we drove from the Netherlands), lol. Driving any narrow European town was... well, sh*t.   Appreciate it man. Here, I'll just drop a favourite from the load I took on Saturday.   I'll update here when things happen with the car, the thing is, with stock power and almost everything chassis-wise taken care of, there really are no problems. 268,000kms now and counting.
    • Ah! I actually managed to snag a lightly used set.... that aren't so suitable for me right now. They don't work on a GTT without some cutting or creative heat moulding. I thought about reselling them myself cause I didn't want to murder them, but it looks like I'm probably going to attempt to murder them/melt them because I may as well. @GTSBoy @PranK can somebody close this thread?
    • Hey mate,  I have a set, one is slightly damaged but wont be noticable once installed.  Shoot me a message if your still after them
    • I couldn't wait But, the black constant tension hose clamps were too thick and there wasn't enough clearance at the T/B and I couldn't get it to seat properly, so I had use a silver one there I also added some 3" silicone over the alloy bit that goes through to hole on the radiator support as it looked like it was sitting on the edge of the hole in the radiator support, I never noticed a rattle or anything, but there was a witness mark It is basicly done, and I can live with the silver hose clamp at the T/B, I will get a black clamp for the head vent though where it is attached to the bulkhead fitting  It never stops...LOL, only issue now with the shock tower brace is it slightly touches the under bonnet liner now, if I leave it it will either wear some paint off the brace where it touches, or damage the liner, so I removed the liner to see what I have to work with, with the liner removed I have about 20mm of clearance, but sadly the middle part of the underside of the bonnet is only dusted with paint and looks crap, so I cannot have that, but.... as I have a roll of Carbuilders premium under bonnet insulation in the garage laying around that is only 5.5mm thick (we were going to use it on the boys Patrol, but he crashed the front of it a few months and it was written off, hence why he now drives my old Honda Accord Euro), I'll use the OEM liner as a template and get the Carbuilders stuff fitted up to cover that dusted paint up
