Guys, just got my car back from the repairer and they've replaced my front bar with the older 2001 style one

I've come across a later model front bar off a 2006 Stagea (pictured below).

I'd like to know if it would be compatible with my 2002 Stagea without having to change anything around?

yup, easily!!

youll need new headlights and new bonnet also. iamhe77 will come on and tell you exactly what you need, being he has done it before!

its not a cheap conversion, but its possible.

what bar did you have on your car before the accident? there is no older style, there is the series 1 and series 2 (in the above pic)

ARX and AXIS have differernt bars, there was also an 'aero' kit shown in mine and your avatars. it was a factory option, not fitted to all M35

EDIT: and youll need a new front grill too.

I had the Autech Aero Selection bar likes yours (and mine in my avatar) but they replaced it with the standard front bar.

Shit, so i have to get the new headlights, grille and bonnet? Farkkk

It's simply not just a case of the new front bar fitting with the existing headlights and bonnet, is it?

Go back to your insurance company and demand that they repair the car to the SAME standard it was when it was insured by them. They can not replace the part at their discretion.

Hey Andy, how are you mate.

I actually told the workshop that the front bar was incorrect, but they stood their ground and claimed they had troubles sourcing the Autech front bar and claimed it was "not being produced" anymore.

Should i ring my insurer and tell them the front bumper bar was incorrect and demand for a replacement Autech one anyway?

Damn, here's one on Yahoo

So tempted to just buy it and get it EMS'd.

Estimate is $655 delivered to my door.

+1 on the insurance company, they must repair to original standard, not just whatever is "easiest" for them...

Jeez, at that price I need to get one of these, get rid of the "smiley face" :P .

Yup, go back to your insurance company and talk to them.

Being difficult to source is not and excuse for not repairing it correctly.

The issue may be that it is not available new from Nissan.

In the past I have sourced "hard to find" items for cars that I've had painted, given the reciepts to the repairer and have been reimbursed. As long as you have a guarantee from the repairer, it should work out fine.

I have an excellent relationship with my repairer, I'm happy to do the running around if it will save him time, and he gives me a better deal.

thats piss poor effort from them. who are they??

also, its not an autech body kit. but i bet you have an autech badge on the back of your car :P

its a factory 'aero selection' kit.

Yup, there's an Autech badge on the tailgate. How did you know? :P Is it common practice in Japan to put the Autech badges on or something?

because i have seen many of them mis-labelled as autech models. autech did the AXIS model of M35 and AFAIK didnt touch other models.

as said before, ours are a factory optioned 'aero selection', not a nismo kit as other people seem to call them.

IMO the aero is the pick of the kits. but im biased

My kenstyle disagrees - but I too am biased :)

The only problem I have with that bar, is how far forward it sits below the grille.

The std one drops away straight down, that one juts out like Michael Schumachers chin, it's like a shelf on the front!

If not for that it would probably be residing on my car already... Plenty of grille space for coolers everywhere.

good point......just wish I could find an after market bar for an AR-X.....I may have to settle for a lower air bar like the one below.....If I can ever find it for sale somewhere :D

Yeah, done it and it is as Iain said (but you know this already don't you as you would have read your PM's Dimi?)

Unfortunately I still cannot find the pics of my car with the NM lights and the PM front bar....

Mate, that is a PM35 Axis S front bar (same as I have on mine - only mine is without all the ghey ricer crap).

Why not just put an Axis front bar on and cut out all that chrome in the front then mesh the big gaping holes that are left?

    • You Gregged a whole racetrack!?
    • Look for broken wire or bad connector at the motor. Might not be it, but is worth starting there, as it is easy.
    • Hi everyone, I’m having an issue with my R32 GT-R. Sometimes, when the car goes over a bump or experiences some vibration, the 4WD warning light comes on the dashboard. When I check the code from the control unit in the trunk, it shows Code 19 – ETS Motor. However, everything seems to be working fine — if I turn off the engine and restart the car, the light goes away and everything functions normally. Has anyone experienced this before? Where should I start troubleshooting this issue? Thanks in advance!
    • I'm back from the dyno - again! I went looking for someone who knew LS's and had a roller dyno, to see how it shaped up compared to everything else and confirm the powerband really is peaking where Mr Mamo says it should. TLDR: The dyno result I got this time definitely had the shape of how it feels on the road and finally 'makes sense'. Also we had a bit more time to play with timing on the dyno, it turns out the common practice in LS is to lower the timing around peak torque and restore it to max after. So given a car was on the dyno and mostly dialled in already, it was time for tweaking. Luis at APS is definitely knowledgable when it came to this and had overlays ready to go and was happy to share. If you map out your cylinder airmass you start seeing graphs that look a LOT like the engine's torque curve. The good thing also is if you map out your timing curve when you're avoiding knock... this curve very much looks like the inverse of the airmass curve. The result? Well it's another 10.7kw/14hp kw from where I drove it in at. Pretty much everywhere, too. As to how much this car actually makes in Hub Dyno numbers, American Dyno numbers, or Mainline dyno numbers, I say I don't know and it's gone up ~25kw since I started tinkering lol. It IS interesting how the shorter ratio gears I have aren't scaled right on this dyno - 6840RPM is 199KMH, not 175KMH. I have also seen other printouts here with cars with less mods at much higher "kmh" for their RPM due Commodores having 3.45's or longer (!) rear diff ratios maxing out 4th gear which is the 1:1 gear on the T56. Does this matter? No, not really. The real answer is go to the strip and see what it traps, but: I guess I should have gone last Sunday...
