F1 goodness is FTW!!!!!

Chase - Quality shouldn't be affected at all by going from full res to low res (web size). As long as you re-sharpen everytime you resize you'll be fine and it will be of even better quality than full res because it will appear sharper.

23MB files sound like you've got around 15MP. So when you resize down to web size, re-sharpen it (not the full amount you use for full res, half it e.g. 40% for full res, use 20% for web size). If the quality is still compressed and artifacting, then your not resizing to the proper size and your image hoster is compressing it down for you.

Sweet pics! As always black is hard to shoot with especially on a sunny day with lots of reflections. I think you did pretty well :action-smiley-069:

thanks mate :D

camera is 18mp (canon 7d)

is that why on the internet the pics are looking reduced in quality? i had to print 8x12's of most of the photos from the car shoot and they printed awesome. il give your advice a go..cheers

How did you get that effect? I've tried it a few times, but never that good.

Serg, great pics mate! What time did you get there? From what I heard on the news, I'm pretty glad I didnt go. 2 hour traffic jams and 35deg heat wouldnt have helped my hangover at all. Haha

Got there prety early, arround 8:30 so didnt have an issue. I had full trackside media access for the day which helped with the photos :whistling:

Jay - Your only like 40 days in!!! I'm sitting around 335 days! Looking forward to the end! If i was a pro tog, then 365 would be a breeze and have lots of awesome things to shoot!

nah i mean i think im over photography altogether. keep getting reminded by the missus how much money i wasted on it and how little i earned for our family for it so time to hang up the camera and work properly like everyone else.

Serg, how'd you hook up a media pass? I'm assuming it ties in with redbull since 99% of your shots are red bull centric.

Jay, don't say that! :whistling: growing up is for old people and boring f**ks.! You have a mad eye for a shot, you probably have the best eye for composition in here. You can make something spectacular from nothing. from a roof or a wall or a sign. that's talent baby!

I'ma fly to SA and slap your missus silly. Although if you did spend heaps (which im sure you did as we all have) and made little income i can see where she's coming from. Maybe you shoulda busted out the, you've spent a lot of money on clothes and inscent candles with no income from it! :whistling:

Keep at it man, no point hanging the camera up if you still got it. You'll look back on them when your older and remember the good times!

Matt - Lolz0rz at yin and yang.

Dont give up dude!!!

Offcourse family is more important and do what ever it takes to look after them, but your passionate about photography. Keep it as a hobby atleast!!

Had to sort out backing from an editor and all sorts and apply to the media manager of the event.

Shots are all Red Bull as it was all about the Red Bull car being in Perth. There was heaps of other racing, just havent gone through those photos yet

Sorry guys, early morning Emo moment, lol. Got to town and started shooting as per usual, made me realize that it's something that's too much a part of me to just give up. Took a few dark pics and then got busy with work. Started noticing more things to snap and everything just kinda clicked (pardon the pun) lol. I wouldn't know what to do with myself if I didn't have a camera close by. I just need to eat more happy meals I think

Well i can make a comment about what to shove into your missus's mouth, but that wouldn't be very nice. And i guess, im in a extremely humourous mood, so i will just laugh about it to myself

If i got told to just drop my camera and never touch it, i think it would be in my head still "oh that would be a rad shot", wish i had my camera, etc etc.. When your a photographer/serious about it, everything you vision is to do with photography. You can't just tap that out!

With the "spending heaps" she was more talking about the money spent going to the drifts to take photos that would end up published on local papers that I never got paid for. All money spent on gear was classed as an investment, it's the return wasn't there.

As for the candle... lol, I'll grab a razor and have a bath instead

    • That is way more science than even I would use. I just eyeball it, not even accounting for the non-verticality of the tape measure when held on the lip and the centre at the same time. +/- 2mm is good enough for the girls I go out with.
    • So, before putting them in I need to understand the stock ride height. This is how I measured it: First, check the diameter of the wheel's centre cap, it was 52mm. Then put a piece of masking tape approximately across the centre and measure 27mm (half) from at least 3 sides to get a reasonable idea of the centre of the wheel cap. Mark that with a horizontal line as one measuring point. Then, directly above the wheel on the guard, put another piece of masking tape in approximately the centre. Use a string line to find out the point on the guard above the centre of the wheel cap and mark that. Then it is simple, just a tape measure to check the distance from centre of the wheel to the centre of the guard. Final results where  LF: 381mm RF: 379mm LR: 401mm RR: 400mm Pretty even considering they are 120,000klm old factory springs, lets call that 380 front and 400 rear.
    • So....knowing that I have a problem with power steering temps on track and another Wakefield day booked in next Friday, I've done the obvious thing They are very reasonably priced at $1650, considering they are a big monotube shock, double height adjustable (don't have to change pre-load to change ride height), one way adjustable damping and standard sized and customisable springs if you want something other than what comes with them. They come with 9kg/mm front and 4.5kg/mm front and I went with that as a starting point because I'll add adjustable sway bars too https://justjap.com/products/bc-racing-coilover-kit-ds-ds-infiniti-q50-v37-14-current#description Unfortunately they didn't come with rear strut tops so I've re-used the factory ones which was a bit of a pain. Also, the adjuster for the rear shock will be an absolute nightmare to get at, and while there are extensions in the kit I can't see any way you can actually attach or use them
    • I also had 2 bulbs blow at once, years ago in the stagea. made for a fun drive home. The issue was the voltage regulator had failed in the alternator and it was giving 15+ volts. Really, I was lucky all that was fried were the headlight bulbs. So, I'd suggest you check the voltage across your battery terminals with the car running and warmed up. Yes, you will need a multimeter to do so, sorry.
    • Good work to think to check that, and thanks for coming back to post up the outcome.
