yeah james....boost comes on quicker and engine seems to rev a lot freeer

getting some popping in the upper rev range now, i think it's over-fueling (I hope, coz i don't really know what pinging sounds like), so the SAFC prolly needs a re-tune

I am hoping to get a cooler in the next few weeks (sshhh...don't tell the missus), so might hold of on the re-tune till then to save having to do it twice

Wouldn't mind getting someone with an experienced ear to come for a ride in the meantime, just to reassure me that there is no detonation though

mmm i was under the impression that when ur engine started pinging the check engine light came on, or mabey that only happens with a pfc,

I have NFI

the same thing (popping noises in the upper rev range) happened when I changed from a pod filter to a Blitz panel in the factory box....went back to the pod and it was gone....pretty sure it's the SAFC tune

i might go for a run up mt tamborine or mt nebo-glorious just feel the needs for the corners and its a lovely day. I dont have a mother so I just got another day off work :)

/me dances.

hmm car all clean and the oils are right, just need tog et this 100k service done next month, rego this month :)

perhaps get adrian or mj to have a fiddle with your safc settings, perhaps make sure its safe for the time being?

yeah...might call on hero boy to have a look next time he is about....don't have any dyno info with AFR's though so it would be stabbing in the dark a bit...

    • Oh, also, forgot to add these photos I believe.
    • Thought i'd update on this. I was able to get in contact with Craig Lieberman and later on Darryl Alison (owner of Kaizo Industries). Darryl was able to help me verify that my car was in fact one of theirs and is helping me find more info on mine !
    • There's restrictor pills in the stock boost control hoses. That's how they set the amount that was bled off and hence the "high" boost setting. The usual mod in the day was to remove it and send the "high" boost setting up to about 14 psi.
    • Thanks Duncan, that's the best info I've read. Furthermore after learning about the PCM programming side controlling the factory boost solenoid, the purpose of the solenoid is to "bleed" boost when pin 25 is earthed, thus allowing spring pressure in the wastegate actuator to overcome diaphragm boost pressure, thus closing or reducing the position of the wastegate flap creating more boost as the turbo is able to spin faster. It's pretty cool to see a designated Pill to do exactly this, would have liked to have seen it with a tiny filter over the end for those moments in vacuum.  The constant bleed pill has now been removed completely from the system and solenoid boost control has been restored once again.   Case closed 😂
    • The wideband reading is meaningless if it's not running. Why are you using shitty old sidefeeds on any engine, let alone a Neo? What manifold and fuel rail are you using to achieve that? Beyond that, can't help you with AEM stuff as I've never been their ECU/CAS combo.
