Whats It Worth R33 Gtr Vspec With 366Kw?

Recommended Posts

Hi Guys,

Knew here and have been offered a R33 GTR Vspec and wanted to know what is worth and with these sort of mods how far can it be pushed. I dont know the full spec's as yet as i have to speak to workshop who done the mods but this is what i know..........

- Forged pistons and rods

- Cams and other head work

- Bigger turbo's which are Garrett and come on boost at 3800rpm, dont know which Garrett's they are as yet

- Apexi fc

- Bigger injectors

- 20inch rims

The car has made 366kw on 20psi at all 4 tyres and this thing moves and sounds great and body is immaculate as had recent respray and interior is good just a couple things to tidy up.

Whats the going price for something with these sort of mods???

All advise is appreciated

Cheers

Michael

Thanks for the prompt reply

not sure on year model but will find out

What sort of Garrett turbo model would this be??? it starts boosting at 3800rpm and pulls hard all the way to 9500rpm easily

Has new brake rotors and pads all round

Stock suspension

Engine has about 30,000 kms but will confirm and everything used in engine and around was all knew and done about 3.5 yrs ago

Last time i went in it he dumped it in 1st gear and spun all 4 tyres pretty hard and when grabbed traction it took off like a rocket

thanks for the info and ill look into them tomorrow................

One thing i noticed since he had the car that it ran rich when it came on boost so if my brother and i go ahead with purchase we will get it retuned and serviced.

Being forged pistons and rods we can probably push more boost through it and make abit more hp???

IMO totally depends on who did the motor build, how long ago, cars overall condition etc.

I mean it might "look" fine, but then take it to a panel beater that knows skylines for some underside measurements and you might find it was in a hit @ one point etc.

Its hard to say with such little information.

Do you really need more power? 366 atwkw is a fair amount. As long as the AFR's aren't too rich it shouldn't be to much of a problem. Edited by Shazza24

Body is great and the recent respray was done by the owner who has been panel beater/spray painter for about 15yrs and his workmanship is great and he also planned on keeping it so why wouldnt he do a good job???

He took the engine and box out and done the engine bay as well and took about 3 months working every weekend on it, it was originally white and now purple which is abit lighter than factory midnight purple........

Reason why im interested in it as we know the full history and person who imported the car which is a mate of my brother. This bloke been importing and modding GTR's for years now and done all work through a well known workshop and has come at the right price, so if i didnt know anything about it and the right price i would not bother as it hasent crossed my mind to buy a GTR at this stage...............

I was actually looking for a cortina/ capri with a cleveland or windsor, mini tubbed and caged, but if something good comes up u buy it right?????

Thanks for the advice guys and keep it coming

Upto you dude - I've seen "mates" that I've known for 10yrs suddenly go rogue and screw over everyone inside of a 12 month period and disappear overseas. I even lived with the bloke for 4yrs... Sometimes you just never know mate :)

Always get a separate inspection is a very good rule for any vehicle be it a standard camry or high performance/highly modified.

Anyone that gets upset at such a suggestion is obviously upto something as anyone would appreciate it as dropping 25-30k on a highly modded import is as the best of times risky

You said you are going to talk to the technician who has done the mods.

Well, I'd talk to him and check on how the car car was performing before, then after, and how long ago the mods were done as Ash suggested.

Get permission from the owner to bypass confidentiality.

Get the thing up on a hoist > check everything including rust.

Then...

then...

Take the car to an independent technician of your own choice.

If the owner is hesitating, he knows something you don't.

For all we know, there could be rust (-er, car cancer). For instance, have you obtained the VIN# yet and checked it against "VINS FASTED" thread here on SAU?

A car from Nara probably won't have rust - a car from Sapporo probably will.

It's in the interests of each of the two, to want your business as the new prospective owner - and tell you the truth.

Old Chinese Saying:- You never know how much of a friend your sibling is, until you've been through a "Will" together.

We don't care how great your friends are.

You asked for objective advice > and you're getting it. We have nothing to gain by offering it.

The car? So far, so good. But your journey is not at an end!

It's abit hard to do a inspection myself as the car is in another state so will probably have to make a day trip to check it over with a hoist, but getting a independent inspection is always good and would be the first thing i do before i make a day trip. I'll keep you guyz in the loop on how i go as were off to see a cortina tomorrow and keen on getting something soon.................

Another question is i have in the back on my mind is R33 Vspec GTR's hard to sell as eventually it will be sold, to move onto other projects and thought there hard to sell due to price or people not wanting them much??? any expierence please chime in..........

God_speed member of SAU.NSW sold his R33 GT-R yesterday. It didn't even have to hit "carsales" advertising, as it sold through word-of-mouth right here on SAU f/s section.

I helped him deliver it, because it wasn't insured (by the new owner) till to-day > I remarked, "That new owner now has a car that won't depreciate very much at all in the forseeable future".

Another SAUer bidded for this car too.

2-3 years ago, R33 GT-Rs dropped in value whilst there were also many GTS-ts on the road. Now there are less good ones of both > increase in demand for good specimens.

Thanks for the feedback and another question

It was originally white and now been resprayed in purple which is abit lighter than midnight purple and engine bay, door jams have been painted and looks great. would this affect resale as its not original midnight purple colour???

I don't think it will - and I don't think it should.

So long as the paint is not just covering up rust, the new colour is simply a personal and subjective thing.

Traditionalists may prefer the colour to be an original Nissan colour. Hard core traditionalists would never repaint a car unless it was the original paint.

But then, white cars can get awfully dirty looking in the engine bay, which prompts the owner to want to go to the expense of changing the colour. There's no reason why it shouldn't be done. Besides, "white" brings lower prices in Japan. For many centuries, Asian countries and cultures used "white" as a funeral colour > there may be a carry over from then.

Has the car been painted throughout the shell?

    • Does this count as a time trial as well? I got all gold in the master super licence (1 lap time trial) and received a McLaren MP4/4 for my trouble.  If anyone else has done this, did you ride the wall right around the first long right hander at Lake Louise snow track to get gold? I couldn't do it any other way... best I could do without riding the was was within 2 tenths of the gold time.
    • I definitely get the low power, sporty car to drive to smash gears but not be doing eleventy million miles an hour! It makes all the normal drives fun!   Rev match tune sounds like the funs! I didn't know the NC had a DBW throttle!   As for me, still have the Skyline, it still has the Barra in it. It's been pushed to the side of the workshop at the moment. Pretty much waiting on me finishing the wiring, and dropping new fuel lines in. Got myself an ACDC Tig end of last year so been teaching myself TIG welding to build a few things for the Skyline. The missus wrote off her GTB liberty at the end of last year, and got it back on salvage rights stupid cheap. It's also still registered, so will mean easier for me to take to the track already done most of the panel damage, just playing "clear the workshop" to make space to pull the motor and box out, fix some oil leaks, replace the clutch, and replace a few minor broken things.  Also got a Lathe at the start of the year, which is adding to the annoyance of no space, which is another reason I'm trying to build things to get more space, to get the Lathe back in a final home for it. It's a BIG lathe, can turn a 355mm diameter, and 1metre between centres... Got it at a steal! So between it and the TIG and old MIG welder, I'll be fabbing some fun little shit up But we've had a lot of shit stuff happening at home, so it's slow going getting things done. But one step at a time!
    • I love Catalunya.  Got a 1:54.632. The AMG is a hoot.
    • I hadn't got that far, my main worry was the connection to the actual calipers themselves. I'm just using new (ish) stock brake lines in the stock setup. I've just had a stud welded to the knuckle that is a little lower than the original stud (so my knuckles have two studs each side) to not have it be stretched so far in previous BBK setups, so the "block" (in the second picture) mounts a little lower for me and I hope I don't need to change anything. I may have even changed the connection to the calipers in the past and have since forgotten I did that. I may not have. Guess how I'm gonna find out. Source: hopium
    • It's more so I'm using the 1x piece line from HEL that goes from the body to the caliper. There's no middle block/mount like the HFM ones or the GKtech ones. There are certain angles/suspension compression where the line actually slightly contacts the ARB. Below of how mine sit (not my photo): How I want it:
