Wow..thats actually alot more affordable than i had imagined..

Well worth considering

What would a quick rebuild on a 25 block set you back, im thinking 1500-2000 with rebore, quality bolts, bearings and pistons.

Only thing Im worried about is your turbo not liking the extra capacity cause then your going to be forking out for new turbo as well, then you would probably need new injectors .....................

And so on the snowball begins.

Maybe,

Does your turbo drop off now or would it handle a 8-8500rpm redline?

Cause i get the feeling that some more revs and some extra comp (say 9.5) would make it deadly fast and responsive. But im only guessing.

Are you talking about if he stayed RB25?

His turbo would not handle 8,500rpm redline on an RB30. I think joey would be happy if it handled 7000rpm well on the RB30. That was my point that 9.5 comp would be super nice on the RB30 but I think the RIPS standard refreshed engine is a great deal.

Yeah was talking about a built 25..

RIPS is a good deal but is it compatible with his current setup is the big Q. I mean its no good getting it to find out its not, then you have to spend as much again to set it up properly.

But a decent bottom end that can handle 8000rpm , decent pistons alone could provide some extra torque, It may not make much more power but it will make it quicker and stronger for longer..

Plus buying an engine form NZ means alot of hassles if it plays up, not like u can drive in and complain, and there is plenty of good engine builders nearby his area

Im not knocking the 25/30 at all just adding another point of view.

yeah i'm just trying to research it all atm... that turbo was still climbing when it was shut off at 7400 but not very steeply

i'm thinking that it's really not that much smaller than the 3076 .82, so it should manage a redline of 7000 or just shy of...

The HKS 2835 Pro S seems to have just as much top end as a 3071 0.82 on an RB25. And there are plenty of results similar to the 3076 0.82.

Even if it does nose over just before 7000rpm that would still be a very nice setup. The other thing I was thinking of is that the HKS 2835 Pro S came in a 0.87 exhaust housing although I am not sure if it is T3 as well. A 0.87 exhaust housing would be ideal imo

yeh... i'm thinking this should be a goer :)

worst case scenario will be a new rear i spose, but if it makes 6500, i'll just set the redline to 6,800 and be done with it ;)

Even if power drops off, as long its more power than the next gear up at that speed you are still better off revving it out to 7,000rpm or whatever the engine is safe to. Same as how a standard turbo power drops off over 5,500-6,000rpm but you are still better revving it out to rev limiter.

    • Haha, i kow right? Could have bought so many cars for the same amount of money (or less) but driving Unicorn gives you at least +1mln to style 😅. Like wise man said "life's to short to drink cheap wine and drive boring cars" 😉
    • Newbie here, proud owner of an Autech 260RS. I'm on the hunt for wiring diagrams specific to the 260RS, particularly S1. I've ran my eyes through R33, R34 Diagrams, there are some similarities, however continue to find incorrect wire colours and pins on connectors in the 33,34 diagrams.   I was hoping someone could point me in the right direction? I'd be happy to pay for the originals in Japanese. I can translate them, at least they would be accurate.   Any help please would be greatly appreciated, never heard an RB26DETT before let alone driven one, and I've got a spaghetti monster of goodness to sort out.   Cheers Benny
    • Hey all  im wondering if you can help me please I have put a rb20 box in my r34 gtt as my auto packed up and a friend had a spare box I know it’s not ideal but it will get me up and running for now. we have done the conversation and everything is working great but my Speedo we got a s13 speed sensor but my Speedo reads double now and I bought a speed converter but still not having any luck.  so I thought I’ll reach out and pick your brains  any help would be appreciated please as I wanna drive my car again
    • Drain it. I got official Matic D but you can get whatever is listed as Matic D compatible.
    • Thanks guys,  Yeah I should at least have them dynoed, at least then I know what I've got as a starting point.  The springs on these are hard as rocks. I vaguely remember Russman saying he was going to sell the shocks to me with the rocks fitted, as he was keeping the softer springs for his new setup.  I didn't click at the time but of course that was to let me know the shock/spring wouldn't be matched.  I also remember pricing up new springs around 2014-15, but, house, money etc. it never happened. So that was another reason to have them rebuilt. I have rebuilt the forks on many motorcycles so I think I could handle the seals on these easily enough, but getting the valving right would be a rabbit hole I cbf exploring.  Duncan, interesting to hear RP was tuning these back then. I might give them a call.  In the mean time I have been busy fitting sway bars. The Whiteline rear sway bar I purchased 15 years ago finally got fitted, along with the Whiteline front bar that showed up last week. Just waiting on new links for the front sway bar to finish that off.  And my spare set of advan AVS VS5's should be back from the powder coaters in a Pearl White finish sometime this week, with a set of Hankook RS4's lined up for fitting.  And then I just have all the suspension bushes to do. A comprehensive kit is on the way... Lots to do before the Ararat hill climb. Cheers guys 🍻
