hey guys,

need some help, few people here must of experienced this issue as well but lately my seat belts, first the passenger

belt was having issues retracting but now my driver side one takes a few shakes of the belt and then it retracts up.

Obviously its a slight safety concern with me and so I thought i'd better look into finding replacements or how other

people have fixed them.

Does anyone know if its possible to fix the belts ? or do I need to locate replacement units and if so, does anyone know

where you can get them from ?

I've never actually had to replace a belt in any of my cars, all the ones i've imported were done at the compliance shop

so this is new ground as such hehheh...

thanks for all help guys and girls!!

appreciate it.

oh I'm located in Brisbane too if that helps..

Thanks

Mario

Hi Mario

Nissan have written up service bulletins for fixing this problem. I posted all the bulletins on www.m35stagea.info forum.

You will need to register first but will find them under M35 Stagea Discussions/Nissan Service Bulletins.

They are for the Infiniti but essentially your car.

From memory it is a simple fix. I hope this helps.

Cheers, Leon.

woops I cant read, should of just searched for 'seatbelt' instead of reading everyone :P

ALL INFINITI VEHICLES; "D"RING RESIDUE CAN CAUSE SLOW SEAT BELT RETRACTION

booyah!!! Will be attempting a clean on the weekend I think, dunno what that fluroine resin tape is...

Just tried the 'clean D-Ring' procedure....lots of rubish came out, but still not much of a change in retraction.

But then again, it's prolly a design issue...I have the 'over-rider' arms, so that's 2 D-Rings per belt and alot of friction by design!

    • We used Knox Drive shafts years ago when we were doing gravel rally, good guy but I heard it had changed hands? He's got a lot of stuff and is miles cheaper than GJ and so on. He used to have a lathe setup with a MIG torch on the tool holder so he could get the uni welds just right, quite a clever guy. I just got a driveshaft done for my sequential installation and that was through Balancing Services Australia in Preston, they did the Gibson cars in the old days. New genuine CV's, billet yoke, new centre bearing and chome moly shaft was $2k.
    • Thanks for sharing that mate, I've got a couple of spares on the shelf but all the unis are tight....will give old mate a shout. BTW are you sure it wasn't just a $400 paint job? Any detail of what they replaced (cut/reweld?)
    • Yeah I saw that about the US Q50 recently, apparently it was shown to Inifiniti dealers (probably to help with their depression about the cars they can sell). Seemed like a really obvious step to me, the platforms are very similar in many ways. Even if there aren't many people who actually put the money up it should really help with image/reputation. What hasn't been clear anywhere if that is a V38 model of if they are just going to add the trans as an option in a new model year. What they did with the Z from 370z to "Z" is just weird so I'd be surprised if they released this as a V38. Great news for me to have an option; it is far from confirmed that I can get any decent track sessions through the auto so having a manual I can swap to is great.
    • I ordered it this morning, I'll disassemble it post pic's and info following delivery.
