just out of curiosity.....

i am looking at a cooler from a local company who would move the throttle body on my plenum from the centre to the end, what sort of effect owuld this have on performance, if any at all. its basically now like a gtr plenum cept for the welding etc.... i assume that any power lost form this would be made up due to less pipes and bends ???

The problem with that is that will not know how even the distribution will be of the plenum once you done this. They were designed for the inlet to be centralised....so moving it to the front could have detrimental effects to your engine such as running lean in certain cylinders.

Scott

the intercooler guy,

when exactly in may are you opening up in melbourne? Also where will the shop/showroom be? Man these kits look unreal have you got any inlet/outlet temps and pressure drop for both the ICG intercooler and the force one. Also you stated that your IC is 800*300*76 is this just the core? if so how long endtank to endtank. What is the core size of the force one? Thinkin i'll go with the force one as i'd prefer the lighter tube and fin design.

cheers,

Rom.

Hi pinoi_boi_r33

1. The official opening date of the Melbourne shop is still up in the air, however, we will keep you all up to date when the date draws near.

2. We have spent many an hour on R&D, subequently, we have recorded temp drops of close to 100c^. As for pressure drop, the region is close to 0.18 @16psi

3. The ICG cores measure 600x300x76 size. Similarly, the Force core also measures 600x300x76. And as you have stated, Force use a tube and fin design which is fantastic. Accordingly, at the end of the day it's up to the consumer.

Look out for a full page Ad in the May issue of FastFours when we officially launch the brand 'ICG'.

    • I also used Knox driveshafts when I the slip yoke T56 to the 3bolted TR6060 type. I believe I was one of his first jobs as it literally changed hands when I was there, started by the old owner and finished by the new. Everyone seemed pretty great about it. So wasn't shy/seemed pretty knowledgeable when dealing with weird custom people like me.
    • Just a reminder orange park was cool back in the day   and drifting the main circuit was even cooler   f**k I miss that car
    • We used Knox Drive shafts years ago when we were doing gravel rally, good guy but I heard it had changed hands? He's got a lot of stuff and is miles cheaper than GJ and so on. He used to have a lathe setup with a MIG torch on the tool holder so he could get the uni welds just right, quite a clever guy. I just got a driveshaft done for my sequential installation and that was through Balancing Services Australia in Preston, they did the Gibson cars in the old days. New genuine CV's, billet yoke, new centre bearing and chome moly shaft was $2k.
    • Thanks for sharing that mate, I've got a couple of spares on the shelf but all the unis are tight....will give old mate a shout. BTW are you sure it wasn't just a $400 paint job? Any detail of what they replaced (cut/reweld?)
    • Yeah I saw that about the US Q50 recently, apparently it was shown to Inifiniti dealers (probably to help with their depression about the cars they can sell). Seemed like a really obvious step to me, the platforms are very similar in many ways. Even if there aren't many people who actually put the money up it should really help with image/reputation. What hasn't been clear anywhere if that is a V38 model of if they are just going to add the trans as an option in a new model year. What they did with the Z from 370z to "Z" is just weird so I'd be surprised if they released this as a V38. Great news for me to have an option; it is far from confirmed that I can get any decent track sessions through the auto so having a manual I can swap to is great.
