Guys,

In need some advice on a replacement clutch for my R32 GTS-4 1992.

I have read that Jim Berry is the way to go, but at this point in time, i only have $500 to spare to buy one.

All installation will be completed over 2 weekends, where i will have the flywheel machined during the week.

The current power is at 220kw, and the clutch that has just shat itself is the Exedy heavy duty organic - Not too sure how long it was installed for ( i have owned the car for 2 yrs)

My questions are,

Is my car a push or pull type clutch?

Will a stronger clutch make the gearbox the "sacrificial" part in the drive train?

Is it worth the extra money to go to a button clutch?

Any help is greatly appriciated.

Adam

The R32 GTS-4 gearbox is very similar in strength to the GTR unit, therefore with the torque of an RB20 engine the box holding up isn't really an issue. If driveability is of great concern I would suggest either sticking with an Exedy Heavy Duty unit or upgrade to an Exedy Sports Organic.

EXEDY - NSK-7056HHHDB :D

Bit hard getting used to initially but feels great once worn in. I used it on the RB30/25DET in the R32 (and at one stage DETT until i converted back to a single). Ran 300rwkw for over 8000kms and did not slip once... until the oil pump let go...

The Exedy HD (NSK-7056HD) will hold the power. The only thing it won't do well is hard drag-style launches

Shouldn't cost you any more than $450 to buy. Be careful though, some companies will try to sell you the 6797 Patrol kit instead. The Patrol kit will still do the job ok but they are much cheaper than the 7056 kit. The clutch plates are different (read weaker) in the patrol kit
