omfg read my previous post. i never said anything about an rb30 is better or flows better than a 25!!!!!!!!!!!!

He means the twin cam head obviously is a shitload better than a RB30 head.

Therefore as I said, if you were going to all the effort of putting a RB30 into a Skyline you would build a RB30/25 or a RB30/26. Look, we have a whole forum section dedicated to it:

http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/forum/184-rb30-conversions/

What are your reasons for wanting a RB30 SOHC in there when it is a worse engine than a RB25 or a RB26 and a hell of a lot worse than a RB30/25 or a RB30/26?

why stop at a RB30E?

Make it a carby one and get some serious.... anti... something...

Yes a RB30E can go in a R32\33\34, and it'll go right on the skyline gearbox (i think) but you'll need the appropriate ECU, loom, all that.

It's a lot of hard work for no gain.

So unless you've got a Skyline with no engine and a VL commodore with a smashed up rear end, no money but plenty of tools, patience and time; I can't really see the point.

wtf is with so much hating. you blokes go crazy over a twin cam rb30. but as soon as a single cam is mentioned your the devil for saying anything about it LOL ffs.

im doing it cause it will be cheap and easy cause im on my p's so i need to make my 32 n/a and i can get an rb30 for nothing as opposed to spending thousand on a rb25. then when i get my full licence ill put a 25 head on and a big setup and put a big f**k off setup on it.

This is you car right?

My The land of goat sphincter rings friend was telling me of a guy who had a Ferrari and wanted to convert it to LPG. He went around to the local workshops and no one wanted/could do it. So he consulted Ferrari, who were so shocked to learn that someone wanted to convert one of the most iconic sports cars ever to LPG,so they sent someone to buy the car back off him. Not sure how true it is, but there is a good message.

Ok let's get something straight here:

1) You NEVER said you were on your P's and therefore could not drive a turbo car. We were all assuming you are talking about a turbo engine given that it is in the "Forced Induction" area.

So in essence you are talking about putting a NA RB30 into it? Well that is even more of a joke as to why you would bother.

2) You said you "need to make your 32 n/a", does that mean it is a GTST at the moment with a RB20DET in it?

i had a 12 second vl before i got the r32 i currently have. the whole setup owed me no more than 2 grand and it made over 200rwkw with a standard computer and an untouched non turbo rb30. i have a mate making 380hp with an also completely stock non turbo rb30 bar a head gasket and cam.

Now back to this comment. I skimmed over it and once again assumed we were talking about a turbo RB30 so didn't think much of it. So you are saying with a non turbo RB30 VL and spending $2000 without touching the ECU you made 200rwkw and ran a 12 second pass?? Please explain because that is absolute bullshit.

Now to your mates non turbo RB30. So 380 flywheel horsepower? So say 200-230rwkw with just a head gasket and a cam? Seriously absolute bullshit.

Prove me wrong with a dyno sheet.

Here are the two highest dyno results for a N/A RB30 from the r31 forum.

GTS_143 (NSW)177rwkwRB30DE

(R33 VCT Head) (ported) with stage 2 cams, 12:1 comp, Monster

Extractors, lightened & balanced bottom end, twin 64mm XF TB's, Full

3" Exhaust, Link ECU, CAI & Pod, Twin Thermos.

#2DMN NA (NSW)154.6rwkwRB30DE,

RB26 head, Between 12:1 and 12.5:1 comp, Balanced rods, RB25DE pistons,

RB20DET 270cc injectors, Crank grub screwed, oil restrictors, N1 GT-R

rings, Adaptronic ECU, Hurricane Equal Length extractors, 2.5" mandrel

bent exhaust, 3" stainless cat, hot dog, mega flow rear muffler,

Splitfire Coilpacks, Adjustable cam gears

Both with twin cam heads and much dollars spent.

The claim of 200rwkw with no more than $2000 is a bit rich.

my vl was turbo buddy

Many people underestimate the RB30ET

I think it would be a unique conversion because many people would not see the point. If you have your mind set on it, then go for it. It can be done easily. But be aware that you WILL devalue the car by doing it and you may get a bit of flack from people who don't understand the reason behind it.

The crux of the issue is basically this.

1. You are on Ps

2. You were dumb and purchased an illegal turbo

3.a. you have already been defected

3.b. you are worried about being defects

4. You think RB30E will fix all the above?

Sadly kid - It's illegal and not registrable.

You cannot go BACKWARDS to the chassis. It breaks all the ADR's.

for f**ks sake my vl was turbo!!!!!!!!!!!! 200rwkw in any non turbo 6 cylinder is impossible.

yeah i started this thread wanting to know if its even been done with a turbo application, i never started the thread to talk about my plan of doing it!!

and yes my skyline has an rb20det

THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

this thread has gone WAY off topic i never ever intended on having any sort of conversation about actually doing it in my car. i got flamed for asking a simple question for god knows why!?

sorry but where is it said i have been defected???

they dont make power? WHAT!!??

im not trying to say they are better than a 25, but they make power just as easy, and have an extra 500cc! and in my opinion are alot more simple and easy to work on. yeah as a vl owner i guess im just more biased to the rb30.

im thinking of doing it cause ive never seen it done and it would be something totally different. obviously the long term plan would be a single cam head for when i want to make some really serious power

are you special? my mates vl is turbo aswell wtf is wrong with you bro deadset. the people on this forum are nuts

what i meant by my mates motor is non turbo is.. its a factory non turbo motor, with a turbo setup on it. im terribly sorry for wording that very wrong!

i was trying to get the point across at the strength of an internally standard rb30

    • I don't know for sure, but I'd expect them all to be interchangeable given the diff end and hub end don't move/change between any C34 series. Often Nissan will change part numbers and the aftermarket follows those year ranges; but the original part number change doesn't mean other parts won't fit. The change could be a change in material, internal parts or even just supplier. For example, all the RB gearbox to engine bolts are no longer available and there is a new part number instead. The only change is they went from cadmium plated bolts to zinc plated due to the issues manufacturing with Cadmium. They look different but work the same.
    • One year is a bit concerning. Did you try contacting GSP? It says 5 year warranty on the box if I remember correctly. I'm also running their driveshafts on my S2 Stagea.   You could check the part numbers on Amayama for your year. Here's the link for my 1998 which gives the 39100-23U60 part number. Well, that and 39100-23U70. https://www.amayama.com/en/genuine-catalogs/epc/nissan-japan/stagea/wgnc34/6649-rb25det/trans/391 What does it say for yours?
    • I ordered a GSP Front R/H Axle from here - https://justjap.com/products/gsp-premium-front-driveshaft-r-h-nissan-r32-r33-r34-skyline-gtr-stagea-4wd#description It lasted around a year before one of the boots blew out. I'm lowered, but I have GKTech roll center adjusters. One year seems a little premature. I think I'm going to spend the extra money on an OEM cv axle this time. This website - https://tfaspeed.com/collections/nissan-stagea-wgnc34-x-four-parts/products/nissan-stagea-awc34-260rs-rb26-right-front-axle-drive-assembly Makes it sound like the readily available OEM CV axle will only fit 11.1999 Stagea and up (mine is a 2.1997 S1). The JustJap listing didn't mention any years or anything for the GSP axle. Amayama shows '11.1999' and up as well for that part number. As well as 'plastic boot type'. See attached picture. So I guess my question is, does that axle (39100-23U60) really only fit S2 Stagea? It's the front driver side. If it does, I'd love to buy that instead of rolling the dice on another GSP. I've found that OEM one cheaper here: https://www.partsfornissans.com/oem-parts/nismo-jdm-r32-r33-r34-skyline-gtr-r32-gts4-right-front-axle-3910023u60 and here https://www.nissanparts.cc/oem-parts/nismo-shaft-ft-drive-3910023u60 Just a little confused because the JapSpeed listing for the GSP front driver axle doesn't mention any specific years or anything and it fit my S1 Stagea fine. So will 39100-23U60 fit my S1 Stagea even though technically it says '11.1999' and up? What would have changed? Thanks.
    • Thanks for the info. The only "Issue" I've had with the shifter is I always found the throw between 4th and 6th gear too close. I'm always worried to shift into 4th accidently and sending my motor to the moon. Adam LZ recently came out with a video and stated Serialnine revised their shifters to correct this and will change all the revised parts for 150$. Strangely enough, I contacted Serialnine right after and they denied it and said it's bullshit. I found that strange as he's a distributer. I'll keep this forum post updated on that saga.
    • Yep that is correct. It allows you to adjust the short throw range from what I can tell
