Yeah not my finest hour, but Luke has been brilliant about it and he knows I'm gonna be forking out the coin to sort it all out. We're in "if you don't laugh you'll cry" mode at the moment.

I came around the sweeper in the wet, squeezed back on the throttle and it just snapped on me, someone later suggested there may have been oil there where the drifters park to start their runs, so I'm using that as my excuse! Anyhoo, it snapped hard left, and once it hit the wet grass I was just a passenger until I tagged the wall.

And technically neither of us registered a time, so the original challenge still stands :P

I thought someone may have been tracking their wheely bin and got loose infront u so u had to evasive action

A better option would be genuine high level scrutineering for the cars

I had a so called drift car on the dyno last year - and when I turned the fan on the bonnet (cheap cracked fibreglass imitation carbon thing) actually blew off across the room. It was taped together and then went out and raced at the track like that 2 days later.

I am old enough to remember when drift cars had front and rear bars on them and cable ties were for tying cables not holding the car together :)

Doesnt one of the multitude of SA drift series run out at Tailem Bend now?

Anyway that sucks Heslo, have always really liked your car

i agree scrutineering on engines needs to be tighter,

and stadium drift does happen at tailem bend, which is hardly what id call a good track.

dont put every diftt car in the same basket.

Dont get me wrong there are or have been some good drift cars that I have worked with or enjoyed over the years and there are obviously many more I would not know about. CTS, Pickerings, Cootes lad, Boliger and one or two others are notable properly engineered cars or are close to it.

Too many absolute boxes of turd 'hangin sliggidy an sik skidz n shit' going on though in 2011. I have refused to dyno these kinds of cars on safety grounds before and continue to do so. Bald tyres, breather hoses vented onto exhaust manifolds, oil pouring out of sumps etc. and so on. I will not damage my $170,000 dyno on a sloppily and lazily put together heap of junk worth $5

Needs a good scrutineering clean out and drift could come good again

Regardless we may as well talk about Drift not much more information is forthcoming in this thread :domokun:

Dude,

That is a huge call. Are you saying that you would never help out mate or family member with your car if they were in deperate need?

These things are just material possessions mate, you cant take them with you when you go 6 foot under :ermm:

I have wanted a 32 GTR since i was 7 years old and now that i have one, i let others experience what a fine piece of machinery and history it is so they too can enjoy it!!

Other people dont have to feel the same way you do about the car, thats thier decision. Its not about respecting the car, its about respecting the owner...

Any hoo, that sucks Luke!! New N1 your way with Chef driving in a skirt... photos on SAUSA please :D

Cheers,

Huh, I don't see this has anything to do with Kristian driving Luke's car..........how was Kristian in any desperate need......sorry but invalid arguement bud.

Feel miserable for Luke & Kristian but I'm with Tangles on this one............haven't we learned from the Krishy vs Abe deal??

Hope the damage isn't too bad fellas

I appreciate that you guys want to hypothesize on whether or not you should lend cars to mates, Luke knows me well enough to know that I will pay for the repairs, I doubt he wouldn't have let me out there in the first place if he didn't think that was the case.

Early reports suggest I'm up for a fair bit of money in parts, so my JZX110 is now for sale to help cover it - let me know if any of you feel like defecting to a Toyota...

I am sorry Pete...but how was it Krishy vs Abe? It should be the "Krishy and Abe", as we were not versing each other.

dont tempt me!! might be a cube for mum, and a 110 for me :P

no way Id say I told you so, but fact is you just cant trust anyone else with your possessions......

no offence meant to Chef or Heslo.

just the way I see life. Your possession = your responsibility, + fact others wont feel for it the same way you do.

Pete,

Quite clearly that says to me that Tangles wouldn't give his car out to anyone at all. regardless of the circumstance. Not relating it to this afternoons events, just in general!!

Obviously, as he says in the previous post, family and and mates in desperation are a different circumstance and this is what i was trying to clear up.

Good luck with the repair fellas.

Cheers

Matty

This is a sign of how good this community is, mates helping mates and being true to their word. Good work

Its only a car and it will fix easy and be better than ever

Spot On Martin!!!

the point i was trying to make earlier.

Sorry bout the confusion fellas!

Cheers

No hypothesy here Kristian, my stance is very clear.......NEVER EVER lend cars to mates (no matter how well you know them).

I appreciate that you're a good guy Kristian, hence having to sell a car to pay for Luke's, it's just a real shame that it's come to this. :(

This is a forum after all which will invite comments of every description, but like I said earlier, I feel miserable for both of you..........nothing personal there champ :/

Guys guys guys, come on now and show a bit of respect please. It's a shit situation, it happened and what happens is between Kristian and I, no one else....

That being said, Kristian is a great bloke, true to his word and I have not one hard feeling against him; it was an accident, he didn't mean for this to happen, it could have just as easily been me and more importantly, HE IS OK! That is my number one concern, not the car, him

Also, cheers to everyone out there today helping, to all those sending messages and to Matty T for the tow and as Martin said, it's only a car, it can be fixed and it's true, this is an example of how great the community can be; not all this shit that goes on with Windies, etc.

Well said mate, Kristian's safety is more important than any damage to the car.

and at the end of the day Luke is a big boy and can make his own decisions in regards to his car and property and if / who he lets to drive it. Just because you have an opinion on how you manage your property it doesn't mean that it applies to everyone.

    • Dear folks My family members have 4 different cars : Triton 2015 and Corolla 2011 and Mazda3 2012 and Hyundai Elantra 2014 Looking to buy engine oil funnel spill free What I found are are below  https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B0BBTTJNKX?ref=ppx_pt2_mob_b_prod_image&th=1 https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/145553221359?srsltid=AfmBOoqYBU6Ptw0LU_bAp_k67U3qkF97HHvePkA7iHZw8vUmiwoIRaRr https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B09X23TCS5?th=1 Is there a funnel with attachment that fits most cars ? Don't mind to spend for a decent quality  Thx
    • Stock ECU (or more accurately stock tune) absolutely refuses to go over 10psi and behaves like you have seen. The Nistune is the same if it is the stock tune. If the Nistune chip has been tuned, the resulting tune could be literally anything for any combination of parts. The Nistune just makes the stock ECU Tunable.
    • So stock ECU does not like anything above 10 psi?  That Nistune one is just for "try" if it will be any different, I know it need to be tune for that. I know but YOU may know about these problem but i/we dont. They few little Skylines here let alone people who know anything about tham so that is why iam asking here
    • So now we have a radiator with no attachments whatsoever. It lifts up with a particularly tight spot between the drivers side air box mount and the lower radiator outlet, but if you've got this far you will sort that too. This is the lower mounts with the rad out so you can see where the rubber bushes go, it is a straight shot upwards Done! Assembly is the reverse of disassembly, with blood less likely to be shed.
    • Right, onto the second last trick. The Air Con condenser is mounted to the front of the radiator and stays in the car when the radiator is removed. There are 2x 10mm headed self tappers holding the top of the condenser to the radiator, remove those The bottom of the condenser is attached to the radiator with clips. You need to lift the condenser out of those clips and clear (up, then forward). f**ked if  could work out how to do that last bit with the front bumper on. I hope you can, and you share the trick.  Bumper removal probably deserves its own thread one day once I've recovered the will to live, but basically you need to remove the wheels, front inner guard liners (clips and 10mm headed bolts), the self tapper between the guard and the bumper at the rearmost point of the bumper (same as an R32 that bit), any remaining clips at the top/front of the grill, an absolute bastard design with a plate that holds the top of the bumper above the headlight each side (only 1 bolt which is tricky to get to, but the plate catches 2 places on the bumper and must be removed....carefully!) and push clips between the bumper and guard under the headlight. If you've done all that you will be faced with wiring for the fog lights on both sides and in ADM Q50 RS at least, 4 nasty tight plugs on the driver's side for the ADAS stuff. So, the clips at the bottom look like this on drivers side (looking from the front) And on the passenger side (also from the front), you can see this one is already out Clearance on both of these are super tight; the condenser needs to move up but the upper rad support mount prevents that, and the radiator can't move down far because it is (rubber) mounted. Once you achieve the impossible and drop the condenser off those mounts so it does not stop the rad moving, you are good to go
