Looking for R32

Hi everyone, I'm new around these parts. I'm looking for an R32 GTST. Quick question: Is it safe to buy an R32 which has done over a 100000ks? I've heard horror stories of turbo cars dying past that milage. Forgive my ignorance. Thanks!

thats pretty high milage for a 32 unless its like a 1990 or something.... u can generally pick up a genuine low kms 1992 R32 GTST for about 12 - 13k landed and complied with no mods and a sllightly moded one for about 14000... these are the prices i would go to... no more.

it all depends on the condition of the car etc and who u use to buy it... ie. a dealer or an importer.

do a search in these forums and do a little bit of research... theres countless posts/threads in here about it.

Looking at a 92 GTST with some mods done up to it. The high milage bothers me though.

You can see the average klms are 90,000klm which are NOT alot......why is 100,000klms a lot for a 10year old car in japan and not alot for an aussie car????These cars are all 92 models.klms are klms people.And these cars that were sold at JU are most likely for the domestic market...not for export.....or send it to aust and fiddle the odometer and ....there you go .,... a low klm import(cant send the link to the site as you need a password to get in...so i cut and pasted)

if its already in australia and has 100k on it then i would say its probaly ok... but most the ones on the IBC Japan Auctions and a few others are about 80k average.

ie. if ur buying from Japan then i wouldnt get anything above 90k

if ur in australia buying a car already in australia then it would be ok.

just hunt around.

u have to be a registered trader to see them tho... can pick an R32 up for about 300-400 in good condition with mods.

thats JU auction site...i have JU membership card...when i go to japan i can slide my membership card into the machine and bid.... dunno about those other companys....i cant say anything about this IBC (although i didnt recognise it as an auctionhouse thats why i asked)but other companys change the odometer,and sell there stock via there own online "auction" Ju,JAA,RAA and the much larger USS auction houses are the best way to go...if you can access them

think about it... how big is japan? they may not drive anywhere near as much or as far as we do so the milage is expected to be lower over time than a car from here

most of the cars u see on craigs site are from IBC Japan... u HAVE to be a registered car dealer to see them... not any joe bloggs can view or even get membership... theyre one of the biggest auction houses in japan.

Used vehicles are selling better in japan than in australia.The klm thing is how i said.....i have seen it with my own eyes many times dude....not trying to be a smarty...its just that people are under a major misconception about the auto trade in japan.I will be in japan as of october for quite some time as i will be there for the birth of my child next year....i will continue posting on this page and people are more than welcome to contact me if they will be in japan and i will escort them to auction house and they can see/buy for themselfs....With the real KLMS....

I dont have to go to Japan... im aware of the whinding back of clocks issue as its been around for decades... its not a new thing. My friend has spent most his life in Japan in the auto industry and tells me everything i need to know... from what he tells me most of the whinding back gets done before it even gets to the auction houses and some of them do it themselves... he tells me of the dodgey ones and tells me of the ones that are ok (very few)... in truth who really cares if its been wound back when u have someone to inspect them and test drive them for u before u buy them.

Its one thing to look at them and bid for them on a screen than it is to test drive them first... im not trying to be a smartass either or tell u how it is... im just stating whats been told to me from a very reliable source.

I wasnt trying to be argumentative i was just trying to explain how IBC japan isnt a small backyard seller

by the way IBC was not the company i was talking about i cant remember the link of the auction yard i was talking about... but it had something to do with them or sounded like them... im at work and dont have all my links here.

www.idirect.co.jp which is an affiliate i think.. it gives u access to all the auction yards in Japan in one site and lets u bid for them... one of the auction yards is near where my friend lives and he goes down and inspects the cars first.

Saw one today...41000ks. Immaculate condition...infact it was DETAILED!! GIves me the creeps too good to be true. Whaddya guys think?

what year and where are u seeing them? 41000 for a 10yo car i would almost and im sure ylwgtr would be the same in saying it sounds dodgy.

It was a 92 R32 GTST, gun metal grey with front GTR chin spoiler. Odd though, I had a look under the chassis. It looked pretty clean...and the odometer numbers looked like it lined up correctly.

41000kms... unless they had a different engine in it and took the original out for 5 odd years than i doubt it is original kms. Not to say that it isnt but i would be very warey

mine had only 39,000 when i got it... seems genuine too... who knows... maybe its a new engine or gauge cluster
