Hey guys,

small favour for a good mate of mine who just purchased an R34 GTR and is looking to upgrade the exhaust. He has no interest/time in the forums (so he claims) pfft

Anyways, i made him settle for the Amuse R1 Titan catback cos it looks and sounds insane or even the Trust TI or Kakimoto Full Mega as a slightly cheaper option and also metalcat highflow.

Im a little unsure for the front section, im assuming it should be changed to keep the flow all nice and even as opposed to stock, but can anyone offer suggestions on front pipes/dump pipes? Links are not necessary but wouldnt hurt.

I used some JJR gear when i had the R33 few years back, quality was great and fitment was ok but i remember there being slight hissing sounds due to small leaks etc.

forget titanium,

Get a full turbo back exhaust, there is f**k all to be gained in a catback on a stock front system.

Kakimoto full mega n1 whatever it is is two twin pipes that never meet and run parallel down the length of the car, probably not what you want (LOUD).

Just get a nice catback of whatever brand he likes and add the biggest highflow cat you can afford.

once you have this, find a frontpipe, there are alot of copies available now but honestly just grab a HKS one from Nengun or something for 600 or so bucks.

Yea we saw that HKS unit but were unsure if you also needed dump pipes. So im assuming no is the answer to that one? Also maybe i typed the wrong Kakimoto unit as the one we saw is single pipe not the ultra loud double system lol.

Hey mate, generally most of the front pipes will bolt up-to the standard turbocharger arrangement.

You will find if it doesn't it will list this.

should you be unsure just be sure to check with the person you a purchasing it from or do a forum search.

For what it's worth, I had a HKS front pipe behind my R33 N1's it it bolted up perfectly.

You might be thinking of the Kakimoto Regu I think it is called, very nice sounding exhaust.

How far you go with the exhaust will depend basically on what turbos the car has/ will have.

If your mate will want more power in the future (he will) don't get a restrictive system, you will end up changing it down the track anyway.

As has already been stated R34 GT-R dump pipes are very good and you won't need improved ones until you add another 150kw to the standard figure (just as an arbitrary base)

I would go,

HKS front Pipe + VENOM high flow cat (google search like $230 delivered and they are about as high flow as you can get with still having the mesh inside it) + HKS HI-POWER silent.

How much did it cost you to get the flanges welded onto the end of that venom cat

    • Sorry to hear your HFM BM57 was faulty,  did you contact HFM I would hope they would be at least grateful for the information if there was some sort of manufacturing fault, you would hope they would be sympathetic even if your item was 2 years old if it had never been fitted. May I ask where it leaked from ?
    • Cats are called Bella, and Donna...  Like that poisonous plant And I remember your 2 monsters, I remember making a little bit of wee when you let them out... LOL I have already installed cat doors into the laundry where their kitty litter is, and the sun room, apart from the cat doors there's not going to be any permanent mounted stuff on the interior walls (interior doors are cheap and easy to replace) I will get a outdoor cat cage thingie once I finish the landscaping out back... https://catnip.com.au/ The only off limit areas are the main bedroom and the gym room....but, currently the cats are curled up in bed, in the main bedroom with the Mrs.....LOL, the off limits for the kittens to the main bedroom lasted about 5 minutes with Jackie I currently only have 1 free standing huge cat tree multiple level scratching post thingie in the lounge room, but, I will be getting another one soon now that I'm happy with the furniture layout in the back room and have a perfect spot for it
    • All of this is making it seem clear that running the Coppermix twin was definitely the way to go, especially in hindsight with how insane tariffs have gotten and the strength of the USD vs yen at the time.
    • That sounds like no chance of even importing one for road registering then Now I see why Duncan wants to check LHD rules for Targa...   I wonder how "bolt in" the AWD would be if you got one imported from the US and swapped it to an AUD one
    • Not to mention they drive like a bucket of bolts! yuck!
