Hey guys,

I need some opinions on which seat to go with.

I've bought a Bride Gias replica 2 weeks ago and installed it into my car. It's cool and all, but it's pretty tight (which is good, as it holds me well around corners) but I find it a tad hard getting in and out of the car and my car is a daily.

Now, here's my dilemma, I've found a genuine Bride Ergo 2 in leather, and I'm tossing up between the 2. My intital thought is to use the Ergo 2, because it's a geniune Bride and it is also less tight and probably easier to get in and out of the car. But I might loose the comfort around corners, so I don't know which one to go with.

I know some people will say go with the genuine, just because it's genuine, but I find the Gias replica pretty good, in terms of quality and comfort.

So I don't know >_<

Well whatever it is, i find the replica pretty awesome, maybe because I've never been in a genuine Gias before but coming from my stock seat, to a Drift Blade and now to this, this is really good. I think you have to try it to believe it.

I've decided to keep my replica Gias, and since I only spent $300 for seat and rails, I can afford to buy some genuine cushions and even some protective pads for the bolsters :D

Where did you get the GIAS seats from?

Bought it from a guy down in Melbourne, it was brand new, he bought it for his car but then he couldn't be bothered getting rails for it, he was selling it for $400 thinking it was real but when I saw it, I knew it was fake so I talked him down to $300 lol.

Good choice Charles, never sat in either, but aesthetically speaking, the Gias looks so much nicer

Thanks :P

I chose the Gias purely for the fact that it holds me better, as it is more of a bucket seat than the Ergo 2. But yeah, it does look better (kelvar backing) haha.

I honestly don't know why people hate them so much, they are pretty awesome, especially for the price you pay. A real Gias with CF/Kelvar backing is worth like $2,000? Even 2nd hand they are $1,500+.

People think getting a replica means you have to weld or mod some rails but that's NOT TRUE! A Recaro SR3 rails fits the seat PERFECTLY. It lines up with the seat, as well as bolts onto the car fine.

I can't believe how many PM's I've gotten from people asking me about the seat xD Maybe I'll take some photos of it and post it up :D

I also think with the replicas, there are different quality ones... Some seems better than others

wow I want to find one for $300 too...

I know places sells them from $550-695 for one and if you buy a pair, it's between $950-1100. Excluding rails that fits your car.

And Recaro SR3 rails is anywhere between $100-200 2nd hand.

Go on Charles, throw up the name of the place :)

I know Holfords Motors in Melbourne sells them, or JSAI in NSW (probably not as reliable).

But the pics I saw from Holfords, they seems a little crap, might just be their pics tho lol.

They are on ebay, search for "Bride Gais"

These replicas pop up every now and then on for sale sections, there are many models of replicas, I've seen Gias, Stradies, Cuga, Brix. In many different colours too (red, black, black with gradient, red with gradient)

Now I guess my next question would be, is it worth it to get the genuine bride gradient cushions and protection pads?

Yes although it's a replica but I think adding genuine cushions will make it a bit more comfortable and having protection pads will stop the wear and tears on bolster.

Genuine Bride cushions = $185

Genuine Bride leather protection pads (side & knee) = $150.

Or should I just use this one until it falls apart and buy a new one lol

Id say keep the one you have till its no good, then buy another later, not worth the extra $$ if its comfy enough as it is

    • Yeh I think i'll message an old contact i had for ages that manages his own tyre shop now.. n tell him what i want n work with him before ordering..  Got this 17x9 +30 Driftteks on 245/45/17 PSR Drag Radials on the rear.. They fit well - for your reference in future - Rear guards  have been lipped in & minimal to non flaring of the rear Gaurds.
    • If only it were that easy! I also needed to remove seats, shocks, brake calipers, send my car through a fence, and use measuring and ended up guessing because I didn't remove seats, shocks and brake calipers. It can be hard sometimes Can be a little more complex than 'just measure' if you want to truly measure the entire wheel through all of it's suspension travel. But if you aren't going for every last mm then yeah, you can check the space you currently have and guesstimate.
    • If you own a car, and it has wheels on it, and you know the offset of those wheels, and you have a measuring device, you have everything you need to work out if other wheels will fit.
    • Will this fit? but they are staggered set - RAYS 57DR SEMI GLOSS BLACK 18x8.5 +37 | 18x9.5 +38 5-114.3 STAGGERED SET   or If no go could just get a set 4's wheels of 18x8.5 +37 5-114.3 - would i run 8.5's 235s up front n 245's at the back if I do?   Thanks.
    • Put a clamp on your return line. I have a feeling it's sucking air, and introducing bubbles to your fuel. With a lot of fuel, less problematic. I'd honestly be redoing all the lines in the tank and clamps on everything.   Also, you've given two different answers to the same question: Asked if being followed by the police you could get down to use the whole tank, you said yes you could, so long as you keep off boost. However, you then followed this up that free revving, it would also cause the issues. I'm doubting free revving is enough to make any noticeable boost on what is likely a decent sized turbo.   So now I have to ask, can you actually drive it lightly and use all the fuel, or does it break up even free revving? Also, have you put a fuel pressure gauge on it? Can you hear the pump change noise at all when you're having this issue?
