Have a read of this thread as it has lots of information on the fault codes.

The light that flashes is the one of the engine on your dash.

Hey Andy,

Gave that a crack and just got 0000, so back to square one as to why the light is on.

On another note the torque split gauge just reads zero all the time?

My torque split gauge reads zero 90% of the time.

Lock the diffs by pushing the button to the upper right of the shifter. It should now show around 10 on the gauge, and you'll have a picture of your axles and a cog with S (?) in the middle lit up on your dash.

That's all working from memory. Give it a go and see.

Gauge still doesn't move, just sits there at zero. Even from a standing start and nailing it which you would think would activate the gauge doesn't. It does engage the front wheels as there is no loss of traction but I'm unsure if it's just running all the time or working as per norml. Also not sure if the gauge it's self is also faulty, will have to trace the wires back and see.

Have you tried starting the car and putting it in drive straight away then stalling it? It should get rid of the 4WD light.....you may just have air in the lines.

I have not, do you mean stall the motor or stall it up as in foot on brake and gas? Sorry if that sounds stupid. Lol.

my 4WD light just came on too.. tho next time i started the car it was gone.. seems to be all ok though.. my Torque Guage reads 0 all the time too unless i nail it in the wet then starts reading as it should.. (tho never tried when the 4WD light is on)..

BTW i took out my sat nav dvd out too.. though i reckon i had more wiring than you! had to take out the passenger seat to get to it all :)

Finally think we've worked out that the issue with Mike's car is the ATTESA relay under the airbox (shut up Brad :P).

His relay is causing a 4WD fault light on my car, so that gives us a pretty good idea, but will know for sure when he sticks my relay in his car. :cheers:

Im still skeptical about pulling the fuse, particularly after I saw the other Duncan write this

that gearbox/transfer case and mounting looks the same as r series. which means you are damaging your transfer case clutches running in RWD only. Plenty of people have done the "seems ok I'll drive like this for a while" thing.

the clutch packs have preload, and they will be slipping and wearing like bastards with the attessa pump off.

dropping the front driveshaft is fine though.

I won't be putting heaps of K's on, hoping that once Mike has worked it out, I'll get mine back this week.

Since mine is currently locked up at an alarm installers and can't come out to play, timing works out well :(

And Brad, I got your smug SMS, making us look at the front fuse and all :P

ok ...so today we checked ets relay and it working.... but it is not getting any signal as far as we can tell..... we put power through the relay and the pump fired up.... so it would seem the problem is upstream of the relay... any ideas would be greatly appreciated.. could it be a problem with the controller? or is there something more obvious??

How did you put power through the relay? Did you power up the coil or just put 12v on the output of the relay to turn the motor on? You could of just got the wire that goes to the motor from it. You should have 12v on pin 3 when ign is on. And there will always be 12V on pin 1 the bigger wire. Did you here the relay click.

The negative of the coil comes from the EITS C/U. The relay is grounded when it needs to be through the control unit.

    • For once a good news  It needed to be adjusted by that one nut and it is ok  At least something was easy But thank you very much for help. But a small issue is now(gearbox) that when the car is stationary you can hear "clinking" from gearbox so some of the bearing is 100% not that happy... It goes away once you push clutch so it is 100% gearbox. Just if you know...what that bearing could be? It sounding like "spun bearing" but it is louder.
    • Yeah, that's fine**. But the numbers you came up with are just wrong. Try it for yourself. Put in any voltage from the possible range and see what result you get. You get nonsense. ** When I say "fine", I mean, it's still shit. The very simple linear formula (slope & intercept) is shit for a sensor with a non-linear response. This is the curve, from your data above. Look at the CURVE! It's only really linear between about 30 and 90 °C. And if you used only that range to define a curve, it would be great. But you would go more and more wrong as you went to higher temps. And that is why the slope & intercept found when you use 50 and 150 as the end points is so bad halfway between those points. The real curve is a long way below the linear curve which just zips straight between the end points, like this one. You could probably use the same slope and a lower intercept, to move that straight line down, and spread the error out. But you would 5-10°C off in a lot of places. You'd need to say what temperature range you really wanted to be most right - say, 100 to 130, and plop the line closest to teh real curve in that region, which would make it quite wrong down at the lower temperatures. Let me just say that HPTuners are not being realistic in only allowing for a simple linear curve.

The above picture is the only option available in the software and the blurb from HP Tuners I quoted earlier is the only way to add data to it and that's the description they offer as to how to figure it out. The only fields available is the blank box after (Input/ ) and the box right before = Output. Those are the only numbers that can be entered.
    • No, your formula is arse backwards. Mine is totally different to yours, and is the one I said was bang on at 50 and 150. I'll put your data into Excel (actually it already is, chart it and fit a linear fit to it, aiming to make it evenly wrong across the whole span. But not now. Other things to do first.
    • God damnit. The only option I actually have in the software is the one that is screenshotted. I am glad that I at least got it right... for those two points. Would it actually change anything if I chose/used 80C and 120C as the two points instead? My brain wants to imagine the formula put into HPtuners would be the same equation, otherwise none of this makes sense to me, unless: 1) The formula you put into VCM Scanner/HPTuners is always linear 2) The two points/input pairs are only arbitrary to choose (as the documentation implies) IF the actual scaling of the sensor is linear. then 3) If the scaling is not linear, the two points you choose matter a great deal, because the formula will draw a line between those two points only.
