No commercial stake in this (although I'm racing in the series this year). Just an interesting option if you haven't raced before and don't want to pay.....

Basically, pay up, you get one day timed sessions at Wakefield. Person with fastest average lap wins.

I'll be going to the 24/10 session as Kelly is entering that day, and am happy to help any other SAU ppl who are interested in giving it a go.

Ive seen that advertised in autoaction and talked about it with other people who race karts, is seens a bit dodgy to me, think about it there are so many things that affect lap times temp, tyres etc and also if you have raced/driven a particular type of car you are abviously going to be quicker that someone who steps in even if they are a better driver. Bit of a gamble to me.

true, they try and keep it even by

5 * 5 lap runs in each of 5 cars

Drop slowest session (if you stuff it)

Tyre pressures can be adjusted

Only get compared against others from your day's heats (to rule out day to day temp changes)

And the Daewoo one is for novice (non-CAMs license) only.

I ran this the other year, seemed fair as it could be to me, and I highly recommend it. As for karters, all three who won a season last year are ex-karters...

How did the person who won the konica drive go?, the others dont really lead anywhere but would be fun to do. I dont think you would get the best equipment, personnel etc which dosent matter for the one make series but would make a big difference in konica. I heard all bad stories about the guy who won a formula ford drive through the kartstars and a free drive cost him a fortune.

The bloke that won the Konica drive was Grant Johnson, running 10th in the series. You're right, it wasn't the fastest car out there, but it was still a free season, and 10th is pretty good in a series that competitive. They're planning on buying a new car next year too, as all the top V8 cars will be replaced due to the new regs.

The other two who won last year are:

Ben Morley, 3rd in MGs and

Robert Dercole, 1st in Daewoos.

As far as costs, its just damage to the car - it cn add up if you're not careful, I'm paying on average $500/round for that.

Hey Pete,

If you read this can you PM me?

We're heading down for COALT on Wednesday night and looking to get a cabin at the place next to the track (Pelican Sheep Station). I think the deal is 4 people stay for around $60, so let me know if you want to shack up with Duncan and I.

Despite having heaps of fun, the best I managed was a mid-field finish.

There was the small matter of overtaking all three cars in the first session though.

Zoooooooooooooom.

"Where the hell did she come from?"

(PS no-one lend her your keys - I now know how she treats borrowed cars)

Hey Flip,

You might be too late. check out http://www.chanceofalifetime.com.au, I know they have already started the trials, but I think there is one more in December

    • Hi...so a "development" here aswell The swap is "done" and car went "test drive" BUT it seems the clutch(maybe gearbox?) is a little bit sad? I bought this clutch kit https://justjap.com/products/xtreme-heavy-duty-organic-clutch-flywheel-kit-nissan-skyline-r31-r32-r33-push-type "Problem" is that the first gear is hard to put into and it seems that the clutch is not disengaged. It was not the problem with the old clutch...(or like sometime the first gear would not get as easy specialy when the fluid was cold) So? Can it be like...bad "install" or is the clutch wrong ((it should not have been) i done research to get the right one) Or is this "normal" with new clutch and needs to be break in?
    • @Duncan I can try  and thanks i did not thought about VIN and part numbers for 33/34. @GTSBoy yeah it looks like iam gonna do that
    • Forgot to include this but this is the mid section of my steering rack that looks like it has a thread/can be turned with that notch mentioned in the post:
    • Hey everyone, Wanted to pick some brains about this issue I'm having with rebuilding my 33 rack (PN is 49001-19U05). All of the tutorials/videos I've seen online are either R34 or S Chassis racks which seem to be pretty straightforward to disassemble but this process doesnt carry over to my rack. Few of the key differences that I've noted The pinion shaft on the other racks bolt on with 3 torx bolts: Whereas my rack bolts on with 2 allen head bolts: These changes are pretty inconsequential but the main difference is how you pull the actual rack out of the housing. The other skyline/s chassis racks can be taken out by tapping the rack out of the body with a socket and it just slides right out. I'm unable to do that with my rack because there's a hard stop at the end that doesn't let the seal/shaft be tapped out. Can also see a difference in the other end of the rack where mine has a notch that looks like you're able to use a big wrench to unthread 2 halves of the rack whereas the other racks are just kinda set in with a punch. My rack: Other racks: TLDR; Wanted to know if anyone has rebuilt this specific model of steering rack for the R33 and if there were any steps to getting it done easier or if I should just give this to a professional to get done. Sorry if this post is a bit messy, first one I've done.
    • I would just put EBC back on the "I would not use their stuff" pile and move on.
