Hey guys,

Just want to know if any one notices water leaking inside the cabin, or is it just mine.

Its not exactly leaking but the carpet is damp, where the passengers left foot would be if there was someone sitting there. I looked under and couldn't see any signs of water.

Something to note though, i did recently get my stereo installed and they did replace the battery and ran some cabling around that area.. please refer to the below pic.

Do you think where the cable is run - top left of the picture is where the water may be getting in?

I've run a heap of wires in the same place in my M35 & not had any water get into the car, even when driven in really heavy rain. Having said that, it probably is the cause of the leak, especially if the plastic trim that sits against the windscreen isn't totally flush with the glass. The water could happen to drop straight down the cut they've made in the rubber boot. Nothing some silicon won't fix though  . Good luck.

Mate I've got the EXACT same issue. Water leaks into the cabin and gathers in the left rear passenger's footwell.

I had LPG installed a few months ago and they ran some hoses along the firewall area...I wonder if that's the culprit. The leak only occurs in very heavy rain...

I don't think my cover is missing, but perhaps something there is allowing water to get in? Hmmmmm

if I am looking at that correctly I reckon that the grommet has been cut and that the cable is forming a channel for the water to run inside.

I would take it back to who did the work on it and tell them you think you have a leak and get them to look at it. (looking at it I *think* I know who did the car.)

last one of those I did I put a 4 AWG cable through the end of that grommet neatly and resealed it with black sickflex. you can pull that harness down a fair bit and the grommet end will expand a fair way to allow a cable that size into it.

this should show what I am talking about

that entire harness has been pulled out , stripped and reassembled. it does not leak. compare that to yours :)

yeah the more i look at it the more i'm thinking that's the culprit.

I might pull things apart and give it a dose of sikaflex. If i still have leaks then ill take it to the workshop that did the install which i'm sure will be more then happy to help.

Chris - the fuses sit to the left of the engine bay mounted on a piece of perspex.

Be careful of touching it, then going into shop. They may knock it back.

Also sorry, but where is the fuses? They should be as close to the battery as possible, if you have a short between the battery and "to the left side" of the engine bay, you will be in a world of hurt.

part of the reason I pointed it out. I can see the factory terminal low right corner but IF that battery moved an inch to the righ then that car is going to go up in flames. sorry but looking at it from my POV thats what I see. those batteries pack a fairly strong punch when shorted..

    • Its a 2002 vr-x four VQ25DET, silver. Coil overs, lowered, polished alloys and sport exhaust. Bit of a project, was sitting in a shed for a while but runs and drives great.
    • I wasn’t able to replicate the sound anymore. It was a one time sound so maybe it was just coincidence but it was like small pebbles being dropped in a coke can.   should I try cleaning the MAF? It could be it’s functioning but dirty? I don’t know.
    • Update 4: Hi all. The car drives again! Haven't driven for long, only to store it in the garage again, but the test drive was successful. The coolant and oil leaks seem to be fixed for now. Temps on the engine were also very good, while moving I never even saw 80C water during the approx. 30 minute drive. Ate up all the coolant in the reservoir though so will have to fill that even more when I go to the car next time. One thing that pisses me off is that the RPM gauge is still f**ked, I even resoldered the board twice and used copper paste on the silly screws that are used as connections. Next time I take it out I'll take apart the board and fit new components, I'll see if I can get a replacement IC for it.  I have an appointment set for 22nd of September for the engine tune to 370hp. Alignment also still needs to be done. My hope is that I can get all the legal stuff over with by the end of this season. Anyone of you have advice regarding intercoolers? Currently there is an APEXI core fitted, one of those weird hybrid ones, 600x270x76. I don't think it's bad but it's not new and now I still have the chance to change it now to legally include it in the paperwork. Only issue is that the only options that would arrive in time are a HKS Type R intercooler or generic Ebay spec intercoolers comparable to a JustJap one. Ideally I'd order a Plazmaman but it takes over a month to receive which would mean making the car legal has to wait until next season. Would love to hear some input on this. Same story for my injectors, the previous owner was a nunce and put ID 1050x on the engine. They work but are obviously not ideal at "normal" power levels. But I don't see a reason to change them unless the tuner says it's necessary. I read online before buying a different exhaust that the top secret style rear diffusers won't fit due to the size of the rear resonators. My buddy and I made it work by slightly "adjusting the shape" of the mounting bracket and making some spacers out of 3d print for the mounting bolts. Fits like a charm. Just putting this here in case someone has this problem. Even the hefty HKS Silent Hi Power rear can fits without hitting anything.
