There's 2 things A "Lower Control Arm" and a "Ball Joint"

Ask who told you it needs replacing for clarification on what it is that needs replacing.

Lower ball joint is a very common thing that wears out. On the r30 the lower control arm and ball joint are sold as one assembly. The joint cannot be replaced as it is a press-fit and to replicate installation has shown in the past to fail. For $75 new control arm and ball joint it's a cheap and fail proof solution. There is always ongoing debate on getting second hand parts to replace a worn one, but I'd rather not feel guilty when it could put someone in hospital or worse. Don't be a tight arse when it comes to critical components

Brake master cylinder cna be re-sealed and re-valved by a brakes specialist. wouldnt be overly expensive.

New units are prob around too, not sure of the part number.

Whats your location? Might be able to help you find a place nearby.

Another thing to note is if in the future you are planning to do a big brake upgrade you mey need a master cylinder to match.

Common upgrade is from the Z31 300zx and the datsun/nissan 720 ute (navara?)

But thats a completely different subject....

Bottom line is for what purpose will the R30 be used for.

Is it a daily driver (or a quick fun daily driver)

or a future track toy

or gravel bashing

South West Victoria guys.

Car is daily driver with kicks to boot cos i like to play.

Lower control arms with the ball joint ghostrider? one piece assembly as noted earlier. that would be fan-bloody-tastic :D

and i was told only real option for brake master cylinder is re-sleeve for 200+ does my mechanic know what he's saying?

Geez ur good Mags. jst checked out that ebay item.

The ebay master cylinder IS NOT suitable for your car!

It is for S1 81~83 as they have a distribution block on top of the booster & S2 late 83~85 have it built into the master cylinder.

What side are you talking about replacing, or is it both and PM me an address or text to 0406142529.

Cheers, D

your mechanic is ripping you off, take it off and to a brake palce and they will do it for around 100 bucks.

Are you talking about brake specialists mate? mechanic says he can't, or shouldnt he be a mechanic at all?

Just people that sell brake parts, discs, pads, clutches they also rebuild brake masters, clutch masters etc..

Ive always used better brakes they are near moorabbin airport.

Do it yourself, surely there is a kit for them & it isn't rocket science.

I just rebuilt a pair of BNR32 GTR front calipers with a kit.

Just like a mechano set, put it back same as taken apart but with the new bits.

the same way i rebuilt my clutch master. didnt even know how they worked until i pulled it apart lol. easy home job.

but cause we're talking brakes here, i totally understand if people wanna leave their lifeline in the hands of a pro.

Hi gents,

My old ('82) R30 Hatch has tearing clutch master and can't find rebuild kit anywhere. It's annoying as wouldn't spend over hundred$ for a new cylinder when it could be fixed with some o-rings and seals..?

Any idea?
