not here in Canberra :(

sorry got late notice that it was on tv

commentators talking up a GT3 Nissan GTR coming next year, I hear they are limiting build numbers to 10 units for the 2012 season, and with Super GT regs for GT300 moving to GT3 regs for 2012 there are a number of teams that have higher priority to get cars, out of the remaining cars can't see the Aust GT being a high profile championship to sell into

Hopefully i'm wrong as will be good to have another new car up there competing.

Will be scouting out as many teams as possible at sandown, and those that don't talk at the track will be well liquored at the vodka o after party

:-) 2nd SLS officially announced today, James Brock will be behind the wheel.

Maranello Motorsport's also announced factory backing from Michelotto running the 458GT3

The have also brought the 2nd LP600 Gallardo in the country from the Macau GT series in China, hopefully it finds a buyer pre Bathurst 12 Hr / Clipsal

Clipsal schedule for GT's released today

1 Hour Race Saturday Night, 30 min race Sunday morning

A lot of talk that the Clipsal grid will be supported by many of the international cars from the 12hr, make sense to stay an extra week and compete one of the best street circuits (may be a bit biased there)

Got a message from a mate the 458GT3 did a 2.06.63 in its first shake down day at the Mountain (0.2 faster than the fastest V8 Lap)

next year the unrestricted cars should shake a few of the V8 feathers

Down to a 2.04.9 from the 458GT3 :whistling:

I had a good look over a 458 road car today. Can see where the race cars get their pace from.

Mr whiplash how much more power will the unrestricted cars have? And what is restricted on them currently?

When I mention no restrictions I mean running in actual FIA regs, at the moment all Aust GT cars are put the the dreaded 'parity' to dumb them down to make sure the gentlemen drivers are able to be competitive.

So as it ran over the weekend is how it will rock up to the 12 hour, although will more than likely be a tad slower with different compound tires and in enduro speck.

It's super quick, but no lap record - they can only be set during the race.

Amazing effort from street GTR running a 2.15 as well.....

i think when they start racing, that v8 lap time will show just how slow the v8 supertaxis are compered to the rest of the world.

it will cause alot of bogans to rethink there holden/ford loyalty.

not really I don't think...everyone like that assumes that Fezza's and Lambos etc are super dooper quick.....its the jap stuff and BMW & Merc they think are slow/weak etc.

If the R35 GT3 gets up towards the pointy end, they will be up in arms lol

    • KW only offers a set for the R32 GTR. Popular options are D2 racing, Ksport or Öhlins. I have a D2 Racing coilover set, though I don't know for sure which one.
    • Well, the good news is you have more than one very good option for new coilovers in and around your country. Worth the drive over to KW to talk about GTR stuff.
    • Fair enough, I am in no way a tire expert so I'm not familiar with all the terms and conditions. I'll definitely note down the AD09 to potentially try in the future. Rain is not too big of a concern for now as I will probably only drive in the rain when I have to. And considering I still lack experience driving the GTR I'd more than likely take it easy too. I have coilovers in the car but as I barely got to drive so far I never bothered to even check if they are adjustable haha. The suspension is almost entirely old and worn as well so I suppose when I eventually fix that in the future that would make a huge difference.
    • There's not a great deal to report here .... except ...... FOR .... LSD!!!  I bought a Quaife LSD from the UK and shipped it here .... Wish I'd just bought locally cause the shipping and duty was $700! But there were so many diffs used in the E90s I just wanted to be absolutely certain I was getting the right one so I spoke with a supplier in the UK who builds race cars and they have heaps of experience with the E90s.  I pulled the diff out which was seriously awesome - I've never done anything like that before, I must have watched 1000 videos on YT about it as well as consulting the Bentley manual. It was super easy in the end. The diff was delivered to the awesome folks at Hornsby Diffs and will be back in a few weeks. I also replaced the diff bushings with some Nolathane ones.  Really looking forward to getting it back and getting back to the track or even the skidpan.
    • yeah... the 13kg/mm springs weren't always in there, I had 10kg/mm but doing a few SMSP commanded heavier front springs. It's so good now going into T1 and T2, just need more seat time and real tyres.
