Grrrrr Second time lucky... Stoopid back button, making me loose all my typing... :)

Anyway...

Hey Guys!!!!

Long time no see!!!!

Just thought i would post a message to find out whats been happening in the world of SAU since i've been outta the loop for the past 4 months...

Things in my life have had up and also a major down... Ups included going to Gold Coast to spend Chrissy with Mum and Dad and seeing Metallica and almost meeting them but i had to catch a plane so i missed them by 15mins... ... And also finalising the Online Scheduling and Management Program for aviation schools that i have just finished writing...

For the downs: My Dad was tragically killed in an aviation accident off Byron Bay at the end of Jan... :) So as a result of this things have taken a different turn and my Skyline will have a take a back seat... But i will be selling off my RB30 items i have collected over the past year and will build a very mild RB25 with a GT30...

So keep in mind that within the next month or so i will be selling an RB26 head, tomei metal head gasket kit, greddy pulley kit, RB30 blocks - 1 with crank, cons and pistons and a RB26 turbo manifold...

Also if someone would like to type a concise paragraph of interesting things that have happened i would love to read it....

Thanks.

Woody.

Yeah you havent missed out on a huge amount ...... lots of dead RB25's mine being one of them also rob77, Gradenko, Paul.

Casualities being poor Dan_the_mans car .... written off.

PAS was good ...... Paul took out highest horsepower in his class.

Committee was formed to start SAUWA officially and thats on a roll.

Couple of bubs born recently - a little boy to Drifta and a little girl to Rob77.

Thats about it

mine ... well ..... i took it down the plex first ever time and it started blowing black smoke - did a compression test and number four piston was phucked ..... but car was still driveable til i got money for rebuild ..... then i dragged a silvia ...... killed it .... 5 pistons  its at SST at moment - about a couple of weeks away til completion i imagine.

The others i'll let explain for themselves and i cant remember how much power pauls car made 437rwhp i think.

Very sorry to hear about your father alan. *hugs* My engine died after the ringlands completely blew on cyclinder 3 and 6, we think this was mainly related to the amount of boost I was running. I fiddled around with the ebc and dialed up what I thought was a safe 1.1bar (was probably 1.3bar) and the engine died within a month. :D I think with running 339hp at 1 bar its time was limited as it had started to use more oil and the oil catch can was filling much quicker than normal. Its being rebuilt with forged internals and support gear and we hope to hit 400hp@wheels there after. :D

hey imacul8, pot helps with chemo.. u dont feel as sick... but u didnt get that from me. Good luck with the chemo. Hope ur body doesnt take it too badly, everyone is affected differently from it. And i know what its like getting cancer at a young age.. i got my first lot at 18 and again a year ago. Didnt have to have chemo though. Just an operation. My mother had cancer to a few years ago. She had to have chemo and radio and opperation. Shes all good now and in the clear. Hope u make a quick recovery

and allan, Its always the best ones that we loose. My dad died in a tractor accident when i was 6. I saw him under the tractor. It was a very hard time.. just rember the good times u had with him :P

Woody, Very sorry to hear about your dad. I've been seeing you driving around heaps, but I'm in a bunky red R30 at the moment, while my engine is being rebuilt. My car will be ready for Drag Combat, hope you can make it down, we'd love to catch up with you:grouphug:

Thanks guys!!!! Wow, so many responses...

Yeah it certainly has been a life changing event.... One day he's there, the next he's gone... I spoke to him on the phone like 10 mins before he took off... The sad thing is my mum and i will probably never know what really happened... :P

Yeah he died doing what he absolutely loved in the plane that he adored and into the ocean which he too did also love!!!

Just out of interest, the plane he was in was an Aerostar which has 2x 9L 6 cylinder horizontally opposed twin turbo engines.... Each engine is rated to 300bhp...

IMACUL8: Damn, that really sucks!!!!! Sorry to hear!!!!

Ken: Have been meaning to come round and see you two... But ssooooo far away!!! But will make the effort soon...

Dan: Thanks Dan!!!! I got an e-mail from Tim Diggens a few days after it happened and got an e-mail from Martin Diggens this morning... I'll keep you informed about the parts and when the memorial service will be... Thanks dude!!!

Jash: Thanks dude... I saw Roy today and will be popping by tomorrow (tuesday) to chat to ya about some tyres...

Paul: Whats being put into your engine???

When is Drag Combat???

Alan sorry to hear about your father dude

And Dan, I'm sorry to hear about your cancer.

Both of those things are terrible and I wouldn't wish it upon anyone what you guys must be going through.

As Jash said, keep your heads up and try to keep smiling

    • For once a good news  It needed to be adjusted by that one nut and it is ok  At least something was easy But thank you very much for help. But a small issue is now(gearbox) that when the car is stationary you can hear "clinking" from gearbox so some of the bearing is 100% not that happy... It goes away once you push clutch so it is 100% gearbox. Just if you know...what that bearing could be? It sounding like "spun bearing" but it is louder.
    • Yeah, that's fine**. But the numbers you came up with are just wrong. Try it for yourself. Put in any voltage from the possible range and see what result you get. You get nonsense. ** When I say "fine", I mean, it's still shit. The very simple linear formula (slope & intercept) is shit for a sensor with a non-linear response. This is the curve, from your data above. Look at the CURVE! It's only really linear between about 30 and 90 °C. And if you used only that range to define a curve, it would be great. But you would go more and more wrong as you went to higher temps. And that is why the slope & intercept found when you use 50 and 150 as the end points is so bad halfway between those points. The real curve is a long way below the linear curve which just zips straight between the end points, like this one. You could probably use the same slope and a lower intercept, to move that straight line down, and spread the error out. But you would 5-10°C off in a lot of places. You'd need to say what temperature range you really wanted to be most right - say, 100 to 130, and plop the line closest to teh real curve in that region, which would make it quite wrong down at the lower temperatures. Let me just say that HPTuners are not being realistic in only allowing for a simple linear curve.
    • I feel I should re-iterate. The above picture is the only option available in the software and the blurb from HP Tuners I quoted earlier is the only way to add data to it and that's the description they offer as to how to figure it out. The only fields available is the blank box after (Input/ ) and the box right before = Output. Those are the only numbers that can be entered.
    • No, your formula is arse backwards. Mine is totally different to yours, and is the one I said was bang on at 50 and 150. I'll put your data into Excel (actually it already is, chart it and fit a linear fit to it, aiming to make it evenly wrong across the whole span. But not now. Other things to do first.
    • God damnit. The only option I actually have in the software is the one that is screenshotted. I am glad that I at least got it right... for those two points. Would it actually change anything if I chose/used 80C and 120C as the two points instead? My brain wants to imagine the formula put into HPtuners would be the same equation, otherwise none of this makes sense to me, unless: 1) The formula you put into VCM Scanner/HPTuners is always linear 2) The two points/input pairs are only arbitrary to choose (as the documentation implies) IF the actual scaling of the sensor is linear. then 3) If the scaling is not linear, the two points you choose matter a great deal, because the formula will draw a line between those two points only.
