Paint you can usually sand almost straight away, I dry it with a hair dryer/heater and wet sand within 30min to an hour but

how did you dry/sand the filler??

you sure they didnt mean let the filler dry for a week..

Doesnt matter, you know how to do it now if it falls off just try again..lol..either way it looks heaps better than it did

look at anyones car close enough and you will find blemishes, I saw your car drive past me in Hallam about 2 weeks ago and it looked fine to me..but next time i see it i will be looking directly at theses spots. ;)

Haha, I kinda want to do it once and do it right-ish lol.

I let the filler to set for like 15mins, then sanded it.

And yeah, when the car is all done, I'll message you to come down (3-4 shops away) to have a look at it :P

And it will have brand spanking new looking headlights to go with it, sanded and polished them with my orbital polisher :D

Wow! seemed like it turned out quite nice! Can you tell me the steps you took to do it ? I needa touch up my bonnet badly :( (i want to do iwth cans and stuff like you) please pm me!

Thanks :P

Let's see...

1. Prepare the areas you wanna touch up/spray, make sure it's alllll clean and grease free, you can use Prepsol.

2. I sanded back the damage with 120, 220 grit dry sand paper (left side of bumper only, if you don't need to fill, just sand back your panel so it's all smooth and move to step 5)

3. Use body filler for my bumper and let it dry for 15mins or so.

4. Dry sand back the body filler so your panel is all smooth again, start of with rough and eventually end up with 400 grit.

5. Use Prepsol to clean the area again.

6. Mask off the areas you want to spray

7. Spray a few coats of primer on (5-6 coats), and wait 5-10mins between each coat.

8. Wet sand back the primer using 400, 600 grit.

9. Once it's all smooth, use Prepsol to clean area before applying paint.

10. Apply 3-5 coats of colour and wait 15mins or so between each coat and then for the last coat, wait like 1 hour.

11. Not sure how long to wait, but after letting the paint dry and cure, wet sand it with 2000 grit before polishing and buffing it.

Anyway, those steps are just what I did, doesn't mean they are correct or the best way to go about it, but I'm happy with the results. :)

lol at do it once do it right...the first time you had sex...did you do it once and do it right,

car modifying is a hobby you will never do it once and it will never be right, even if you went and bought 5000$ wheels and a 10,000$ paint job in a few years you would decide it wasnt right and would do it all again..

So I never beleive the people that say "do it once do it right"The only real factor that matters is how much you are willing to spend to never be satisfied...lol ..

Also did you get the headlight polsih idea from me or was it just coincidence, cause i posted the same thing the other day...you dont even need sandpaper just a good cutting compound on a buffer..

LOL >_<

I just thought I'd sand it because the front bar is off lol. I used to just cut and polish but it fades back too quickly so I thought I might as well try sanding it. But now, I need to get some UV sealant.. Any ideas where I could get it from? :P

Lol I got a small amount left of UV sealant

Haha just come by and we will apply some. Needs only 1 hour rest

Cool! It's a men date! :D

I still gotta get my other headlight back from Vu (plastic welding my tabs), so once that's done, I'll drop by :)

Can you please PM me your number lol

    • There's restrictor pills in the stock boost control hoses. That's how they set the amount that was bled off and hence the "high" boost setting. The usual mod in the day was to remove it and send the "high" boost setting up to about 14 psi.
    • Thanks Duncan, that's the best info I've read. Furthermore after learning about the PCM programming side controlling the factory boost solenoid, the purpose of the solenoid is to "bleed" boost when pin 25 is earthed, thus allowing spring pressure in the wastegate actuator to overcome diaphragm boost pressure, thus closing or reducing the position of the wastegate flap creating more boost as the turbo is able to spin faster. It's pretty cool to see a designated Pill to do exactly this, would have liked to have seen it with a tiny filter over the end for those moments in vacuum.  The constant bleed pill has now been removed completely from the system and solenoid boost control has been restored once again.   Case closed 😂
    • The wideband reading is meaningless if it's not running. Why are you using shitty old sidefeeds on any engine, let alone a Neo? What manifold and fuel rail are you using to achieve that? Beyond that, can't help you with AEM stuff as I've never been their ECU/CAS combo.
    • Manual boost controllers (where a little of the boost was bled off) were quite common back in the day, because they were cheap and easy. Generally they had a manual adjustment screw rather than being fixed like yours. Down side is they always bleed boost, not just when you want them to so an electronic boost controller that uses a solenoid will have less lag.
    • Hello , im new here and i have A31 home build  RB25det neo stock eng / turbo  aem ems 2 blue connector  aem 3.5 map aem cas disk aem wideband connected to ecu  355 lph pump 550 nismo yellow injectors side feed aftermarket regulator  and won’t start with base aem tuner basic tune eventually flipped cas 180 degree so it triggers on correct stroke not in exhaust cycle  Now it won’t start Wideband reads 10 and 11 at lowest fuel setting  and will share calibrations soon for aem tuner i think something is wrong in aem tuner    please if you have any information, am very grateful
