I've noticed that to fit my QLD personalised front plate that you have to bend the plate and make it look all crappy.

I was thinking about trying to find some rubber spacers to sit behind the bolts and hold the numberplate off the bar so it can sit straight again, but the recess is pretty deep so it'd look pretty weird like that too. I've been looking for other 33's to go up and have a look, but haven't seen too many since I noticed this...

What does everyone else (with a s2 r33) do with their front number plate?

you should be able to pick up a multi-size pack from any hardware shop, mitre 10, bunnings etc. just ask for metal or tube spacers, if you can find rubber ones there I'd get those & cut them to size until you find a fitting you're happy with

take your plate screw with you to find the right size so they don't stick out too much, you won't notice the gap after awhile anyway

no way my rear plates would fit without them

+1

I have the metal spacers - 2x for each screw from Bunnings & got longer screws whilst I was at it > Perfect!

I was thinking metal spacers but I thought they might vibrate or rattle - a pet hate of mine. For those with the metal ones, do they make noise at all?

I went into bunnings and asked for spacers and got the  look, so I may have to try a different bunnings.

I notice now that my friend has bought a GT-T that the GTS-t's number plate recess is like 2-3 times as deep, so he only needs tiny little rubbers to make the plate fit flush.

I've also found this driver side mounting bracket on one front bar in my searching:

What's the legality of mounting a number plate there in QLD?

Thanks for all the responses btw.

It can be side mounted as long as it is visible from 45 degrees and 3m away from the car at each side or something like that. Might be online somewhere?

I have metal spacers and they don't make any noise. They mount to the bumper by those speed nuts or whatever they are called. But they are rubber or plastic so don't vibrate.

Ive mounted mine in drivers side of the spoiler, along the lower lip , i cut down the standard plate to a personal plate size and just drilled some self tapping screw along the bottem to hold it,

I didnt want it mounted on the front cause it looked like it was blocking the intercooler a bit, i see that bumper has the number plate part cut out to make the mouth of the spoiler bigger, ive dont that too

I went through my shed, found some old fuel hoses and cut them 2 size and used them as spacers with longer screws, been on car for about 2yrs now and never fell off LOL WIN

Nice ride you got there, black is by far the best colour for a skyline i reckon

Why not just drill it into the bumper? Mine looks fine. Also makes the intercooler look more visible by having the plate higher.

Do you have any pictures to show what you mean? I'm guessing you mean like what 89CAL was referring to earlier, drill holes at the bottom of the plate and lift it?

That wouldn't change the recess issue (the gap behind the plate) would it?

Mine still uses the standard number plate mounts. Phils is done with self taping screws (?) through the bumper and into the reo

Nah just into the bumper plastic, normal allen key bolts. Holds fine. One side after 5 years is getting a little bit loose so next time I have the bumper off i'll put nuts on the back of them. Will also prevent them from getting stolen.

    • Hey. Very valuable information about pitwork, I will pay attention when buying any consumable parts 🙏 As for the carpets - I got a handful of information from nengun, from which it appears that indeed the carpets for the driver's side are OEM. They are not able to show me any pictures due to the long chain of different sales entities but after I place the order, as soon as the goods arrive at the nengun warehouse from which they will send the shipment to me they can send me photos and if my purchase differs from OEM I can immediately return it / cancel the purchase. I think I will give it a try 😉. Of course i'll let you know what's what as soon as i get them P.s. I know the topic is not relevant to the thread, but both nengun and amayama have these SICK 😍 trunk room lamps available. Do you know anyone who ordered them? I need to have one in my car
