Just done the conversion from auto to manual in my R32 GTS4 using a R33 GTR box.

I measured and cut the hole for the shifter based on the R32 GTSt manual shell I have and it lines up perfectly with the centre console etc. I compared it to the rb25 box that came out of the GTSt but the shifter is ~40mm further back on the r33 box.

Looking at photos of r32 GTR boxes, the shifter appears to be in the same place as the R33 so I can't work out why it doesn't line up?

Fitting the shifter in pointing forwards works for now.

Is the shifter in an R32 GTR ~40mm further back than a r32 GTSt?? I would have thought they were the same??

Anyone had the same problem? Solutions??

My only direct experience is that in a 1993 2WD R32, the auto and manual shifter holes are in different places. Put a manual into my auto car and there is a bit of a strech to get the rubber boot to bolt to the tunnel. It fits without putting enough tension onto the shifter that you'd worry about wearing out shift forks - but it's not 40mm offset. I can't see why the GTR shifter couldn't be as much as 40mm away from another R32's shifter.

Engine mounts are fine, and if the whole engine was back that far it would be against the firewall!

The difference is in the box as I measured it compared to the r33 gts box I have.

So your auto 2 door GTS4 had a shifter hole in the tunnel?

I think I'm just going to modify a shifter anyway.

Well, yeah. Except it's a GTSt. The shifter on a RWD auto box is attached to the box, like any other normal RWD transmission. There has to be a hole in the tunnel for it to come up through. In this case there was about a 20mm difference between the location of the manual and auto holes, based on where the manual shifter came up through the auto hole. I've seen the shifter come up through the centre of the hole on cars that were originally manual, but on mine it's either a little in front or a little behind the hole's centre. Can't remember, been too many years since I had the shifter boot off to remember.

    • The wideband reading is meaningless if it's not running. Why are you using shitty old sidefeeds on any engine, let alone a Neo? What manifold and fuel rail are you using to achieve that? Beyond that, can't help you with AEM stuff as I've never been their ECU/CAS combo.
    • Manual boost controllers (where a little of the boost was bled off) were quite common back in the day, because they were cheap and easy. Generally they had a manual adjustment screw rather than being fixed like yours. Down side is they always bleed boost, not just when you want them to so an electronic boost controller that uses a solenoid will have less lag.
    • Hello , im new here and i have A31 home build  RB25det neo stock eng / turbo  aem ems 2 blue connector  aem 3.5 map aem cas disk aem wideband connected to ecu  355 lph pump 550 nismo yellow injectors side feed aftermarket regulator  and won’t start with base aem tuner basic tune eventually flipped cas 180 degree so it triggers on correct stroke not in exhaust cycle  Now it won’t start Wideband reads 10 and 11 at lowest fuel setting  and will share calibrations soon for aem tuner i think something is wrong in aem tuner    please if you have any information, am very grateful         
    • Legend. I ended up finding the facebook account of the owner of the first car i sent but sadly he deactivated the account. I think you’re right in saying it’s some sort of well done custom job. Really appreciate your help anyways.
    • Totally equivalent. Stock often goes from the comp cover because that's where the actuator is also installed and the factory needs 2" of hose to make the connection - and it comes as a pre-assembled unit. They totally have a boost reference from somewhere between the turbo and the throttle(s). Oh, jeez. Just do it in M12 then. We don't actually care that much. I would expect any such AN converter fitting to rely on an o-ring or some other seal onto a flat surface under the flange of the hex**, because bolt threads are no intended to provide a pressure seal. unlike..... pipe threads. **which also requires a suitably flat and smooth surface on the turbo's boss to provide the seal.
