Over the Christmas holidays, I plan on driving my Line up to Geraldton to see family, the only problem is I usually only get around 300kms a tank, so I'm wondering if anyone is aware of the availability of any 98 fuel between Perth and Geraldton?

Any feedback would be awesome.thumbsup.gif

Jezz.

300km / tank? Ouch.. Would kill me pinch.gif

O2 sensor, tune = 500km tank closedeyes.gif

Do what the wise old man says thumbsup.gif

OR, delete factory o2 sensor, replace with wideband and learn how to tune cruise AFR's = 600kms a tank ;)

I'd pay to see someone do 600km on a single tank in a skyline, I really would.... Haha

How much and when are you free? Lol, my car does it easily. I average between 590-600ish. It's not hard to do, but most people don't venture into tuning their car themselves. There's some gains to be had between the dyno and the road, especially considering most tuners won't spend much time on your cruise AFR's.

I quite often do long trips in the Stagea and going from ~350km around town I get well over 500kmh once on the highway.

I plan my trips around BP locations (can now use Shell 98) and carry two full 20L jerry cans in the back.

Also good to have 2 spare wheels, a bottle of oil and 10-20L of water

Wow 300kms a tank?

When i had my R33 gtst, on country roads sitting at 110km/h constantly, i reset my trip metre/odo and to a single tank i got almost 700km.

That had ebc, fmic, turbo back exhuast, pod, tune (making 280rwhp) and it used bugger all fuel on country driving.

Good son of rajab that must have been running ridiculously lean at around 3000rpm, did you ever notice surging??? I get worse economy driving at 100/110kms, a good 3L per 100km worse than I do at 80/90km. The engine just needs that much more fuel at that load/rpm.

Go buy a proper car, a BMW nyaanyaa.gif

E39 528i, 100kmh, 6.6L/100km AC + radio on., theoretical full tank economy of 1060km worship.gif

Martin, my old 32 (one over east) could get 650+km/tank sitting at 100 solid and that was fairly powerful... Something not right with your car....

Are you taking the coast road to gero? Jurien has a Bp so i'd assume it has 98, theres also a caltex.

If you top up your tank there you'll make it the whole way easy.

Theres a few other petrol stations on the way aswell but i dont know if they have 98, just take a bottle of octane booster with you.

If you make it to dongara before you need some, they have a shell and a bp on the highway.

Geraldton has a gull and a bp on the highway in.

If your going the inland way i dont think cataby has 98 anymore so you'll probably just have to fill it up with whatever they've got or take some octane booster aswell for piece of mind

Nah I don't think I will take the coast road, that's Badge that has caltex yeh?

I guess I'll take a few octane boosters for peace of mind haha,

Cheers for everyones replies,

Does anyone know how safe it is carring a jerry can in cabin?pinch.gif

Pretty sure badgingarra is shell, I think eneabba is shell aswell.

Personally i wouldn't take a jerry can, just fill up with what you can and if its shit don't thrash the car until you get another tank of 98.

You should see if you can sort out whats causing your high fuel consumption, i've done the trip heaps of times and never used a full tank in either my 180 or 31

Cataby has a Caltex, but I think there's only 95 octane. Same with the Liberty servo. Liberty fuel prices are pretty decent, sometimes cheaper than Perth. I've used it many times and runs ok

I can do over 550 in my Calais which has an RB25DET... std ecu, 10psi.

Refueled around then because I wasnt sure when the next stop was comming up.

    • First time trying out a regularity format at the Peter Hall Memorial 6hr. It was an interesting experience with everyone on our team being brand new to the format. Safe to say reading and understanding the rules and scoring system would have really helped our team. We finished firmly last thanks to the majority of all laps across the team being penalties. In the words of my teammate Matt “Turns out we are both too quick and illiterate.” Another car had entered before us and already secured number 12 so i needed to clearly cross them out to avoid confusion for any other blue calsonic livery'd r32s at the event. The team consisted of an R32, an AE86, a supercharged V35, and a Kia CEED GT bought at salvage. I ensured we all had matching "Peer Pressure Racing" banners and overalls. This is the longest session of back to back hot laps the car has ever done (20mins no cool downs on a hot day).  It was a true test of the cooling /oil control mods and they certainly made big difference! Enjoy watching me lose 14 concurrent points for the team:  Unfortunately I only managed 45mins of track time over 3 sessions (20min, 20min, 5min) out of my allotted 90mins before my gearbox let go. Something related to shifter fork resulting in 3rd being neutral quickly followed by all gears neutral, then it being lock in two gears at once and unable to move. Optimistically there were no bad noises. But I am yet to pull box out and diagnose. Fortunately i was also to snag a tow home while I slapped a permit on the Kiaa which came on a trailer
