Very cheap.

I'm also selling an Evo. I've experienced a lot of time wasters and bullshiters.

The best thing to do is ask them if they are willing to put a deposit down after test drive. If you get people saying "i'm looking at a few cars right now" or "umm, ahhh" rubbish, don't bother with them. They're just time wasters.

i don't agree with that. yes there will be some time wasters but if you put yourself in buyers' shoes, they are trying to buy a high performance car which is very likely to be driven hard. they would have to compare from car to car. if you want your car sold, u'd have to let them test drive. no 1 would ever put down a deposit before they even get to drive the thing. CLEAN EVO BTW :)

I've tried to wade off the timewasters but you just never know.

Spoke to a dude the other day - seemed very interested, msgs back and forth. So he comes to inspect the car and rocks up in whats clearly his parents audi with P plates and another lacky friend.

He says that he's almost sold his $45,000 Audi (bland boring model, not an rs4 or similar)- I give him the benefit of the doubt as he's one of the first people to inspect, so we go around the block etc... he says he call me back -

then sms me with this (I'll type it exactly):

"Hey quick question. One day this week, befor Friday, will I be able to... Lets say borrow the Evo for about a day. I want to sort of see how it drives from day to day + my mechanic to see it... Its really important as I am interested in the car but dont want to get it and know that I'll get over it after a week... and as me borrowing it, my car (the audi) can stay with you. let me know. let me know..."

Off topic but LOL

Tell him sure he can borrow it, if you can borrow his girlfriend or sister for a week to test

L-O-L .... Oh the AUDIacity of some people. See what I did there? rolleyes.gif

Quick edit - Compared to your 32gtr how did you find the evo in comparison? I'm torn between an evo or a 32/33r at the moment.

Generally u can tell the time wasters. We have sold so many cars and sometimes u think this guy is just wasting my time, but then they end up buying it.

I normally come across as a time waster so I don't seem too interested and that way I can negotiate with them.

But if some guy sent me that msg I would tell him " EVEN IF YOU LICKED THE SWEAT OFF MY BALLS I STILL WOULDN'T LEND YOU THE CAR"

But yeah it's sometimes a bit hard to tell

Deposit now taken.

The Evo vs 32GTR - I've already posted about this forum a few times in this forum.. but let me give you my experience.

I'll preface this with the Evo cost nearly 30k let that be said. The R32 is 15 years old.

Having said that, an 33GTR would would be a better comparison - so lets include it.

Money again - I would have to buy an R34 just to complete a boyhood fancy. That was an extra 10-15k.. though as a complete car for the price... imo the Evo - you cant do better

The Evo was/is the best car I have ever driven (gtst, gtr, wrx, legnum (waaaay better than the subie),gtir,supra,rx7) to say that the handling was the best thing about it given that it could out accelerate all the aforementioned and BRAKE like it was snapping your neck off - is a veeery good compliment.

Look the 8MR is a 'today' modern car that would make most of us a champ through the hills. When I get back into cars I know apart from living out fantasies of an R34 - I'd take an Evo over almost anything. Mine was modded with RDA400 slotted rotors and it was silly quick.

I loved the gtr (r32) and that was modded to 250kw - I really did.. but 250kw in a gtr feels nothing like 220/230kw in an Evo - and I'll stand by that any day! The car as a concept of wholeness, traction, stop and go is just off the scale.

1st of all. congrats on the sale :)

In relation to your fantasies of r34 gtr, I have had 1 myself and now i also drive an evo 8 mr. I'd have to say r34 gtr feels heavy, slower steering and worst of all, it is laggy coz you have to change the turbos in the gtr to gain solid power without breaking the turbine wheel as factory 1s are ceramic. As much as some GTR owners claim how responsive their cars were tuned, i have yet to see 1 that has response compare to cars like evo/sti. most of all, a r34 gtr really is just the name and the herotic image in most people's head(I still cant believe how people could ask 55-60k for a 12 yr old gtr in that sense). Evo 8 MR wins in nearly every single aspect in terms of being a car, maybe the only led down being weaker drivetrain. In relation to your say about evo being "wayyy better than wrx". I have had a 2005 STi in dead stock condition. Mate i rate STi over evo in this 1. Evo feels lighter with quicker steering feel and slightly more torque due to its twin scroll turbo, and is said to be faster in corners. However I personally always felt the STi was more stable and more solid than the evo EVERYWHERE. the steering, the gearbox, engine and the ride itself. If i had to choose again between evo and STi, I'd choose STi without a 2nd thought. But only MY05 model STi.

    • For these last 7 years of ownership, I've always had to use a small scissor jack under one of the front tow hooks to raise the front just enough so my low-profile jack fits under to reach my subframe jack point. I'm beginning to get annoyed of always having to do this. Are there any lower low-profile jacks that fit under the gtr lip on a dropped car?
    • Seat of the pants assessment of the new intake: The car is way less "doughy" when hitting the loud pedal, especially off idle when stopped or in traffic, I did use a cheapo lazer thermal thingo to measure the temp around where the pod filter got its air, it was between 55 - 60°C, in saying this the car was shut off and not moving, so the OEM intake pipe was not supplying any fresh air to where the pod was when the car was at least moving A weird bonus was induction noise on the throttle in the cabin increased a bit,  I was worried that I was actually going to lose some of that induction noise I love so much, outside though, when I got the daughter to do a WOT drive by pass for me, the induction noise has increased alot when on the throttle, not quite ITB doort, but well up there I'm extremely happy with the results and have been exploring the country roads in the region  As for house mods: 1.New front fence is up and is awesome, it really upgraded how the joint looks from the street, and the added security is nice 2. Electricians have replace some interior lights, and with more lighting in the garage, a few new motion detecting lights out the front above the garage, front room, and at the front door, which I have already found heaps helpful coming and going, also now has fancy pants CCTV all round the house The only hold point for power though is the solar and batteries due to supply issues, although this will happen over the next few weeks 3. I have done a heap of landscaping out the front and I'm almost ready to do a new small retaining wall with some nice blocks to replace the brick and cemented in rocks around the raised garden beds cemented in river stone "was the fashion at the time" the house was built. I currently have a pallet of retaining wall blocks and 2 bulka bags of 20mm blue metal to replace the wood chip that is in the raised garden beds around the house 4. I now have 3 big raised garden beds for out the back to grow some vegetables, about 70cm high, 200cm long and 100cm wide 5. My 2 compost bins are already pretty full with brown, green and kitchen waste from the landscaping I'vedone so far, but they will probably take a few months to break down, so anything else that gets chopped, trimmed, and kitchen waste will just start filling the base of the raised garden beds to about 30cm before I start throwing 40cm of good compost, and stuff, for the vegetables to grow in, I'll need a few ton of compost and soil, but the local supplier can sent me bulka bags of the stuff Basically the logs, wood chips and a few strategically placed rocks for drainage, will give the beds some good organic materials down low to break down over time, and they will hold moisture during the warmer months to save the water in my big arse water tank if we don't get alot of rain So, all in all, the car and house mods are going well, and I'm really enjoying being retired, I sleep in too 0700 and slowly plod around inside until I feel like actually doing anything, and only work in the yard for as long as want, which has actually been alot over the last few weeks,  although when you look at it, it seems that not a huge amount of work has been done,  until I look at the before I started the work pics Happy days and good times indeed
    • hahaha yeah. Plan is to get side skirts and probably just rear pods. But going to do them one-by-one. I've got a set that I really like from RHDJapen, but that one isn't shipped to AU. So need to find someone who can get it for me
