hey guys,

i have just upgraded my coilpacks to yellow jackets but just had a look at my old ones that where on the car, cause when i bought the car never checked what coil packs it had so i had a look and they are nissan hanshin MCP-300 22433 60U02 and had a read there GTR ones but not sure..

Any idea what model or what there from? cause think i might have upgraded for nothing or which ones out of the 2 would be better in your opinions?

so you bought new coilpacks when your current ones obviously had no issue ?

smearts

Just because it has no issues, doesn't mean you shouldn't do something about one of the most common problems (most people will eventually run in to) on skylines.

They call this preventative maintenance. Quite smart actually.

not really. smart preventative maintenance is things like changing the thermostat or fuel filter or timing belt. things that if things go wrong they can cause damage to the engine. changing coil packs if they are working fine isn't preventing any damage. you could almost liken it to changing your tyres when they are only half worn rather than waiting until they are getting closer to the wear markers.

    • Does it also misfire equally when revving?   Josh is very correct in what you should do. The coilpack harness wiring loom itself is a known problem due to its age and the number of heat cycles it has gone through. Throwing parts at a vehicle to diagnose the issue isn't a smart or good way to do it. Secondly, you may have a bad coil pack, you pop replacements in, they fix that issue, but messing with the harness breaks it, so the issue persists. So now you think "well it wasn't the coil packs" and have to continue chasing your tail, potentially swapping back in your shit coil packs and returning the good ones (yes, I've seen people do this because 'it wasn't the problem' and they want to save money). And suddenly, you've got two issues with the same symptoms...   Diagnose, don't use the spare parts shotgun.
