Hi All,

I did these over the weekend. VHT 'Racing Red' Heat resistant Paint, $16.95 at Supercheap Auto.

I ended up using 2 cans and went to 3 Supercheap Stores before I could buy the 2nd can (All sold out around Sunnybank area).

It was relatively easy to do, but post up a message if any of you need more directions.

The red brake callipers are not too noticeable with my stock rims, but that will all chage when I save up enough for buddyclubs! Oh yeah!

Enjoy! :slap:

P.S. Damn time out, I had to rewrite this again!

that looks sweet mate, well done, do give us a quick run down on how u took the wheels off, how u prepped them and how long it took. it looks nice so i think i'll go do mine, and for $17 its a very cheap and attractive mod, they'll nice under my veilside rims too.

sh*t thats great, though i fear travelling up to qld, painting the calipers then driving back down would cost a fraction more than having them done professionally here, can anyone post up a qucik DIY on how to do it? i checked the articles and diy section but surprisinlgy there is nothing there.

here is myquik rundown of howi have done it on previuos cars, last one being a silvia s13.

step 1- remove wheel and make sure car is in solid position

step 2- remove caliper off the disc and clean the hub with degreaser and a steel brush, the same but gentley with the caliper.then clean off with warm water and let dry

step 3- sand the hub lightley, try and do the biger areas on the caliper as the detailed bits are tricky, try usind steel wool, u just needto give it a light sand to prep the surface, then clean with water again and let dry.

step 4- cover up areas that may attract overspray, i cut out a ring that finishedflush with the hub, which covered the disc. then paint firstly with a metal primer.

step 5- once this is dried properly, paint with your colour, after letting this dry u might want to apply clear aswell.

step 6- once all is dry, take off covered stuff and put ya wheel back on.

its a very simple process that takes a good day to do, and is cheap and will last forever if done properly, like i said this is how i did it and it worked great.

also, with the nissan sign on the caliper, i actually dipped a cotton bud in turps and wipped off the paint on the nissan when it was still wet, i then sanded it with fine grade wet and dry paperonce dry, whick brought it back up to the shinny finnish, alsoused some metal polish for a finishing touch.

have fun!

with the nissan lettering:

- just spray the whole calliper in the morning. By about midday, you would have rouhgly 4 coats on. Wait until the evening and use some fine sandpaper. Only a small piece will do rolled up into a cigartte shape. Then just lightly sand it. You will find that because the paint is still 'new' (not fully dried, but touchable), the paint just comes off.

I used some plasterer's sandpaper, the stuff you use to fine-sand finish the platerboard walls with. Works great.

You also don't need to remove the brake pads or callipers, just make sure that you clean the calliper properly with some degreaser (but don't get it on the rotors as it is slippery stuff) and then wipe it off with a cloth.

when you do paint the callipers, tape up the areas that you don't want to paint (like the brake pads, etc).

hope that helps.

AND, PATIENCE IS THE MAGICAL WORD when it comes to painting the callipers. Don't rush things.

If you enjoy a more traditional manual, its the choice no question.
