question still stands can i use tomei solid lifters with 9.15mm lift cam ? if i get some yesses or no's i can look into something different or purchase..

No, you wouldn't use them as you dont have small base circle cams.

They are suited to 'Tomei' cams with more than 10.25mm lift.

So is there a aftermarket lifter to use with a 9.15mm lift cam?

Not required... The smaller lift camshafts use the same base circle diameter as the factory cams. In other words they are machined 'the same'. So they are not required. Just make sure they are in good condition and you have adjusted the valve clearances correctly.

I would be wary about the ramp rates being 270s, maybe a little more spring pre-load you could get away with them

But with 270s you would want to rev a 25 pretty hard to take advantage of them, or is it for your 30?

well you're handy on the spanners, give it a go, not a big job to pull the cams back out if it floats

Off the top of my head all the 270 results ive seen had springs, but they all had more lift than what you do.

p.s didnt you score some camtech 272s a while back? (was flipping through an old Zoom mag yesterday)

Correct term is 'under bucket shim' (and there is 'over bucket shim' & 'solid bucket')

Rb26 clearances - 0.018" ( +/- 0.001") intake & 0.015" exhaust ( +/- 0.001")

Measure with feeler gauges when the cam lobes base circle is above the bucket

Face valve/ cut seat/ order thicker shims to close the gaps

Machine tip of valve/ shim to open

Too loose it will rattle and cause premature wear

too tight it will stay open causing loss of compression

I've had to machine a 26 head out for poncams a couple times

    • @GTSBoy This method was able to get readings of -10 to -2, so it looks like its monitoring.  Now I need to figure out why the vacuum on the line provided isn't alternating with manifold pressure.  I went with 2 lines that an RB25 tuner recommended but I'll get a longer hose and try directly off the back of the manifold.  He may have been used to OEM intake setups while I have a DBW setup that removed the MAF and IACV.
    • I work at a car detailing and tinting shop called Quark which gets all manner of German cars in usually (mainly due to a contract with Mercedes Benz Kita Osaka, BMW Nishinomiya and others) but every once in a while something special comes in, like a fully restored 1972 HS30 Nissan Fairlady 240ZG... The shop owner had immediately started applying film to the windows as soon as it was in the shop so the interior was completely covered in towels and plastic sheets. But I could get a few photos of the engine bay which was restored like new. Such an amazing car to see in pristine condition in Japan these days.
    • Was going to say the car pulls up nicely everywhere, especially going into that last long right hander before the main straight. Looks like a lot of fun.
    • Hey Dave, welcome aboard! Good to see another soon-to-be Stagea owner here. The wagons are awesome — plenty of space, still got that Skyline DNA, and loads of potential if you’re into mods. Definitely post up pics when you get it, everyone here loves seeing new builds. What model/year are you looking at?
