I opted for a career that paid less than ultimately owning a pharmacy.

That was a career change 1 year after graduating from pharmacy.

I've never regretted it...

The man who wakes up each morning looking forward to a purposeful day ahead, has the best job in the world!

My 2c.

the best advice i ever received about work was..

"the first step is to find something you absolutely love doing.. the second step is to find someone willing to pay you to do it!"

as for the money side of things, making a good wage is always nice, but for me working in an establishment and with people you like and get along with, and can take pride in are far more important that getting top dollar.

Hmm Terry and Adam I am sitting in a completely contrary position to what you guys speak of. Stuck here and can’t leave as I just have it too good condition wise and pay at the ultimate expense of enjoyment and satisfaction. Heck im at work right now and have been since 6am getting payed ridiculously large amounts for it but damn I cant wait to get out of here!

Ive learned to accept it though and make the most of your personal life after work and luckily for me work rarely ever spills over to it. After all we don’t live to work, we work to live!

^^^ That's exactly what I was concerned about if I stayed in retail pharmacy.

My fellow chemists went on to buy Porsches, Astons, Mercs and R35s too. But hey, I think I'm happier than most.

I'm glad you get decent uninterrupted downtime tho'

ok yeah, In NZ import prices are cheaper, Somewhat. Which is our benifit yes. But its more than that isnt it?.

Yeah 98 octane is about 15cents above 91octane. We produce %40 of our own fuel but they still rely on the malshian barrel price to set our prices.

Most of my good friends have left NZ and moved to AUS, and are doing very well, Earning double what they were here for the same job, Livings costs are the same too, Sometimes cheaper.

I do envy what you guys have. Its hard here :)

i had to make a choice about jobs just after i shut my business. i got a job doing what i was doing in my business, but also got offered a job as an electrical trade assistant. $ per hour was about the same, but the TA job was going to be 6 days a week, 12 hours a day. the other job was 4 days a week, normal business hours, and the occasional 5 and 6 day weeks when needed. i took the job with less hours and am extremely glad i did. it's a great place to work, and great people to work with.

i work in noosa and the amount of people from new zealand (and england for that matter) there is pretty amazing. a lot of them come over for 6 months of the year

And you guys down south complain I just filled the line and it cost me over $100 to fill. I'm in Darwin and we only have one supplier of 98ron been bp for the last 6 months I've been paying on avg $1.89/l and I get 400km to a tank. Hell 91ron is $1.60 odd at the moment.

    • There's restrictor pills in the stock boost control hoses. That's how they set the amount that was bled off and hence the "high" boost setting. The usual mod in the day was to remove it and send the "high" boost setting up to about 14 psi.
    • Thanks Duncan, that's the best info I've read. Furthermore after learning about the PCM programming side controlling the factory boost solenoid, the purpose of the solenoid is to "bleed" boost when pin 25 is earthed, thus allowing spring pressure in the wastegate actuator to overcome diaphragm boost pressure, thus closing or reducing the position of the wastegate flap creating more boost as the turbo is able to spin faster. It's pretty cool to see a designated Pill to do exactly this, would have liked to have seen it with a tiny filter over the end for those moments in vacuum.  The constant bleed pill has now been removed completely from the system and solenoid boost control has been restored once again.   Case closed 😂
    • The wideband reading is meaningless if it's not running. Why are you using shitty old sidefeeds on any engine, let alone a Neo? What manifold and fuel rail are you using to achieve that? Beyond that, can't help you with AEM stuff as I've never been their ECU/CAS combo.
    • Manual boost controllers (where a little of the boost was bled off) were quite common back in the day, because they were cheap and easy. Generally they had a manual adjustment screw rather than being fixed like yours. Down side is they always bleed boost, not just when you want them to so an electronic boost controller that uses a solenoid will have less lag.
    • Hello , im new here and i have A31 home build  RB25det neo stock eng / turbo  aem ems 2 blue connector  aem 3.5 map aem cas disk aem wideband connected to ecu  355 lph pump 550 nismo yellow injectors side feed aftermarket regulator  and won’t start with base aem tuner basic tune eventually flipped cas 180 degree so it triggers on correct stroke not in exhaust cycle  Now it won’t start Wideband reads 10 and 11 at lowest fuel setting  and will share calibrations soon for aem tuner i think something is wrong in aem tuner    please if you have any information, am very grateful
